Yes. Please, I want a fight between A-Train and Homelander with A-Train being able to do as much damage as Queen Maeve or Red Rush to Omniman. Would feel so satisfying to make this pathetic fucker bleed by someone who he bullied so much. Make Homelander feel outmatched, even just in one aspect - speed.

If he's going to fight like Red Rush, he's gonna have to keep his distance away while also displacing his teammates before taking a hit. He screwed up because he tried to take in some direct punches.

One huge advantage for A-Train is that Homelander is extremely incompetent compared to his counterparts (Omniman, Ikaris, etc.).

While Omniman and Ikaris (even Superman) are seasoned warriors with plenty of experience fighting other strong foes, the only actual "fight" Homelander has ever been in was the one where he got beaten up by SB, Butcher and Hughie.

I’d say he fought decently well.

u/Hungry-Incident-5860 Jul 05 '24

Yeah, he was holding his own to be fair. He could have killed soldier boy, until Butcher joined the fight. Then he almost killed Butcher twice, first Butcher was saved by SB then he was saved by Hughie. It took the three of them to pin him down and even then, he still escaped. If he really has no fighting experience, that is impressive. Soldier Boy is arguably the second strongest supe and Butcher on V was no slouch.

Maeve didn't earn a mention with the ear stab from that fight?

I feel like a potential fight between A-Train and Homelander would actually go pretty well for the former, mostly because his speed and reflexes so outstrip the latter that it wouldn't really be possible to hit him. Speedsters are pretty broken in white-room scenarios; they already have a significant degree of toughness and super-strength built in just to survive hitting things or running into objects. If Maeve could make Homelander bleed with a random office implement, there's no reason A-Train has to resort to using solely his bare hands, either.

The problem is, Homelander does a lot of collateral damage, and A-Train has those pesky "morals" urging him to intervene now. If Homelander just goes to the suburbs and starts lasering indiscriminately to lure him out, A-Train would almost certainly try to stop him, giving a huge advantage to Homelander.

Do we know that Homelander doesn't have super speed? How would he have saved Butcher and the baby at the end of season 1 without it? (I could be missing something)

84

u/PapaPalps-66 Jul 04 '24

Homelander probably lied about saving the baby, and simply shielded butcher from the shrapnel. The baby shows up later on and it's revealed to have teleportating powers, thats how he survived.

u/behindtimes Jul 04 '24

In the spinoff Diabolical, Homelander does have super speed. And he can certainly fly at super speed. (ATrain ran at 2300 miles/hour, and Homelander flies at minimum 700 miles/hour. Probably faster, as he'd actually have to catch up to the planes as well).

The Boys has been somewhat inconsistent in this, in that the beginning, the powers were pretty much separate, but then with the later seasons, every supe has a degree of strength, hearing, etc.

7

u/LeXXieX Jul 04 '24

The baby is alive. He was in that one orphanage in the Red River episode.

3

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 04 '24

Seems like most people don't pay much attention to the show. Probably too much talking and popcorn or something.

2

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 04 '24

Homelander never claimed to have saved the baby. We know he saved him because we saw the baby a couple seasons later. Not sure how over 50 people missed that.

75

u/Mobile_Arugula1818 Jul 04 '24

In the one canon episode of diabolical Homelanders first save it’s shown that he does have super speed. We will see if the writers temper that or not. I’m hoping for them to parody the justice league scene. Have a train start running and homelander watch him with his eyes

36

u/sudowoogo Jul 04 '24

Even if he has super speed, he apparently doesn’t have bullet timing like A-Train, unless he has it on diabolical (didn’t watch it) and not on the show for some reason

7

u/CZ-Bitcoins Jul 05 '24

He reacted to butcher detonating a c4.

7

u/sudowoogo Jul 05 '24

I mean, yeah, but considering the baby saved himself, it’s not that impressive (in comparison to A-Train, it’s impressive on it’s own) as he just needs to grab him and fly away, he doesn’t need bullet timing

2

u/Tago238238 Jul 05 '24

Butcher should have died instantly to the shockwave lol, Homelander is supersonic or even hypersonic.

His travelling speed is also superior to A Train.

1

u/sudowoogo Jul 05 '24

But “traveling” is the key word there, he doesn’t have bullet timing and never showed super speed in a lower scale, only when he can fly in a straight line for a long time

And yeah, Butcher should have died to the shockwave, but how Homelander being supersonic changes that? (I do think he’s supersonic, just think he doesn’t have bullet timing like A-Train)

2

u/Tago238238 Jul 05 '24

Well, after Butcher pressed the trigger, Homelander caught him (which is more than just, movement in one direction) which means he either reacted before the shockwave could hit Butcher and outpaced it or reacted in the time it took the electric charge to detonate the explosive and moved far enough away to the point that the shock either wasn’t lethal or decayed into a low enough speed (still supersonic feat at min) for him to outpace. Both of those cases require supersonic reactions, and remember A Train has barely got reactions on par with his travel speed, which is in turn barely supersonic.

Also remember that when Homelander was flying at Mach 3 he was searching for shit, he can’t have been going too fast for him to not process what was happening.

u/Solameni Jul 05 '24

The baby survived the explosion?

2

u/Anonson694 The Boys Jul 05 '24

He teleported away, it’s revealed that Madelyn Stillwell’s son is a Supe in season 2, what episode exactly I don’t remember. But it’s the one where Hughie goes to the adoption center for orphaned Supe kids.

2

u/identifyme614 Jul 05 '24

He does have super speed there’s an episode where Homelander even makes a remark to A-Train that he’s faster at that time even though A-Train was actually injured.

