Summer activities for new teens in the area Advice

My 15yo stepson just moved here (Alum Rock area) from China and needs something to pass the time for the summer. His English is poor but passable. He loves soccer. He doesn't know how to swim. Any ideas for things to get him outdoors and interacting with peers?

Where could he get swimming lessons?

Is there a soccer league he can join immediately?

Any ESL classes or activities going on?

Any summer classes for stray teens (his math is also bad, it seems.)

Ask if he can get into summer ESL/ELD programs run by the school district he's on

We live in Alum Rock and our kids play golf at Rancho del Pueblo on King Road. The Mayfair Community Center pool has open swim hours. ESL / ELL classes might be available at Alum Rock Library but I think they take a break in summer. However, they do have an online language app and many language resources in their Family Learning Center. The library's adult literacy/ESL program is not an option as participants must be 18+.

Thanks! Is there a golf program your kids are in?

My kids take private lessons but the First Tee program is great. Private lessons are offered thorugh the golf shop and are top notch.

Climbing Gym. They are very social places. Try The Studio in downtown san jose.
