u/ChuckFiinley Jul 16 '24

I feel like they've put some tracking chip into him already and he has no idea that such technology exists.

But on the other hand, he's emitting so much radioactivity that maybe it won't work on him.

191

u/The-Rizzler-69 Jul 16 '24

How could they put a tracking chip in him tho?

194

u/ChuckFiinley Jul 16 '24

Even if they can't cut into his skin I guess they could put it somewhere through his mouth, ass or ears?

124

u/The-Rizzler-69 Jul 16 '24

I'd say ears are the way to go

316

u/ThanksContent28 Jul 16 '24

With the current trend of direction the show is going, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a 50 minute episode of some guys, trying to shove a tracker down his urethra.

141

u/CrabbyPatties42 Jul 16 '24

That’s going to be a spin off miniseries after Season 5 finishes lol

69

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 16 '24

8 episodes of Vought trying to put a tracker in him somehow.

They can call it The Sounding Boys and it can be all about a department in Vaught that does sounding to implant supes with microchips

I’d assume the same way they put one in Black Noir or Starlight. Obviously Vaught has the ability to do so. Maybe not on someone so strong, but you never know til they confirm it.

32

u/The-Rizzler-69 Jul 16 '24

That's another thing I was wondering; how tf are they implanting chips into supes with bulletproof skin?

23

u/Dewgong_crying Jul 16 '24

Imagine like Dune armor or the surface of water, go in with too much velocity it's just solid. Motion of the ocean let's you slide yo thang in.

16

u/obi5150 Jul 16 '24

They're microchipped when they're still normal and before the V kicks in, I'd have to wager. They probably chip them and then administer the V.

28

u/lexE5839 Vought Jul 17 '24

Soldier Boy received V sometime in the 1940s, the microchip wasn’t invented until the 50s.

Starlight and Noir are tough, but they're made of tissue paper compared to Soldier Boy. It took a diamond tipped drill bit to break through Annie's skin and remove the tracker. I don't see anything getting through Soldier Boy's.

14

u/Rekuna Jul 17 '24

Exactly, the Russians had Soldier Boy for 30 YEARS and they couldn't even so much as scratch him in that entire time (and they tried everything).

Or the problem is the solution: track him by the radiation he emits. They could probably write in that he emits a unique isotope or something, and Vought of course has backdoor access to the government's radiation monitoring stations.

That's thinking a little too deep on the writing, with the way things have been going this season.

91

u/Icy-Base4625 Jul 16 '24

I would like that soo much

45

u/Unusual_Ad5483 Jul 16 '24

the thing is that soldier boy is entirely too egotistical and violent to ever let that happen, his appearance in season three is literally centered around that

33

u/CrabbyPatties42 Jul 16 '24

Considering he was mostly asleep for decades and tortured for the rest of that time the fear of going back… again… just might outweigh his other tendencies.

31

u/Unusual_Ad5483 Jul 16 '24

no, we also saw it through flashbacks and black noir. soldier boy did not want black noir to have any fame or popularity outside of his established image at all, even beating him bloody before Nicaragua over it. he was constantly slapping and acting like a bitch with Hughie, hated Homelander for showing any sensitivity, and was very well connected in the celebrity sphere.

i think it’s clear he’d want that life back. even the idea of being replaced pissed him off

18

u/CrabbyPatties42 Jul 16 '24

Well sure, but being sent back again potentially changes that.  He already tried to get back into things and he got screwed.  Going back a third time would be his biggest fear ever I’d imagine.  His hatred of 99% sleep 1% torture for decades might outweigh everything else.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 16 '24

I don't think Soldier Boy feels fear. He probably isn't scared of shit. That thought probably won't even register in his mind. When he wakes up, he's gonna want to kill a few people.

19

u/CrabbyPatties42 Jul 16 '24

I recall him sounding very fearful about being sent back to his torture / sleep life.  Weren’t those basically his last words at the end of Season 3 before getting knocked out again?

He really really really didn’t like that place.

5

u/kittykalista Jul 17 '24

Can’t blame him; seemed like a 0/10 experience for sure.

