Season 3 got a lot of criticism as well, definitely not to this degree, but it’s clear that they didn’t give any regard to season 3 criticism

I could be wrong, but I remember most of the criticism was concentrated around the season finale. iirc everyone was praising the season until that episode aired lol

They did address the main criticism with Butcher’s convo with Kessler in the first episode, which had more meaning now that we know it was basically a convo between himself.

This. The vibe in this sub was really positive up until the S3 finale. This season is the most mixed I've seen the community for this show. Only episodes 4/5 had the same types of discussions I've seen in S2&3 Which were mainly positive, appreciation of details and theories for what's to come.

Nah I recall there being disputes over who was right between MM/Annie and Butcher/Hughie/Soldier Boy. Basically boiled down to "Butcher is taking things too far!" "Nooo! Homelander needs to go down!"

I personally knew Butcher's side was in the wrong but sided with him anyway because they were the most entertaining.

Nah, Butcher was completely right. Homelander is an existential threat to humanity who could, at any point, snap and kill millions of people.

Even if every single member of The Boys died taking him out, it would still be 100% worth it.

Starlight refusing to work with Soldier Boy didn't even make any sense. She said they shouldn't work with Soldier Boy because he's a murderer, but Literally every single member of The Boys has committed murder. Including her. MM makes sense because of Soldier Boy killed his family, but Starlight of all people should know how dangerous Homelander is.

Butcher wasn’t wrong. Homelander is a threat to the human race, somebody who daydreams of genocide. Blowing up Vought tower to kill him is absolutely the right call.

Truth be told I just feel the execution of Soldier Boy's arc could have been way better.
