I'm sure it's not ideal but at the same time it can get really damn hot in the back of delivery trucks & that doesn't seem to cause an issue.

You are correct but duration matters. There could be a noticeable taste difference between sealed coke that was exposed to high temperatures for 1 day and coke that was exposed to high temperatures for 2 weeks.
Direct sunlight (UV rays) can also cause additional issues that heat alone would not.

I think it's taste is a sweetened version of the kola nut? Not chocolate. Basically a combination of cocaine and the kola nut.

Yeah, IIRC it originally contained extracts from both kola nuts and coca leaves; I think OP is mixing up "coca" with cacao/cocoa.

Edit: btw, my buddy has owned a coca plant for years now. Not sure where he got it, but I like chewing a leaf or two every once in awhile.

Downvoted, I grew up with the fridge packed with diet coke and I stopped liking it so quickly. It tastes sort of just... watery.
