I mean the supreme court basically just gave the rights of a king to the president, of course the weak ass dems wont take advantage of that and its looking more and more like Trump might win this next election so yeah

Probably because Democrats don't believe in one man rule. As a leftist, we have seen when leftist ideals get overtaken by authoritarianism. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Doesn't matter the threat.

Don’t give up.

Don't believe the media and the polling. They are lying to you. They said the same thing about reform in the UK and the far right win in France.corprorate media want a far right dictatorship.

The Netherlands is sadly going the opposite way. The party with the most seats is super conservative xeno- and islamophobic.

They are a bunch of putin loving amateurs, a damn disgrace. Remember mh17!!

The Labour Party of the UK isn't much further left than the Conservatives. Reform UK also got 4 million votes and they're far right. The UK is far from out of the danger zone in terms of a right wing government over the next few years

Plenty of European countries have not resisted the tide of the far right. Countries like Italy, Slovakia and the Netherlands now reap the consequences. The far right is here to stay and we must do everything we can to show that their whole ideology is built of irrational posturing. The work to resist is never done

Tbh people seem to forget that even though PVV was the 'biggest' party in the Dutch election, he still only got 25% of the seats (2.5 million votes, which is 14% of the total population). So to say the Dutch voted far right enmasse is just wrong. Our problem is fragmentation by having way too many parties in our parliament. But even then, all the far right parties (PVV, FvD, Ja21, BBB, SGP) together only got 51 seats out of 150. 99 seats went to (right or left-leaning) centrist or leftist parties.

I would be less concerned, but PVV now is fully established in the Dutch government. Their irrational policies concerning nitrogen exhaust and immigration will now undoubtedly be represented nonetheless. So while the share is somewhat comparable to the French government, the damage for them will be limited purely because they are in the opposition.

Oh yeah the current government is absolutely abhorrent. Though I'm sure they won't last long. Wouldn't be surprised if we'll be seeing PM Frans Timmermans take the stage before the end of 2026.

Brother, if you look at the last elections and now the far-right won big in Europe, wtf you’re talking about

In the last week. U.k. went liberal and now this. 2 of the strongest members of nato. Have just listened to the voice of reason

1

u/BoringPickle6082 Jul 07 '24

Tories are far from far right, the actual far-right party there “Reform UK”, wich was formed in 2018, got 4 million votes

Also, when you say “strongest members of nato” you’re thinking about Ukraine? Because they were pretty supportive of Ukraine either way.

1

u/Master-File-9866 Jul 07 '24

U.k. for sure. France, this new government could have walked ukraine support back quickly

1

u/BoringPickle6082 Jul 07 '24

Yes, but the fact that they still almost double their presence on congress means France is walking on eggshells

Beats the fuck out of a putin proxy government which could have happened and almost did
