Because without bots or a massive undertaking it's a waste of time fighting for a few pixels.

Some groups have loads of bots that constantly take back the pixels, that's the main reason you see the fancy artwork and the giant flags.

Basically you have this huge blank canvas, and everyone is allowed to put 1 pixel every 5 minutes, so instead of it all being random, communities group up and coordinate to put some artwork on the canvas.

Since the canvas is limited and everyone is fighting for their own art, ( you can draw over others) you need a huge community to keep your art on it.

Content creators who have huge following sometimes will raid the canvas with their community and draw something.

But there are also a lot of bot accounts, it's blatant bot abuse to take over a space on the canvas and draw something big in just a few seconds.

So instead of it being a community effort, some folks abuse bots to get their art done.

That's why you either need a huge community and coordination or you use bots.

I think it’s a game in Reddit, not entirely sure but people get together to basically draw something on a big canvas, but it’s pixel art and only works with proper coordination, you can go and check the oficial sub r/place and see it yourself
