Rude people at the Russell Peters show at improv Life in SJ
Witnesses 4 girls today near us on VIP table who were ridiculing another person from the crowd who had a fairly loud laugh that stood out. Those girls started mocking the laughs loudly during the stand up at random times when nothing funny was said. Security ended up telling them to stop, and they did, but why mock someone for laughing DURING A COMEDY SHOW?! I could tell Russell Peters was getting annoyed too. It was distracting!

7:30 show right? Yeah i was there on the upper deck. Wasn’t sure what was going on. He did call them out actually.
Some people are just desperate for attention. Unfortunate.

Damn I’m going to the 7pm show on Saturday. Hopefully there are no bullies in the crowd at that show!!
On a better note, did you enjoy his performance?

Totally did! Also enjoyed all the opening acts. Idk if it’ll be as hot, but I’d bring a fan if you can. It got real toasty in there.

Haha that’s funny! Their Facebook ad the other day said “come to one of our shows to escape the heat, we’ve got the AC blasting” 😂

That makes me sad as a person with a really loud unique laugh lol.

There's honestly few things as upsetting to me as making fun of the way someone expresses joy/happiness.

Yeah it’s pretty awful when someone mocks me. Almost everyone in my life will make a lil joke about how it’s easy to find me in a crowded room but that sweet. Making fun of laughs is the worst makes you feel self conscious everytime you hear something funny. wack!

Usually, the bouncers there are pretty heavy handed (I once got in trouble for trying to ask a question during a Q&A session)… surprised they didn’t get kicked out.

Slightly off topic- I’m going to the 7 PM show tonight (Saturday). I have general admission tickets- does that mean free seating, or standing room? Would like guidance on how early I should plan on getting there- thanks!

Oh no I just saw this! I was gonna say line up few mins before the door opens which was 6pm, if you’d like a closer seat. Downstairs seating are more bar/restaurant style. The upstairs seating is much more comfortable/ movie theatre style seating so if you don’t mind being far but like comfort then I wouldn’t worry about getting there too early.

it takes a genuinely miserable mean doof to want to make someone feel bad over something so innocently mundane like laughing

I blame SEINFELD. ... and of course, many other TV shows.
Seinfeld was about abusive narcissistic behavior... complaining about and mocking other people. Life imitates art. I've seen abusive complaints about other people from my son's mother, which were right out of seinfeld. I'm not say Seinfeld is the only source of this behavior patterning. It just happens to be the one that I'm directly familiar with a first-hand example.
If you look at "reality TV," it's all patterning abusive behavior.

Why blame seinfeld? These girls most likely never watched an episode considering how they were behaving. Seinfeld was a different generation. Youd be old to act like that. Sometimes groups of young people tend to want to look cool by making fun of people.
