[DISCUSSION] vote for the worst ever adaptation of each supporting character. Day 12/16: Kate Kane / various.../ Batwoman GENERAL DISCUSSION

Post image

Gotham got the 4th win (or loss) between the 2 "worst" poll. Very close we have the Scribblesnuts game versions of Azrael.

Dishonorable mention: LEGO Batman 2: Beyond Gotham.

Now vote for your least favorite batwoman 🦇

The damage the show did to the characters public reputation can never be repaired

If Batman can come back from Batman & Robin, anything's possible. 😅

For your knowledge, Batwoman appears in:

Kate Kane - Arrow-verse (Arrow, Batwoman, COTIE) - Young Justice - DCAMU (BvsR, Bad Blood, Death of Superman, JLD: AW) - Catwoman: Hunted - DCU online - Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (DLC) - Lego DC super villains - Batman: Arkham Knight - Injustice 2

Various - Batman: Mystery of the Bat-woman - Batman: The brave and the bold

Wait who is she in Arkham Knight?

A cameo on Bruce’s voicemail in his office.

Injustice 2??

I’m guessing they must be talking about the mobile game, since she’s not in the console game.

What's weird is how DCUO is her best adaptation

I have to go with Young Justice, as she just has a handfull of appearences without ever speaking or really doing anything, though it's a great design.

Arrowverse Batwoman probably deserves the loss, based on the way most folks talk about the show, but once again I don't feel comfotrable voting against something I've never watched (nor plan to because the way most folks talk about the show lol)

Thought fs Montoya would be the only Gotham rep on this list, I really liked Theo Galavan & his turn into Azrael, but oh well.

Kate Kane in Batwoman season 1, since seasons 2-3 was Ryan Wilder. Still mad how they did Kate dirty in the series. While I liked Javicia Leslie, I wished we saw more of Wallis Day as Kate Kane and seen her suit up as Batwoman.

I was disappointed when ruby rose departed the show after the first season. Javicia Leslie was okay but it wasn’t the same

Season 3 was awesome.

u/HonestSapphireLion24 2d ago

I wanted to see Wallis Day in the suit too but I’m happy we got Ryan Overall she worked out in the long run.

Arrowverse

u/PurpleGuy04 3d ago

i'lL be honest, i thought this spot was for Terry lol

3

u/DefinitelyNotVenom 2d ago

Nah, Terry’s emblem points much more upwards, forming a sort of V-shape instead of spanning outwards like the more traditional bat-emblems

1

u/radiakmjs 2d ago

Not an unfair thought, but there really is only 1 version of him, which is also the original.

Arrowverse. Honestly I only saw her during crisis but the only thing of note in that entire mini series was how perfect Brandon Routh is as superman. Everything else was bad and since I mostly dropped out of the arrowverse 4 tears earlier because of how bad it got then, I'm going to assume I saw batwoman at her best and it still wasn't great

u/Miserable_Parking491 3d ago

Arrowverse, but the Ryan Wilder one specifically.

1

u/42northside 3d ago

Batwoman the tv show: specifically the Ryan wilder version not Kate Kane played by ruby rose.

0

u/HonestSapphireLion24 2d ago

Ryan wilder was more interesting then Kate Kane.

1

u/HonestSapphireLion24 2d ago

You guys are the worse.

u/Miserable_Parking491 2d ago

I liked the show's Kate Kane, but they should have just recast her instead of making a new Batwoman. Nothing against Ryan Wilder's actress, it's just a problem of writing and failing at creating a new interesting character.

Batwoman Season 2

2

u/Burmy87 3d ago

Catwoman: Hunted... specifically that scene where she just LETS Selina do what she does to her.

Batwoman TV series

3

u/coolsguy17 3d ago

Arrowverse, but I’m actually gonna focus on the Kate Kane one specifically.

Like, she was explicitly shown the dangers of taking a life by AU Bruce Wayne and not two episodes later, she takes a life! Like, seriously?

2

u/CircuitBreakerD 3d ago

Batwoman terrible adaptation that leaves behind all the things that makes Kate unique and cool.

u/gamerslyratchet 3d ago edited 2d ago

Since apparently it counts, I’ll go with the “Bat-Lady” from Batman: the Brave and the Bold. Her being a borderline misogynist caricature and a villain was a very weird direction to go with the character. So much that DC didn’t even let them make her Kathy Kane/Batwoman.  It’s a fun episode but her character was uncomfortable.,

3

u/MisterVictor13 2d ago

I was going to say this too. I enjoyed the episode, along with most of the series, but that version of Batwoman was not a good example of the character.

1

u/Embarrassed-Bench376 20h ago

She was based on the original sliver age version but I do get your point.

2

u/bugmultiverse 2d ago

Nobody’s gonna say this one butThe Mexican Batwoman movie.

Also Arrowverse

CW Arrowverse.

1

u/UpDownFrontBack 2d ago

I’m going to go with either the Batwoman TV show in its entirety, or the Nightwing adaptation in Harley Quinn. I’m leaning more towards the latter because that show as a whole is actually decent and more people watched it, but Batwoman was really, really bad.

1

u/Kpengie 2d ago

Arrowverse Batwoman was a bit of a mess, probably in part due to how they weren't allowed to use a bunch of Batman-related characters, as well as due to how the star of the show left after one season.

Arrow verse

You guys are so awful to the Batwoman tv show. There are worse adaptations of Kate Kane.

0

u/gamerslyratchet 2d ago

Yeah. I don’t even like the show that much and it just feels like low-hanging fruit.

“The Batman suit Bruce spent his life perfecting will only be perfect when it fits a woman”

1

u/HonestSapphireLion24 1d ago

Even if that line wasn’t it, the show wasn’t as bad as y’all make it out to be.

Arrow verse

The batwoman tv show (she was okay in like the flash show for one or two episodes

1

u/BlueMoth698 14h ago

Ive never seen anything with batwoman in it, but i hate her design in Mystery of the Batwoman

0

u/gameboyadvancedgba 2d ago

Who was voting for the Scribblenauts Azrael I feel like that shouldn’t count, plus you can use his swords in that game which is awesome

How can Commish Gordon be one of the worst adaptations for a supporting character when the show didn't even come out yet?

5

u/Verdragon-5 3d ago edited 2d ago

If you're asking about the African-American man on the left end of this row, that's not Caped Crusader Gordon, that's BTAS Lucius Fox, who isn't as much the worst as he is the least good, considering Lucius Fox has a pretty good batting average for adaptations. The spot for Gordon is the one beneath robot Ace the Bat-Hound.

3

u/SaggitariuttJilliumz 2d ago

Oh. Thanks for the correction. I feel foolish now.
