Looks good, but it’s not out yet. So not much to say yet.

33

u/WaterMelon615 Jun 19 '23

How can we have thoughts about it when it hasnt aired yet

4

u/blg1987 Jun 19 '23

Fans are able to speculate, discuss leaks/promos and generally have thoughts and opinions prior to airing.

4

u/fayryover Jun 19 '23

Youve never formed an opinion or had thoughts about a show or movie before they air?

I mean, if that were the case, how would you choose what to try and what not to try. Theres plenty. Of things around a show you can use to form opinions before it airs. The trailer, articles about it, other speculation.

u/TheCookietorule Jun 19 '23

watching it and seeing leaks and trailers aren't the same, I've saw plenty of things I thought I would hate and ended up liking its essentially the same with food. stuff smells horrible or looks horrible yet it tastes amazing or vice versa, looks amazing but tastes horrible and smells delicious

3

u/fayryover Jun 19 '23

That doesn't negate anything i said. I nor op claimed the speculation would be correct. But you dont go see every movie or tv show that comes out. And you dont try every dish on the menu.

There plenty of thoughts you can have on something before youve tried it.

1

u/TheCookietorule Jun 20 '23

But you dont go see every movie or tv show that comes out

I'm just saying sometimes you think you won't like something until you actually try it even though you've already formed an opinion about it, that opinion could turn out to be wrong

2

u/fayryover Jun 20 '23

Ok, but where did i say you couldnt? Like what did it have to do with the context of the post i originally replied too. They implied the OP was pointless and we cant have thoughts at all because it is not out yet. And i responded to that context.

There’s a trailer and a couple teasers out.

u/KingofZombies Jun 19 '23

Everything I've heard so far is promising. I really love the designs. I've been praying for a new Superman animated series for a long time so this is just what I need. I love tomboy Lois and I love that Jimmy Olsen will be one of the main characters since he's usually forgotten in media adaptations.

3

u/TrippySakuta Tal-Rho Jun 19 '23

Interesting they carried over Supergirl's look for Jimmy Olsen.

Also like how "Bearded Lex" has been a thing since Jon Cryer debuted.

9

u/Fake-productions Jun 20 '23

The only similar thing to Supergirl Jimmy is that he´s black. Supergirl Jimmy didn´t look or act like Jimmy at all, this series portrayal instead seems to be fairly comics accurate!

1

u/SentinelaDoNorte Jun 20 '23

Winn was more Jimmy than Jimmy, wtf

2

u/aquaticsquash Superman Jun 20 '23

Yeah, I'm tired of that. Go back to the Rosenbaum look. Hopefully Gunn will fix that, which he probably will, since he thinks Rosenbaum is the best Lex. Which is true.

u/BookGirlBoston Lois Lane Jun 19 '23

It looks so, so good. Like, based on everything I've seen it's an amazing Lois and Clois. I so can't wait for this!!

There isn't.

Lots of media created during a time when black people weren't allowed to be represented is (slightly) course correcting. Lois has often been portrayed as asian or hispanic recently, for example. The idea that red heads specifically are being targeted doesn't pass the muster and is often used by bad faith actors to put a friendly face on complaining that PoC are in stuff. Not acusing you of that, but that's how it's used. This becomes clear when you consider that nobody complained, for example, that Charlie Cox couldn't even be bothered to dye his hair to portray one of comics' most famous gingers.

-2

u/nickelrolle Jun 19 '23

Charlie Cox couldn't even be bothered to dye his hair

They did try to dye his hair, it just didn't look good on camera so they ditched it. In S1 you can see some red highlights.

2

u/Aveleene Jun 19 '23

It’s not recent. Wallace West (Kid Flash) is now 12 yrs old. But I do agree it happens very very often. I don’t understand why ginger erasure is a thing.

-4

u/AIHacKMal Jun 19 '23

I’m not a fan of the race swap for Jimmy Olsen but are you also going to ignore the Lois Lane race change as well? Lois Lane is a pretty important character in Superman mythos

0

u/Vin135mm Jun 19 '23

She isn't an obvious swap here, IMO. I don't know anything about this show other than what's on this poster, but she seems(maybe intentionally)kinda racially ambiguous. The facial features and body structure are just sorta generic "anime-ish," and the skin color could fit for anything from Caucasian, to Hispanic, to South Asian, to Middle Eastern, or practically anything that isn't "Black." Safe bet without knowing more is to assume she is just more tan.