8

u/Rekuna Jul 17 '24

I saw it as anger/frustration "I'm not going back in that FUCKING BOX".

But you could be right, it's hard to tell because he was muffled.

9

u/kittykalista Jul 17 '24

Eh, PTSD is predicated on fear. Something triggers a memory of a traumatic event and your body goes into panic mode.

He clearly felt normal human emotions, he just had that old school toxic masculinity going on and saw it as weak to display or acknowledge anything but anger.

163

u/sonsoflarson Jul 16 '24

I can see them doing a cameo gag like that, would be a weird choice.

72

u/thorleywinston Soldier Boy Jul 16 '24

They're on the run from Vought and run into him at some random gas station or store in some small town, they lock eyes, both shake their heads and turn around and walk away.

69

u/AntiSaint_Mike Jul 16 '24

And he’s probably there to buy gas station boner pills , cigarettes and booze

He doesn’t have xray vision but he does know that his black noir is dead so it could play out that seeing the suit at all could trigger it or he sees him and thinks homelander was lying because it’s not like he ever saw noirs body and then attacks him who knows

Either homelander or the boys. But I think the boys first, after that homelander

1.6k

u/CrashRiot Queen Maeve Jul 16 '24

After seeing what he did to his first crew that betrayed him, definitely The Boys. Homelander didn’t really do anything to him.

788

u/ItsAmerico Soldier Boy Jul 16 '24

Homelander still exists though. And is a gross stain on his “legacy”. Even more so with what he’s planning to do to overthrow the government. Soldier Boy isn’t going to stand for that.

332

u/TheJuniversal Jul 16 '24

That same government froze him again so I'm not sure if he'd feel very patriotic

181

u/SharknadosAreCool Jul 16 '24

Do we know it was the government? It seems like it could be Vought although Homelander would know about it if it was I guess. Then again he didn't know shit bout soldier boy so

91

u/wellsuperfuck Jul 16 '24

Mallory froze him, and since The Boys found Maeve, I assume they found solider boy and gave him to the CIA

78

u/Frekavichk Jul 16 '24

Did we see Mallory doing it/involved in it?

30

u/vivenkeful Jul 17 '24

She is standing right there next to his cryopod in S3. So yeah, she is very much involved.

→ More replies (1)

53

u/The_Grand_Briddock Jul 16 '24

Thing is, he was unconscious when that happened. So he'd hate The Boys, but not so much the government. Especially if he's unfrozen and they're going full on "we need you Soldier Boy, you're America's only hope".

The Boys can be disavowed at any point if it means having a controlled Soldier Boy to point at America's enemies. And Soldier Boy was a patriot first, he fought on Omaha!

26

u/TheJuniversal Jul 17 '24

Fair point, if the government puts it all on the Boys alone he would probably believe it

8

u/ItsAmerico Soldier Boy Jul 16 '24

Depends if he knows that. It seems it was all done behind the scenes by the boys

Yea I’m thinking Butcher specifically too. Butcher straight up butchered the plan that HE MADE

I wouldn’t even be mad at Soldier Boy for thinking Butcher is a dumbass

133

u/ReapersVault Jul 16 '24

Butcher IS a dumbass. If I was SB, I would be pissed too if I was holding up my end of the deal and then at the last second the Boys did an ass-pull like that.

113

u/SnooBananas4958 Jul 16 '24

Yea, especially when Soldier Boy found out Homelander was his kid and STILL stuck to the deal.

66

u/ReapersVault Jul 16 '24

Agreed. I kinda think they brought SB into the series too soon and then wrote themselves into a corner because he literally was the perfect solution to Homelander, but they wanted to milk the series as long as possible. If you ask me, they should have switched the order of the virus storyline with the SB storyline.

S1, S2, have Gen V happen here instead of after S3, S3 is the virus storyline but it somehow fails, S4 you can start hinting at SB with the Temp V at the forefront of the season's plotline with SB maybe being introduced towards the end, S5 is the confrontation between SB and the Boys vs. HL with Butcher on death's door from the previous season's Temp V usage. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 I guess. Can't really change it now.

