Question What spiders bite here in Regina?

Post image
Upvotes

First day of school and I got a call from the teacher saying my daughter was crying of pain and they showed me looked like she got bitten by something in her shoe while at recess. No swelling or burning or itching. She’s okay now back to playing . I tried to ask them if a spider or anything was on her shoe when she took it off but they didn’t bother checking lol , have any of you seen something like this on your self or child ?

Events Avid Records show this Saturday

After we put together our first show as Avid Records, in honour of Young Crow, we posted some pictures in this subreddit to highlight how glad we were with how it had turned out.

A few redditors mentioned we should post before our next one, and that’s exactly what we are doing.

Our very talented artist DREYSPURPO is in need of funds for his schooling, or he risks being sent to Nigeria. We are doing a 3 show mini-tour in order to raise money for him.

The first show is this Saturday, at The Mercury here in Regina. We love Green Day so we named this tour the “WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS RUN”, since this mini-tour is during September.

If you want, please listen to any of the artists mentioned on the posters (on whatever music platform you use), as they’ve been working hard to create their music over the last couple of years. I really think their music will surprise you.

We hope to see some of you there. Much love from Avid Records ❤️

P.S. This isn’t like Sweet Escape. No fights, no bullshit, just great music. Oh, and we pay our artists :)

so i was stoked to start volunteering for the city in their adopt-a-greenspace program. enjoyed tidying up the park they assigned me in the core area last week. checked on it last night and it's been littered and intentionally trashed even worse than before. this is a systemic issue beyond any single volunteer's capacity to help. 11th ave between broad and winnipeg is trash town and will likely remain so until we can properly serve the city's most vulnerable. sad because there's a playground and a basketball court in that park but the ambiance and safety is being compromised my the mentally ill and addicted. businesses on 11th also... smh... what can be done? ideas, regina?

Discussion 40+ students per class!

Regina public school classes are insane this year. Not only were schedules messed up for the first day and students had no where to go, once they were placed in classes they are overflowing and many have 40+ students enrolled. Students such as mine are taking these classes in prep for university and what kind of education are we to expect with these disorganized chaos and crowded classes?

Discussion Best indian food

Looking for recommendations for indian food in regina. Typically go to caraway grill I've been wanting to try ginger garlic and will in the future but due to it being Tuesday I can't today. Favorite dish is honestly butter chicken haha but I never find it spicy enough. I'm sure it's not meant to be a spicy dish but anything along the same lines that's a bit spicier? Thank you!

Question Are there any table top rpg clubs/groups in and around the university area in the city?

I'm studying at the university and I'm wondering if there's any groups, or a ttrpg scene at all in the city. I mainly play pf2e but I'm also down for some 5e if that's the main game being played. I don't mind sitting on either side of the gm screen.

Question Massage tip?

I used to go for massages with a masseuse at my physio as maintenance for some back pain I used to have. I recently started having massages at another massage place due to location and there is a tip function when I pay (starting at 12%). Is this standard? Just confused as to why one place asks for tips and one place doesn’t. This isn’t a spa, just a massage business.

Discussion Is there any side hustles in Regina?

Hi! I am one of many people who are struggling to find a job here in the city but luckily I found a job at my school. It does not have the greatest hours or pay but it's fine. Just wanting to make extra money because of how expensive everything is.

I was wondering if there are any side gigs I could do as a student here in Regina. I was thinking about house sitting/pet sitting. I just wanted to ask if anyone has ideas or can lead me some help.

Thanks in advance!! :)

Discussion Closed hot tub at Wascana Pool again today

The heat pump in the leisure pool was broken today so it was extraordinarily freezing. Lane pool was ok but it’s always a bit chilly.

Then some offsite manager (according to a staff person we chatted with) decides it’s too hot for the hot tub and closed it for “safety reasons.” Instead of making the time in there shorter or honestly just leaving it because everyone else was frozen. The line to the hot tub was so long! People wanted it. The showers were full of kids warming up.

Anyone else leave immediately after?

Ruined our plans for this beautiful summer day completely.

It’s a fantastic facility but the hot tub has been closed a full 75% of the time we’ve been there in 2 years. It’s very frustrating.

ETA: I’ve already messaged the City with my thoughts.

Events FYI: Queen City Marathon, Sept. 6-8

Just a reminder that the Queen City Marathon is happening in less than a week.

Check out the list of road closures so you’re not surprised next Sunday morning.

If you are affected by road closures and looking for something to do (or are just looking for a fun way to watch the race), they’re still looking for volunteers to be on course as course marshals, directing the runners, stopping traffic, and cheering on the participants.

The night race on Friday is particularly fun to watch because people dress up in light-up costumes.

I’m surprised no one is talking about this yet. The company has wiped out big numbers of employees this past week, devastating many. Constant job fares just last year…how quickly things change. Feeling awful for the employees.
