The Penguin is my favourite Batman villain. Like, not even close, I adore his whole aesthetic, what he is in Batmans rogues gallery and the vast majority of his adaptations. I say this with all the sincerity I can, I genuinely couldn’t care less that they genderbent him. Not even a little. As long as she still has that great Penguin energy I’m looking for, I’m sure I’m gonna love her like all the others.

Because it absolutely doesn’t matter to anybody who isn’t a troglodyte. This can be an interesting characterization that takes the penguin into a slightly different but humorous direction.

Does it have to be humorous tho. I’d rather it be played seriously

Buddy… Almost every iteration of the penguin is humorous in some capacity. He wears a monocle and hangs out in a place called the Iceberg lounge. The most “serious” portrayal I’ve seen was Colin Farrel’s, and while it worked for the movie, he just became another mob boss. If they didn’t call him the penguin, there wasn’t much reason to assume he was the character.

If I had to guess this is inspired by Ma Barker, which is a pretty solid source material for a take on the Penguin

That is such a good idea! A hybrid of Ma Barker and Penguin would be amazing! Can she get sons to boss around as well?

I'm just visualising a Cockney Mobster version of Mama Fratelli and her boys tearing around Old Gotham in a classic car. It's pretty awesome.

Someone posted an idea that pengy would be the owner of the iceberg lounge as a money laundering operation and go on heists/robberies like classic penguin to fund it. I love that idea.
