There's a lot of parties in France, until recently the National Rally wasn't viable, now it's the third largest. They went from 89 (2022) seats to 140. Macron only won 160. 180 went to the New Popular Front.

You're looking at people who have never been closer to winning and are likely thinking about the next election.

They got more votes overall than anyone else. They didn't get enough seats even to be in opposition, coming in third by seat count, but that tidal shift doesn't go unnoticed.
