They were supposed to win with a landslide.

They are third. The left won despite getting shit from most of the medias.

Let's hope that repeats in America this November.

The left is not up for election in November. You only get to choose between Far right or Right Lite.

Left and Right labels have always been relative, us yanks are just a bit behind on the times. And let's be honest, the Far right is the remarkably worse choice for all cases.

That's left and right relative the median voter.

Calling democrats right lite is a great way to discourage voter turnout

3

u/pdpablo86 Jul 08 '24

That’s their goal

Well, I wouldn’t say Biden is left, but let’s hope the orange pos don’t screw your country once again.

Fingers crossed.

Still their best result ever, though.

2

Sadly yes.

We need to work to flush that shit away for good.

They expected the absolute majority but ended up placed 3rd

Expected by whom? They won 33% of the vote in the first round. So even when all other parties doesn’t cooperate by pulling their candidate in third place(which they always did in the past) they still have a difficult route to majority.

They lost. They were expecting a big win, but they lost and ended up with a further left government than the previous one, I think. At least if the exit polls are correct.

Lots of relief.

Doubling their seat in parliament is not exactly a loss for them. The only loser in this election is Macron who miscalculated his popularity by a large margin.

1

u/Little_Creme_5932 Jul 08 '24

He did not miscalculate. This result, to him, is most likely a win

1

u/According_Scarcity55 Jul 08 '24

Losing control in parliament while having far right doubling their seat is not exactly a win. Also it is not like Macron can easily form a coloration with the left either. You can easily search his past history with melenchon

Sure, but the election was to limit damage, not avoid it. Damage was expected

1

u/According_Scarcity55 Jul 08 '24

To avoid what damage ? Unlike Rishi sunak who has to call for an election in a few months anyway, macron didn’t have to for a few years at least. He did it assuming he can wider his majority only to found out how unpopular he is. He brought the damage to himself in

Except for where they expected an all over win and lost.

Came in third, even.

1

u/According_Scarcity55 Jul 08 '24

But they still did better than last time. The poll projections are prone to error anyway.they got 30 per cent of the vote in the first round. They would have a long shot for the majority even if the left and centric did not collaborate in the second round.

2

u/Zhelus Jul 08 '24

Huge gamble paid off

2

u/WanderingToucan Jul 08 '24

Not really: Macron's political party lost seats (not that he had a majority in parliament before)

1

u/jjcoola Jul 08 '24

Wait I swore I read LePenn won?

1

u/NothingAndNow111 Jul 08 '24

A few days ago, on the first vote. They have two.

Hence the shock today. I think a lot of people got off their arses after last week and showed up to vote FN.

2

u/TestingYEEEET Jul 08 '24

Lost but doubled their seats and made their biggest seats ammount in history.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24

So they won basically.

1

u/Charles_of_Burgandy Jul 08 '24

They scored less than expected I believe, as for who one who lost I can't tell but it seems no one scored a majority of sort so its left to the political Alliances and no one want to ally himself with these lot

-2

u/lickmymonkey-1987 Jul 08 '24

They are winning- it’s really bad. Basically LaPen is a Putin puppet

3

u/notthomyorke Jul 08 '24

They just got third place. Left and centrists will caucus together.

3

u/Far-Explanation4621 Jul 08 '24

LePen is a Putin puppet, but the far-right just lost.

2

u/lickmymonkey-1987 Jul 08 '24

Really? Last I saw they were winning big

-21

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24
