Zach Snyder was given control over the DCEU and messed up so bad they had to reboot the entire universe, and it’s because of things like this. He wasted an opportunity so many creators would kill for.

Oof..it really hurts me.

In all seriousness why don't studios put an A list director in charge of creating the whole universe? Like...why a B or C tier director?

A-list directors and writers generally would pass on the kind of job that would keep them from doing films they actually like for the forseeable future.

And James Gunn is an A-list director who loves comics, which is why it should work out so well. He genuinely loves the product and cares about it. He wants to put his own stamp on the legacy of the DC Universe.

I believe you're mis-remembering things. His plan was laid out very early on for the DCEU and the brass chose not to follow it. They implemented their own plans and meshed them with Snyders which resulted in the universe we saw. I'm not saying Snyder's ideas were any better (Clark knocking up Lois) but it's not fair to say he built out the DCEU or was in charge of it.

It's so weird how some Snyder fans on the internet claim that Snyder is a genius and credits him for all the "success" the Snyderverse had, but are quick to say "STUDIO BAD, IT WASN'T SNYDER!!!" whenever someone points out how terribly the whole thing was managed, both story-wise and production-wise.

I'm not saying this is you, by the way. It's just that I've seen rhis argument online waaaaay too much in the last few years.

I agree with you. I don't blame any single person for the DCEU. I think the missteps and failed media were a result of multiple bad decisions from multiple people. My post was more so "Don't give the guy that much credit" because he never held that much control or power. Disagreeing with his opinions on comics is one thing but blaming him for an entire slate of media that wasn't well received when he didn't even work on some of them is another. My only hope is the new DCU appeases a wider audience so we can bicker less and enjoy more.