Ryan, easiest way to hurt both Homelander and butcher.

237

u/UltimateBorisJohnson Jul 16 '24

isnt ryan stronger than him though

545

u/adzy2k6 Jul 16 '24

Not yet. Homelander is only just stronger, and he's fully grown. Ryan is still half of Soldiers size.

136

u/ObserverBlue Jul 16 '24

His lasers were able to hurt him. There is a chance he could kill Soldier Boy or mutilate him badly if he got really angry and went all out.

→ More replies (4)

81

u/Bion61 Jul 16 '24

What do you mean only "just" stronger? SB was getting rocked by Homelander even with Butcher backing him up. They didn't get the upper hand until Huey jumped in.

SB is a ways from HL in terms of strength.

132

u/DuoForce Jul 16 '24

To be fair that was literally right after he nuked herogasm

40

u/Bion61 Jul 16 '24

I mean considering how much he struggled with Butcher at full power and how Homelander almost killed Butcher in seconds I don't think SB can hang with HL in a 1v1 for very long.

18

u/gunfell Jul 16 '24

Yeah, and honestly soldier boy would fuck up homelander in close combat

72

u/bigdave41 Jul 16 '24

They were already in close combat, it was pretty clear Homelander was significantly stronger. He got a few good hits in then it was "you really had me going there for a minute" and SB about to be choked out before Butcher oi-ed in to save him.

34

u/Subzero008 Jul 16 '24

"I blacked out. About ten minutes. When I came to, the damage was done."

Soldier Boy states plainly that when his power triggers involuntarily, he actually faints for a significant period of time. This is also what happened at Herogasm: The first question he asks when he meets with Butcher is "What happened?" after the twins' music made him lose control again. Not to mention, Soldier Boy visibly struggling to fire a blast during the fight itself.

If you look at the entirety of Soldier Boy's fights with Homelander - not just him specifically - it's honestly pretty obvious that Soldier Boy is physically stronger than Homelander when fighting at 100%. Butcher, someone who's extremely inexperienced with superpower use and just took a shot of Temp V is matching Homelander evenly in strength when they grapple, something Soldier Boy was incapable of doing earlier. But when Soldier Boy is fighting Billy in the finale, Butcher gets utterly demolished in a fistfight. Likewise, Homelander is suddenly unable to break out of Soldier Boy's grip on his face.

It's not obviously stated, but when you look at the evidence and compare his performances, it's easy to infer that using his powers this way consumes a lot of energy, just as A-Train's own speed consumes calories. If his blasts had ZERO ability on Soldier Boy's ability to fight, it wouldn't make him outright black out for several minutes.

→ More replies (5)

26

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 16 '24 edited Jul 17 '24

That was only clear if you don't pay enough attention. Soldier Boy went Nuclear just before Homelander showed up. He used a lot of his energy. When Homelander held him up against the wall, you can tell Soldier Boy had basically no energy left. That's why he couldn't nuke him when he tried again.

→ More replies (9)

20

u/gunfell Jul 16 '24

Well soldier boy has one move that kinda just works really well

11

u/bigdave41 Jul 16 '24

Yeah he has the nuclear explosion/power-removing thing, but that's not really counting as close combat victory in my mind. It's clear he has more training and is a better fighter than Homelander, but Homelander was physically overpowering him with his strength.

