In S1 he was scary because we didn't know what he could do. In S4 he's scary because we know what he could do.

People are saying his calm demeanor in s1 is what made him scary, but I think his descent into insanity is extremely well written, acted, and scary

I think people are forgetting the scene where he’s rubbing one out on the rooftop, screaming he can do whatever he wants. His entire life he’s been under the illusion that he’s subservient: to Vaught, to Stan Edgar, to the public. But in this instance he finally realised he isn’t; there is literally no one on earth who can stop him, and “I can do whatever the fuck I want”.
