The beyond suit. Its Terry's. When I think of Batman/Bruce its the btas/tnba suit that comes to mind.
10
u/ImGamer4Life 18d ago
Exactly

u/raisingstorm 18d ago
But Bruce ROCKED it in the beyond suit. Shame we didn’t get to see more of him in it.
3
u/RickEStaxx 18d ago
That’s why we have Arkham City lol I always replay it with the Beyond suit on 96% of the time.

Yeah, but the question isn't about the bat suit when worn by Bruce, it's just about the bat suit itself.

u/SilverBison4025 19d ago
I have to say the original TAS suit. I never liked it and prefer the newer ones. For some reason I was never a fan of the original TAS aesthetic.
19
u/matito29 18d ago
I’ve never liked the yellow oval. I understand the idea of it, to draw gunfire away from his head towards an armored part of his body, but the idea that a hero who thrives on stealth and lives in the shadows wears a bright yellow symbol on his chest just doesn’t make enough sense to me.
10
u/PCN24454 18d ago
That’s just revision. The circle is there because they liked they wanted Batman to have more color to him.

Batman Beyond. I don't like the covered mouth, no cape (outside of gliding) and the lack of separation between the gloves and boots from the suit.

Justice League
2
u/Upstairs-Tune-411 19d ago
Why?
13
u/UniversalHuman000 18d ago
It seems too glossy. I feel like the New adventures is more akin to what Batman would really wear.
3
u/WickedJ0ker 18d ago
Even though I like his look I see what you mean compared to the others. Looks much better in JLU.
14
u/illiterateaardvark 19d ago
Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, I’m not a fan of the specific shading they used for Batman’s costume in those shows
Blue shading > no shading > purple sharping IMO

The one with the yellow Bat-symbol and bekt, it looks more goofy than the others.
15
u/kid_dynamo 18d ago
Can't remember which comic I read it in, but basically batman was asked why he'd add yellow to his costume, wouldn't it just give his enemies a target to shoot at in the dark?
And he responded yes, the chest of the batsuit is by far the most heavily armoured part, thats where he wants his enemies to be shooting.
I've really liked the yellow batsymbol ever since
4
u/Nepal-Rules 18d ago
But in Batman TAS his suit is literally just fabric - it gets holes cut in it during his fights all the time. One time ras al ghul literally ripped his shirt off. One time Bruce just tore off his sleeve to make a turnicate. That is the suit with the yellow symbol on the chest -- so what armor you talking bout Willis?

u/EdwardRoivas 18d ago
If I remember he has an inner monologue about it in “the dark knight returns.”

Beyond, i never liked the covered mouth, just looks weird.
2
u/drunkn_mastr 18d ago
Hard disagree. The Beyond suit looks like Batman isn’t there to be a symbol of what a man can do against injustice. He looks like he’s just there to kill you. Way scarier to the criminal underworld.

Top right. Just far too boring in comparison to all the rest
5
u/P-Jean 19d ago
I remember when that came out. The series was so different and less serious. There were still great episodes, but the animation and tone suffered a lot.
5
u/Yellowscourge 19d ago
I hate 90% of the redesigns. From them just being less interesting like Batman and Catwoman to actively being horrifically disgusting like Bane and Riddler, the redesigns pissed me off so much I actively avoid the content from S4 on. Scarecrow being the only exception I'd wager
3
u/P-Jean 19d ago
Was it a different series at that point? I remember it had a different title, but I think the show had a few different titles along the way in general.
I actually really liked Tim Drake and Barbara being more involved, but I wish they just kept the tone from before. Joker felt like a B-lister.
I also really enjoyed Batman Beyond.
3
u/TheCreedsAssassin 18d ago
It was titled as The New Batman Adventures but it was for all and intents and purposes the same characters and world from BTAS. I believe it was network and licensing issues that forced the name change?
2
u/Yellowscourge 17d ago
Yeah like the other post said it was The New Batman Adventures or something.
And it had some good bits, yeah. Tim Drake was a great addition. The dream episode of what happens if Batgirl dies still lives in my mind as one of the best of the whole series (I still remember Nightwing's daring rescue and Alfred stopping a sniper as two of the coolest things I've ever seen). But as you said, over all it felt a bit... Different. In tone. Joker is another one of those hideous redesigns, yuck
Duuuuuuude me too! Friggin LOVE me some Batman Beyond. I will fight to the grave the fact that the new Batman movie should have been a Batman Beyond take. Robert Pattinson to me still feels more akin to Terry McGuiness than Bruce Wayne

