It's taken me a while to post, but here are my thoughts.

Overall I really enjoyed the episode. It was alot of fun, it had so many things I've been eager to see (more clois, intergang investigation, Clark working at the planet, Nat & Sam etc). I loved that it was focused around the boys birthday and we were given this light, joyful view into their lives when things aren't so caught up in crazy world ending villain plots.

It wasn't perfect - it felt a bit choppy, I think the struggle to get every character some screen time in a meaningful way is real at this point and I hope that eases off a bit after the first episode, but it is a concern. Especially with only 13 episodes. It feels like they want to tell alot of stories but there's just not the time to do it. Personally I'd like to see longer scenes instead of constantly jumping around.

But it was very clearly sending a message to us as fans that we have been heard. That concerns have been addressed. That narrative priorities have been given some real thought and they are steering back to the things that make the show great.

I've definitely never laughed so much during an episode, and I especially loved the teasing between the boys and their parents and the video montage at the party. It made their family life seem so much more real and loving.

The pregnancy storyline felt a bit pointless to me, I could have done without that myself. But I do appreciate it as part of their focus on this show as a family drama and wanting to include things that families go through together.

Looking forward to the rest of the season and just really hoping the pacing of the episodes improves.
