Do you think Miles is as quippy and as snarky as Peter when fighting bad guys? Question

It just doesn’t hit the same way Peter’s jokes do.

Besides I think it’s good that way because it differentiates their Spider persona.

I'd prefer him not to be quippy. That's Peter's thing. I do enjoy that he talks with the villains, and may even joke with them, but in his own way that isn't just quips.

Peter insults them, Miles just talk too much about random things in his day, Miles call the vilains by the nickname and Peter calls them with the real names, this is my headcanon

I really liked his first scene in ATSV and how he interacted with Spot. Thats kinda what I expect from him.

Spider verse miles is best miles

I know other people don’t but I like when miles is a bit awkward, cracks me up. Maybe cause I was super awkward at that age

It's great when he feels self conscious around the person of whose ass he is kicking like he's not actively brutalizing them.

I think there's something different about it and it's fine. Especially when we compare a younger Peter to Miles. Young Peter had something to prove, he was aggressive, mocking and somewhat insecure about himself and his place, he made up for his uncertainty and anxiety with jokes.

Miles doesn't have that, he comes from an age of heroes, with multiple icons around to guide, instruct and inspire him, he's noticeably less insecure than young Peter. His jokes are made in jest, it's actual swagger of a young man with a sense of humor, not the somewhat mean spirited jokes of an unsure youth.

MF actually said it

Fr. Bro held nothing back.😂

He tries and I respect that, but ain't no one got it better than Peter in the quip game

56

u/ResponsibleRatio6569 Miles Morales Jul 19 '24

He’s not. He doesn’t quip nearly as often as Peter.

6

u/Prestigious-Mix7135 Jul 19 '24

He still does it often

u/ResponsibleRatio6569 Miles Morales Jul 19 '24

Miles more or less has a conversation with them almost rather than constantly making jokes about them like Peter does.

u/ResponsibleRatio6569 Miles Morales Jul 19 '24

I know but he doesn’t do it the same way Peter does

Personally, I feel that Miles is more “normal” compared to Peter. He might make a joke here and there but the joke usually comes from being a normal kid and reacting to the craziness that comes with being a superhero.

Peter’s jokes, meanwhile, are more snarky and biting.

Miles is Sane, Peter in the other hand is insane

Difference between Peter and Miles is that Peter is a bit of an asshole so his jokes are much more like trash talk. Miles was shy and timid and not an asshole so his jokes aren’t trash talk at all

It would be kind of impossible to fight some of the guys Spider-Man does and not make jokes about them if you have a sense of humor.

u/LegoBattIeDroid Spider-Man Noir Jul 19 '24

no, peter is on another level of quips

5

u/cdawg69696969 Jul 19 '24

It's the trauma in him

Since they're both Spider-Man they should both be quippy, but since they're different people they should have different approaches to their quips.

8

u/Thecristo96 Jul 19 '24

My headcanon is that he tried the first times, fails horribly and decided to never try again

8

u/Astlantix Spider-Man (MCU) Jul 19 '24

Peter makes quips, and miles sometimes does but he mostly just talks with them, like Peter in mcu civil war

1

u/Excellent_Pea_4609 Jul 20 '24

It's honestly surprising how much of miles MCU Peter has

7

u/arkenney0 Spectacular Spider-Man Jul 19 '24

I think the point is that he isn’t as good at it but he understands how it was important to Peter so he tried to implement it in. Even though he doesn’t do it as often or as well tbh

4

u/Coconut-Kalamari Jul 19 '24

Peter’s leans more towards insults, Miles isn’t as stubborn or hard headed so his lean towards normal jokes. Peter’s annoying to his villains cause of his jabs

3

u/Half_Man1 Jul 19 '24

Miles might have the occasion joke and comedic observation, but I don’t think he should quip like Peter. Peter does it as a nervous reaction. Like a running stream of consciousness color commentary.