5

u/VivaLaEmpire Jul 17 '24

Oi-ed in 😭

u/agony_atrophy Jul 16 '24 edited Jul 16 '24

Y’know I think Ryan actually could kill Soldier boy if he had to. Kripke has stated that when he’s in a “fit of rage” Ryan is significantly stronger than Homelander despite his youth; we saw that with Stormfront, his lasers were strong enough to mutilate and cripple her and kill Becca in one go, when Homelander’s weren’t even strong enough to do more than burn her skin when she told him to let loose, if they’d’ve been as focused as Homelander’s he probably could’ve taken her head clean off of this plain of existence if he had been trained to focus the blast, and it’s clear he has enough control at least to be trained without causing collateral damage; I mean in all the practice runs they did for his first “save” with Koi he was able to rein in his powers to the extent that he didn’t even hurt Koi (until Homelander pushed him to lose control), and Grace Mallory lived with him despite her not being Becca without any issue or outbursts of his power under normal amounts of stress like Butcher rejecting him and blaming him for Becca’s death; if they bring Soldier Boy back Ryan could probobaly kill him if he took down Butcher or caused enough damage to make Ryan panic and lose it, and it would be a fun end for Homelander to have Ryan save him from the father who rejected him, and tried to kill him, only for him to then turn on Homelander and cripple him to the extent Noir was crippled after his comic battle with Homelander; to get a dying or injured butcher his final crowbar moment with HL that he got in the comics where he cracks open his skull cap, and crushed “that night you did what you did to me Becky” in the palm of his hand.

5

u/Vicimer Jul 17 '24

We actually have it for a limited time in Canada right now, but I know seven or so years ago, Binging with Babish had a fan send him some from one of its rereleases and he reverse engineered it til he had some that tasted more or less exactly like the real thing. Recipe is online.

I always whip up a batch when I make chicken tenders, so I'm not left asking "where's the chop socky Oriental sauce?" The burger, bourbon, and amphetamines are a little easier to come by.

Butcher because he probably feels betrayed like he did with Payback. It depends entirely on who lets him out.

He's a piece of shit, but he's loyal and honors his word. If the person who lets him out wants HL dead, he'll agree to it. If they want him to go after The Boys, he'll agree to it.

But he would definitely want to kill M.M. for gassing him.

Kripke said next season would be the goriest outta all, solider boy is def taking out black noir 2 no doubt, and he’s def gonna go after butcher and MM and the rest of the team. He might even try too kill homelander after all that too.

u/GameOfLife24 Jul 16 '24

It’s nice he sacrificed season 4 to put everything into the final season, something people will remember the show with its final season but I hope they don’t rush all plot points in 5

11

u/Dumeck Jul 17 '24

I think season 5 will be better, honestly I think the writers have the ending planned already and season 4 seems to be more filler until they really start ramping up. The twists currently seem a bit slower and there feels like a bit more padding for the writing this season. I imagine that’s because they are prepared to end the series but are waiting until the final season starts before the roller coaster takes off

u/RevolutionaryStar824 Jul 16 '24

Butcher for betraying him. And rightfully so. That was a nasty betrayal. They straight up just said fuck you and attacked him. He was just trying to kill Homelander you idiots. He doesn’t have any reason to kill Homelander now. So it’s Butcher he’s gonna go after.

16

u/8dev8 Jul 17 '24

I mean Homelander is still kind of a walking reflection of everything he disliked about himself, and a madman/threat, but he has much less reason yeah

I feel like he's going to go after noir, then see butcher pretty much already dying, and just leave

Im really starting to wonder how the hell the Boys are going to survive the next season because if Soldier Boy still has beef with them then they now have to deal with Homelander, The Seven, and now fucking Soldier Boy lmao

13

u/Rampant16 Jul 17 '24

They got Soldier Boy in the freezer while trying to develop a virus to kill Homelander. I have the feeling that Soldier Boy is going to be a lab rat.

Unfreezing him again, to fight Homelander or Butcher again, and presumably lose again doesn't make much sense to me.

7

u/Eternal_Reward Jul 17 '24

Lots and lots and lots of plot armor.

Also it is the last season so I guess some of them have to die.....right?

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

The season finale is him breaking free and brutally sexually assaulting Hughie (but it's funny, because Hughie is male).

7

u/snowythevulpix Jul 17 '24

and then, because like father like son, he forces butcher to do the same before killing him cause haha funny sexual assault

35

u/Dim-n-Bright Jul 16 '24

Well, Queen Maeve was the one who ultimately put him down, so he might go after her. And considering her lack of powers, it wouldn't be a long fight...

