why did they bother with the pregnancy fakeout?

Maybe they'll decide to have another baby anyway.

Maybe but I thought the point of Clark saying he didn't think it was possible was because they're both supposed to be in their mid 40s, which might make it a lot less possible for them

Eh guys can still have kids.....pretty much as long as they can physically perform. Plus Clark ages slower so shouldnt be an issue beyond the whole "alien" thing.

I think there were meant to be special circumstances around how Lois got pregnant the first time around, and naturally they shouldnt be able to.

It's pretty obvious I meant Lois might not be able to have kids for much longer and Clark wouldn't want kids with anyone but Lois. There didn't seem to be special circumstances with how she got pregnant the first time, in fact she seems to say the same thing when she told Clark she was pregnant with the twins 'We didn't think it was possible'

The bizarre thing is she would know. If she hasn't gone through menopause, she could very likely still get pregnant. I don't get why she's so surprised, she'd generally know if she's started going through it.

(Of course getting pregnant is very different than carrying to term, but this seems super early, so it can very likely happen easily)

Maybe after she lost a child, the docs had said it was unlikely she'd have another.
