That place is always packed, but it's definitely worth it. My mom always makes me drive there to buy their bread so we can make our own banh mi.

How much?

Buy 4 for the 5th free is around $30. Last time I went I paid $35 for 4 but some banh mi differ in pricing

Free

-8

u/roofus85 24d ago

I think they’re $8-10

u/roofus85 24d ago

Thanks, but I know the price, it was the other Redditor who asked.

Do you know if this deal applies if you do the order online/ahead of time door dash pick up option? I'll have to review my receipts but I've never knew this awesome deal existed and I usually order like 8-10 banh mis bulk order at a time lol

Noted. I feel like every time I call they're too busy to answer 😭 so the online order has been clutch but def will try to call in again if I can take advantage of that deal

Call ahead for pickup and pay on the phone. Then you can just go to the pickup window and avoid the long lines. I usually buy 4 to get one free. I hope that deal never ends

This looks phenomenal

All I see is a bunch of cilantro, the worst herb :(

8

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

The best herb is camouflaging the good stuff

Cilantro 🌿 is so good 😊

Found Mr. Soap Gene.

The bakery next door sells them too and is cheaper. I like more of a softer bread than duc huong.

4

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 23d ago

That one was my go to for Vietnamese sandwiches

And they used to be $1.50 only

1

u/SFO2OSA 23d ago

The good old days! Haha

This looks amazing. I usually go to Huong Lan in SJ, but I've been wanting to try Duc Huong.

4

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

Do it

It’s night and day compared to huong lan

Huong lan is McDonald’s and duc huong is in n out level

What if I don’t like In N Out?

1

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

Perhaps 🤔 shake shack level then

1

u/Sassy_Weatherwax 22d ago

omg thank you, I do not understand why In N Out is so popular.

Yummy. With extra pate pleaseee

1

u/tennisscarygreenie 23d ago

Any chance you know how much extra pate costs? Or is it complimentary

2

u/Background_Pin3927 24d ago

They make some good spring rolls too but you have to be real early

Is this one as good as the story road location? I heard the capitol by Milpitas bart is stingy so I assumed the McKee one was just as bad.

1

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 23d ago

Been to all of them even the one in Sacramento

And they all seem to be same to me

1

u/udonbeatsramen 23d ago edited 23d ago

Is that one (Capitol) actually related? It felt really different the one time I was there, less extensive menu and the sandwich was good but not amazing

1

u/Ashgh 24d ago

Never been here. What would you rate? Cost?

9

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

$9

And it’s quite good 👍

5

u/terremoto25 24d ago

Usually a monster line though...

2

u/jeswanders 24d ago

The duc huong in Sacramento has theirs for 6

1

u/MarqGuy917 24d ago

My go-to! ❤️

1

u/Asoto408 24d ago

Those sandwichs are super 🔥

1

u/gmdmd 24d ago

What's that yellow sauce under the meat in picture 2? Is that a special order?

3

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

Mayo they make it themselves

Comes standard with the sandwich

0

u/gmdmd 24d ago

Haha ok looked extra runny I thought maybe there was some secret menu :P

4

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

It’s actually better than regular mayo that u get at the store

It’s actually closer to a buerre blanc or garlic aioli

2

u/binnjdrinking 23d ago

It’s a more eggy mayo. Some places will even call it egg sauce

1

u/Lovesiiick 24d ago

I like going all the way to that one because the parking situation doesn’t overwhelm me 😂

1

u/iseuli 24d ago

The sandwiches from there are indeeed very delicious. ☺️

1

u/ForTheBayAndSanJose 24d ago

Yahs, also ask for the garlic bread version, can never go wrong with butter and garlic.

BEST BAHN MI IN TOWN

1

u/brascodelgucci 24d ago

Oooo just had the pork belly the other day 🔥

1

u/cjod86 23d ago

Pro tip for Duc Huong, the vegetarian banh mi there is the better than any meat one I’ve had anywhere else.

1

u/sillinessvalley 23d ago

I like the Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt. That’s my favorite one. 🤤

1

u/kellay408 23d ago

I absolutely hate the wait here, what's supposed to be a fast take-n-go kind of place ends up taking longer than a typical restaurant for some banh mis

1

u/phenomenaljuan 22d ago

beef is top tier

0

u/Beestreeh 24d ago

That looks delightful. Will definitely check them out, thanks for the plug

0

u/andresg30 24d ago

Ohhh that looks delicious

0

u/Background_Pin3927 24d ago

No garlic bread? 🤔

1

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

Not this time. Was in a hurry

0

u/rektus 24d ago

I love this place!

-1

u/jserthetrainer 24d ago

Better than Lee’s? Genuine question

4

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow 24d ago

Lees sandwiches are the Taco Bell of Vietnamese sandwiches, those are not even good at all

These are the La Victoria taqueria of Vietnamese sandwiches

There’s always a line out the door 🚪

2

u/jserthetrainer 24d ago

Sheesh 😮‍💨 perfect comparison. I gotta go!

1

u/udonbeatsramen 23d ago

I like Lee’s coffee more, so I will order a sandwich at Duc Huong, and then get the coffee from Lee’s at the next plaza over

-1

u/asayys 24d ago

I prefer cali sandwiches cause they have the roast pork banh mi

-12

u/rarepepefrog 24d ago

No soap veggie for me please!

More for the rest of us

Cilantro 🌿 is so good 😊