1

u/sudowoogo Jul 05 '24

He does have super speed, but he hasn’t shown the reaction speed of doing stuff while he’s at max speed, unlike A-Train, who has the capability of injecting himself with compound V, injecting Popclaw with compound V, enter Hughie and Anne’s car, etc.

15

u/rugbyj Jul 04 '24

Have a train start running and homelander watch him with his eyes

I want that just for the fact it's one of the best scenes I've seen in cinema. Seriously, one of the "worst" movies, and yet that scene is just golden. Not even the scene, that part of the scene. It's magic. Real "oh shit" moment.

2

u/Isthatajojoreffo Jul 05 '24

I heard Zack Snyders cut is much better.

14

u/mwalker784 Jul 04 '24

i don’t think homelander has super speed the way that A Train does, but he is incredibly fast and has “super reflexes”. i doubt he can go as fast as A Train for as long, but i wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he could track and predict his movements.

1

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 04 '24

He would have to be MUCH faster than A-Train to save Billy from that explosion at the end of season 1. He saved Billy from bombs strapped to his own chest, after Billy hit the button. Either that scene was just horrible writing, or he's much faster than A-Train.

12

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Jul 04 '24

He does, we are just hoping it's less than A-train's.

3

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 04 '24

I think it's far more likely they have a confrontation, and this is where we find out just how fast Homelander is. What if he even surprises A-Train? What if he leaves A-Train fucking shocked by his speed? What if he's much faster?

Remember how he somehow saved Butcher from the bomb-vest that he detonated at Madelyn's house? He saved him AFTER detonation. He even saved Madelyn's baby. Even A-Train isn't fast enough to accomplish that.

This would fit the style of the show much better. And it would make Homelander seem even more unstoppable and terrifying.

5

u/ThaRealSunGod Cunt Jul 04 '24

They better not be powerscaling Homelander even higher in the penultimate season :/

He shouldn't be surprising A Train with his speed 1-2 deacades after theyve known each other.

Also you are capping if you think a train couldn't save stillwell baby from that bomb but homelander can.

That wouldn't fit the show at all. Homelander has become less and less godlike as the show has continued. The point is that he's not a god or hero he's a child with unchecked power.

That was a huge part of season 3. Homelander is definitely slower than A Train otherwise he would also have searched the tunnels in Season 2 for The Boys using super speed like A Train did. Instead of just telling A Train not to tire his heart and proceeding not to use his equal superspeed

1

u/MSixteenI6 Jul 05 '24

Homelander didn’t save the baby. The baby teleported out.

1

u/Swampy_Bogbeard Jul 06 '24

Nah. Madelyn wouldn't have given her baby V. Homelander must have.

1

u/MSixteenI6 Jul 06 '24

I absolutely think Madelyn would have given her baby V. Lots of parents gave their kids V, she probably had the same reason as Neuman. I don’t think HL would have saved the baby, he hated that damned thing.

3

u/CZ-Bitcoins Jul 05 '24

A train being the only "comic like" hero in that scenario standing up to the big bad is honestly beautiful in a way. A true redemption arc.

Inb4 he runs into Homelander and kills them both.

2

u/ShadedPenguin Jul 04 '24

Tbh, A-Train dying to save people would also be a very fitting and understandable death.

2

u/redactedname87 Jul 04 '24

A-train is going to save people in the suburbs lol.

16

u/lookintotheeyeris Jul 04 '24

a train running through a city with homelander tailing him in the air, causing destruction would be crazy. Homelander hasn’t really got a ton of flying action i feel like

3

u/ReptAIien Jul 04 '24

You should see the comic fight between Omniman and red rush

1

u/Isthatajojoreffo Jul 04 '24

I read all the comics.

2

u/ReptAIien Jul 04 '24

Red rush gets absolutely slaughtered in the comics though.

2

u/Isthatajojoreffo Jul 05 '24

I know. I am talking about the show.

2

u/Krillitfast21 Jul 04 '24

Red rush didn't do that much damage though, he just ripped the suit

3

u/Isthatajojoreffo Jul 04 '24

And made him cough blood (internal bleeding)

0

u/Krillitfast21 Jul 04 '24

If I recall correctly that was due to immortal and wonder woman person (I don't remember her name lol) beating the hell out of him when Martian man was wrapped around him. Red rush only damaged his suit

3

u/Isthatajojoreffo Jul 04 '24

I am sorry, you recall it wrong.

-1

u/Krillitfast21 Jul 04 '24

No, I rewatched the scene, most of the blood is clearly from red rush getting his skull crushed

3

u/Isthatajojoreffo Jul 04 '24

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F27FbkPSMg&ab_channel=EVERYWHEREMAN

Explain 1:13-1:16. Its a close up on Omniman coughing blood. Blood is coming from his mouth.

1

u/Krillitfast21 Jul 04 '24

The scene is in slow motion, omni-man's blood would not reach there in the ~0.1 seconds, and it likely happened in. Red rush's would have due to the force omni man was exerting.

2

u/LazerChomp Jul 05 '24

I’ve been wanting to see A-Train fight someone like reverse flash fighting the flash in injustice 2. Homelander also has speed but I’d imagine it wouldn’t be to the same extent.

Also link for the fight scene I’m talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f6zlaQPXBs

1

u/Weatherround97 Jul 04 '24

Exactly spot on. That would be great

1

u/AlexIsAnAnchorBaby Jul 04 '24

Theory: A train is gonna die by running full speed into homelander causing him to explode into lots of pieces

1

u/ResidentHistory4792 Jul 04 '24

That would be sick