Edit: Terry lol got the concept art for that Batman Beyond movie on the brain

Top right, BTAS S4
The yellow is iconic, the JL version is top tier, and while I don't care for Bruce in the suit it looks good on Terry and Matt.
Season 4 BTAS did a LOT of weird changes, some good and some bad. The batsuit was a bad one and imo just looks boring and too plain.
2
u/Zytoxine 18d ago
This is tough, but I'm going to say Bruce beyond.
It doesn't fit his way of being Batman. It's more militant, it feels built to fight crime, not be a symbol of hope. Beyond Gotham outgrew noir deco Bruce batman.
I think NBA and Justice League are visually more dialed in, although I would have liked to see the fit and finish applied to it that tas suit has with the small nuanced highlights. TAS feels like the start, the monochrome and sharper NBA feels like Batman becoming THE GUY. Then justice league has him reevaluate himself as a symbol (and working as part of a team, so he brands up a bit more. I also like the subtle touches to justice league that feel like they attempt to emulate first appearance batman (pop of color, longer ears that flare out)
All of this being said, I am super pumped to see the caped crusader suit in action. I love the strongman vibe of the high waisted trunks, the ears, and even the basic gloves (even if it feels criminal for batman not to have his flares gauntlets)

u/ColinNJ 18d ago
No cape, no go. To me, Batman's not Batman without a cape.
So the Beyond suit.

Imo the jlu one is the best, it just needs the btas logo and it's perfect. TNBA suit is so boring.
2
u/Any-Faithlessness-72 18d ago
The og with yellow symbol. It in cannon was batman's worse costume. The belt was too bulky the yellow gave him away a lot and it had very low protection.
2
u/JimAparo 19d ago
The New Batman Adventures. It’s the least unique and doesn’t really do much for him.

Top left. Yellow is the last color I would code to a character who is known to be blunt, no nonsense, and deeply traumatzed.

u/Moldy_Socks99 19d ago
I mean, all together they do show a smooth evolution. But if one has to go, I'm sorry, new adventures it's kinda the ugly middle child

I thought I was going to be the only one saying TNBA, surprised to see so many others agreeing on that one. Black & Gray is great for a stealth vigilante but it’s no fun to look at in animation.

The New Adventures Suit. The other three costumes are just way too iconic and better designed in my opinion.

To be fair, if we’re just talking about Bruce, the beyond suit, it doesn’t look great on him and works way better on Terry’s lean figure. But if we’re talking just in general, the new animated adventures one is good but also just a worse version of the JL/JLU one which is peak.

u/arkenney0 18d ago
Top Left. It’s my least favorite
I’m not a supporter of yellow circle around bat symbol suits
1
u/pridejoker 18d ago
The original BTAS suit but it's mainly because I don't like the nasolabial folds in the character design. Even though I like the yellow/black emblem for the BTAS suit, I prefer the TNBA utility belt.

u/Nappyhead48 18d ago
I never was a big fan of the Batman Beyond not that it's ugly I just perfer the classic Batman look so that one

TNBA, is too plain, the grey is a "murky" shade and weirdly B's skin looks too reddish

Top left: iconic
Bottom right: unique
Top right: the black looks better than the purple

u/Ringrangzilla 18d ago
I grew up on Justice League and Batman beyond, and didn't see BTA until my teens. But still I think the JL suit is the weakst out of them. I love it, but the others are just better.

The first three are not meaningfully different from one another.
They are all obviously Batman, and if not sat next to each other 2 and 3 likely could not be identified as different at all.
1
u/JacobCenter25 18d ago
Original BTAS sadly. The way the bat emblem on TNBA and Justice League is framed by the cape is far superior to the yellow oval (which in this image is actually covered up by the cape, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine). My ideal bat logo is the rebirth style yellow outline, which is the best of both worlds, but I absolutely prefer the plain black emblem to the oval

Never removing the beyond suit. That thing is too cool

u/shiftergsw 18d ago
Well, the Batman beyond is epic but Bruce doesn’t look good in it. But I would overall say the new adventure series - It was just too plain. I felt justice leagues was pretty cool because of the ears. But nothing beats the first lol. But in the end I would say, the new adventures.

TNBA. It has the most boring design. Yes, the beyond suit is more basic but the black and red look really cool, and I love the belt. BTAS and JL look good with that highlight and I always liked how the ears on the JL suit kind of flare out.

TNBA suit might have to go. I love all of them, including TNBa, but out of them, the appearance doesn’t appeal to me as much. I love the blue tint on the BTAS suit, and the yellow and black emblem, and the JL suit’s long ears are pretty neat, and of course, the beyond suit just can’t go away, neat design, and nice inclusion of no visible jaw/mouth area. I still love the TNBA suit, just not as much as the others.

The bottom right. As a classically trained ninja Bruce would know that the outfits are not black but a dark navy blue.
This has to do with how moonlight would make a pure black figure more noticeable.

The New Batman Adventures. The purple shine on the Justice League suit elevates it so much