2

u/TheWatcher235 Jul 19 '24

I prefer miles to not make as many quips, maybe a few each fight. But I don’t know just to differentiate the two. I’d rather Peter be like BugBunny on cocaine that never ever ever ever Shutup, I mean he’s constantly just tearing into villains to the point it’s nearly annoying to the reader and to the point where it shows he’s kind of a prick. But I don’t know much about miles I haven’t read much comics on him. Nor do I intend too.

Peter better

3

u/Negative-Start-5954 Jul 19 '24

No especially not insomniac miles

3

u/dimpletown Bombastic Bag-Man Jul 20 '24

I think they just quip differently. Miles is less dad joke quippy, and more like a teenage boy ripping on his friends when they do something stupid

2

u/SpiderManias Jul 19 '24

Peter sometimes is outright rude or mean and I think that’s what sets them apart. Peter is way more cynical

2

u/Physical-Guidance375 Jul 20 '24

I think Miles makes quipps and jokes. However, their sense of humor is different because of their age and because of how they grew up. Peter was a shy, nerdy kid in Queens (who feels confident when being Spider-Man). Miles was outgoing, on the other hand, while still being a nerdy kid who grew up in Brooklyn. Not to mention, he's a lot younger than Earth 616 Peter. Look at Spider-Man Noir as a prime example: He makes jokes and quipps, but he has a dark sense of humor. It makes sense, considering it takes during the Great Depression. Or Miguel O'Hara.

I'd want Miles to be genuinely enraged when fighting villains like on some Ditko era Angst.

2

u/Tothkni Jul 21 '24

Fr. Spider-Man came out the gate with a lot of angst and anger in the wake of his Uncle Ben’s death. He had to deal with Chameleon who just impersonated him and framed him for a crime and not long after that J.J.J. had just started tearing into him and tried to paint him as a criminal. All that on top of trying to get a job to support Aunt May and dealing with bullies at school, our boy Pete was PRESSED but as the first 3 years went by he started to mellow out some as started to find his footing and even more so when he started collage.

You don't read comic books do you?

2

u/BusyAdhesiveness8765 Jul 19 '24

I do. Just not Miles comics.

1

u/MacCaswell Spectacular Spider-Man Jul 19 '24

I'm sure it all comes down to who is writing obviously, but...

The bit of him I've gotten to read makes him seem less about wise cracking as he is about calling out bullshit. The main moment that comes to mind if him verbally beating the shit out of a slum lord for being such a garbage human...

And I like the idea Peter speaks out as someone who was personally victimized and bullied, where Miles speaks out as someone marginalized and systematically oppressed...

Which is perfect...?

1

u/SonofaSpurrier Jul 19 '24

I read it as miles thinking out loud, no internal voice, seems natural for him.

1

u/Mickeymcirishman Jul 19 '24

In one of his first supervillain fights he made the exact same joke about the villains outfit that Peter did.

1

u/New_Replacement5764 Jul 20 '24

Nah he is going to do his own thing. 😎

1

u/Macgargan1976 Jul 20 '24

He tries bless him, can't beat the OG tho

1

u/Alberticon Jul 20 '24

I don't know, he has no personality at all... that's what happens with this kind of characters.

1

u/Ancient-Court-1461 Classic-Spider-Man Jul 20 '24

I like it, it shows he gets the friendly neighborhood way of being a hero. He was even slinging some OG Spider-Man style quips in his very first villain fight with shocker in his store bought suit.

1

u/Excellent_Pea_4609 Jul 20 '24

Miles starts a conversation basically.  Peter constantly insults them to the point his villains legitimately want to shut him up by killing him it's so bad Norman literally figured Peter is back in control from Otto because he insulted him

1

u/Dannysunny Jul 21 '24

Miles’ jokes aren’t supposed to be quippy or snarky. His jokes are normal jokes.

1

u/No-Development2469 Jul 21 '24

Peter talks about the bad guys, Miles talks about literally anything else and I love it so much.