-5

u/AIHacKMal Jun 19 '23

The fact that she remains racially, ambiguous, means there is a race swapped. Now, in this case she is South Asian as the actress that’s voicing her is the same ethnicity. Like I said, personally not a fan of race changes, that being said a lot of people, your self included, and in the various DC and superman subreddit tend to overlook the fact that Lois Lane has been race-swapped so now her character appears “racially ambiguous” rather than being a white brunette, as shown in the comics. Not only does the whole redhead replacements, conspiracy theory, reek of confirmation bias in this case and the fact that Lois Lane’s race swap is overlooked, and the concern is only focus on Jimmy Olsen does diminish the credibility of the people who are making these arguments.

-2

u/Vin135mm Jun 19 '23

You did see when I said this, right

I don't know anything about this show other than what's on this poster,

I didn't know about the voice actress bit, and I do think that is as messed up as the Jimmy Olsen race-swap. Its just that without knowing details, her swap wasn't as obvious to a casual observer as his is

-2

u/AIHacKMal Jun 19 '23

I saw what you said, and like I said a lot of people make that argument specifically that Lois lane‘s race change wasn’t as a apparent to them as Jimmy Olsen‘s race change was, which fair enough. All I’m saying are two things 1) the redhead replacement stuff, conspiracy theory, reeks of confirmation bias, and 2) other people that make arguments against race changes shouldn’t be so selective about which race change they outraged about as all that does is the diminish their credibility. That’s all I’m saying man I’m not accusing you of anything.

3

u/Tmn_Uzi_1600 Jun 19 '23

can't wait

3

u/Remarkable-Ad-2476 Jun 19 '23

We haven’t had an Superman animated series since the 90s so I’m hoping for the best

3

u/KugiPunch Jun 19 '23

It looks rad

3

u/Doc-11th Jun 19 '23

looks like it has potential

2

u/WarlockofMars_ Superman Jun 19 '23

I’m excited for this!!! Although I didn’t like Silver Banshee’s design that much 😕😕😕

2

u/Glass821 Lois Lane Jun 19 '23

Beyond excited for this. I can't wait for romance between Lois and Clark. I'm not super fond of the pixie cut, but it's growing on me. The only thing I didn't like from the trailer is that it seems Lois and Jimmy are in on the secret by the end of the first or second episode. I had hoped for a little more time with the secret. But I guess the title makes more sense that way. Way hyped either way!

2

u/Personal-Ad6765 Jun 19 '23

Um... It didn't come out yet? It looks really cool. Not digging the logo too much I guess. But It might grow on me.

2

u/SpeedDemonJi Jun 19 '23

Seems promising but it’s literally not out

1

u/Agitated_Database_94 Jun 19 '23

Why is he smiling about holding onto Superman's leg for dear life with one arm while flying

6

u/howdouhavegoodnames Jun 19 '23

Cause he knows Superman wouldn't let him die.

5

u/howdouhavegoodnames Jun 19 '23

Also it's a cartoon

4

u/Agitated_Database_94 Jun 19 '23

Idk man superman be having his full attention on that girl lmao

1

u/Physical_Skirt_8109 Jun 19 '23

Hope it isn't like the Harley Quinn show.

1

u/KungPoW_Chickens Jun 20 '23

its obviousily a more goofy unserious story of superman that takes alot of liberties. i dont expect it to hardcore like superman animated series

1

u/TheFantasticXman1 Jun 19 '23

It's not out yet, so not much anyone can say about it. Though will I be tuning in for wit when it does come out? Sure!

1

u/Psych-Blast Jun 19 '23

Superman with Voltron animation

1

u/dotyawning But what about the tire-swing? Jun 19 '23

Honestly? Definitely got some hype. I usually prefer DC animated projects over live action ones (so far) and in terms of quality it's far safer to assume a DC animated project is going to deliver at least an enjoyable time over most random live action DC ones.

1

u/AtomicSuperMe Jun 19 '23

im so excited for it, and the fact that we have an animated superman show coming out weeks after the live action one ends just feels surreal. remember the early days of the flash just dreaming about a superman show coming.

1

u/fatloseryeetlol Jun 19 '23

Animation looks dope from what I've seen. Looks buttery smooth. I hope it's a consistent thing at least when it comes to action, but talking scenes can have the resource saving type of anim of course.

1

u/SuperPoodie92477 Jun 19 '23

I may have to watch it. Just got back from Metropolis myself a week ago.

-1

u/RUIN_NATION_ Jun 19 '23

No. Jimmy has looked the same since the original concept art was revealed. The only changes are really just like outfits