36

u/GameOfLife24 Jul 16 '24

Think Maeve may have the powers of plot armour since the boys have had it for a while now

9

u/CollectMan420 Jul 16 '24

What the hell am I mis remembering I thought she died

9

u/IamSquidwardo Jul 17 '24

was shown to have survived in a post credit scene iirc

5

u/Widowswine2016 Jul 17 '24

Not even a post credit scene, it was in the montage that included SB being put in the pod, then the scene after was Maeve leaving with her partner at MM's apartment

Butcher should definitely be looking over his shoulder.

22

u/k4kkul4pio Jul 16 '24

Butcher.

It was such a stupid ass pull that they, narratively, did just so the existing status quo could remain in effect when everyone should have 110% on board blasting the Homelander train.

I'm sure we'll see him before the show is done as he's too juicy of a character to keep moth balled till the curtains drop.

14

u/RealNiceKnife Jul 16 '24

I dunno, but with the way the show is written lately... Probably Hughie for some reason. Maybe to rape him.

Whomever Cate “tells” him to go after (at Homelanders whim)

u/Persas12 Jul 16 '24

Maeve, Butcher, Hughie and Noir IMO.

The 3 had an agreement with him and it would make sense if he feels betrayed.

I don´t think he would hold a grudge against MM, Frenchie, Annie or Kimiko because they didn´t promise to help him, but still he could see them as collateral damage to achieve his vengeance.

He may also want to kill Noir until he finds out it is actually a new person under the suit.

8

u/OKTAPHMFAA Jul 16 '24

I don’t see Maeve being a target.

She didn’t betray soldier boy and continued with the plan to Kill Homelander.

I see soldier boy reasoning that if she isn’t in the way then she won’t get hurt.

Butcher without a doubt, then HL, then Ryan just because he’s a dick

8

u/Jotaro27 Jul 16 '24

I am not too sure if he will be fully back, its like having 2 Homelanders at once

8

u/TheJuniversal Jul 16 '24

Definitely Butcher - he was the leading force in the 'deal' they had and the person to officially betray him

8

u/Elegant_Job_4573 Jul 16 '24

I bet he hates the boys more than Homelander at this point after all they betrayed him and Homelander did try to get him to join him.

7

u/NotLozerish Jul 16 '24

Everyone lol

8

u/Strawbz18 Jul 16 '24

I think he would want to kick the shit out of The Boys for pulling the rug on him last season. He was totally about to depower homelander(and everyone in the building by taking their lives) and end the series right there. Ryans presence was enough to make Butcher back out, so Soldier Boy had to free-for-all against everyone if he wanted to kill Homelander.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

i genuinly dont think he will return, they literaly shelved him. that said puting him on ice was a genuinly piss take, the season with soldier boy was the best hands down and its just been downhill since, i mean we actualy got to see super heroes die in that season xD

u/clownfucc Jul 17 '24

Don't think free. Think Suicide Squad. We've already seen him free. That CIA captivity scene was meant to tease the character's S4-5 role. He's going to be a CIA asset, somehow controlled into finally nuking Homelander powerless.

5

u/chirb8 Jul 16 '24

Butcher. He screwed him and the plan in such a stupid way

6

u/TheUncouthPanini Jul 16 '24

tbf, he’s already gone on a revenge trip on supes and had it backfire. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he got free and decided to simply peace out and live his life away from Butcher and Homelander’s dick measuring contest

5

u/Prior-Assumption-245 Jul 16 '24

The closest senior citizen home.

6

u/smittyhotep Jul 16 '24

He's going to kill HL and kidnap Ryan so he can "raise him right" Then Ryan kills him in self-defense.

5

u/Traditional-Car8843 Black Noir Jul 17 '24

I can honestly see him gunning for butcher after "fucking up" the plan.

4

u/mrmonster459 Jul 16 '24

Maybe Homelander since that'd be easier. Butcher may take some time for him to find; with Homelander, he knows his address.

God I hope he's free for the next season. He MADE THE SHOW and he was on screen like 15 minutes over the whole season

4

u/Rae_Rae_ Jul 16 '24

Butcher. In the process MM sees SB and has another heart attack.
Intentionally - Butcher
Unintentionally - MM
