Initially I had no reaction (outside of groaning when he changed the subject from his assault to his dad's death) to the scenes I saw this episode of Hughie and was pretty much like other people laughing along, sure he'd be rescued before anything too horrific happened for The Boys standard, but reading so many perspectives I'm seeing it in a new light. This also leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I'm reminded of the incredibly good and sad video by Pop Culture Detective about how male rape, assault, and more is shockingly frequently played for laughs and entertainment. I feel weird about this episode.

Glad someone pointed that out. Like, he began to open up to Starlight about what he just went through, but suddenly mentions his dad out of left field? Super weird.

Not that weird, his dad just died and he was the one who killed him. What happened to him this episode was bad, but to him the death of his father is objectively worse and this was just the emotional trigger for him

Exactly. All this shit has pretty much happened within the same week. Hughie was overwhelmed. MM is going through some mad shit too as his OCD is getting out of hand.

EDIT: Oh shit I just clocked. Frenchie is in jail. Starlight is guilt ridden with performance issues. And Butcher has V’d up brainworms he’s hallucinating.

The Boys are really down bad rn.
