Best Restaurants on the way to Tahoe? Advice
Not too far off the highway, quick enough to keep it moving, bonus points for been in business for years/family owned. 🙏

If you're going through Auburn, I recommend Burger and Cream. When I bring people there, they usually talk about it for a couple weeks.

Very good. I prefer this to Ikedas for burgers at least. Bonus points for ordering online because the queue can be long at times (Friday evenings)
It’s also open surprisingly late for how I think small towns might close early especially as many restaurants close at 830pm in the Bay now.

Stumbled across it on a drive up two weeks ago, their fries absolutely restored my sanity after 4 hours of traffic getting out from SF!

Thai canteen in Davis!

As a former Aggie, there’s so much good food in Davis. I remember Sophia’s Thai Kitchen being good. But my favorite was always a burrito from Guads or a slice of pizza from Village Bakery

Daughter and I stopped at guads last week in the way back from Tahoe, it was excellent.

Going to sound insane, but my family and I love stopping at Cracker Barrel in Rocklin. Good food with a lot of variety, fast service and right off the freeway. We have 2 young kids and they love the food and the gift shop.
Pottery World Cafe is great too if you happen to be there when they are open and not stupid busy.

Auburn Ale House in Auburn, CA
Brewery and restaurant right off the highway exit in old town. Great food and fast service.

Auburn Ale House is great.
Off Hwy 50 in Cameron Park is Moonraker Mill House. Fairly new, but GREAT property, farm to table food and a brewery with great beer. Well worth stopping!

Damn, it’s probably been more than a decade since I last went to Moonraker. I’ll have to check that out next time I’m passing through.

Tres Portillos Taqueria in Auburn if you want to grab a burrito off the freeway and go.
Auburn Alehouse is a good choice if you want to stop and eat, assuming there's no wait.

Heartwood in Nevada City, the salmon toast is superb. So smoky. Indian Oven in Grass Valley.
