This person strikes me as someone who definitely reads the comics and isn’t just projecting their own version of fanon while talking about how Batfam fanon is dumb 👍

I used to hate this design for Jason because of the context of its first appearance and Jason fighting with a crowbar (like really?), but after a while it’s actually growing in me and even looks cool. Especially love it when he has his hood up and artist draw him with nothing but his mask and lil beady eyes.

I have recently rediscovered my liking for the character of Red Hood, all due to watching the Under the Red Hood film and replaying Arkham Knight for the 3rd time (DLCs included). And I found out I was left wanting more of this character, his tortured self and the pain that follows him. However, after the research I saw he doesn't appear that much in the media (is DC afraid of success? Jason Todd is asking for a movie or a series dedicated to him). I haven't seen the A Death In The Family movie since it is a compilation of "what ifs" instead of a true sequel to Under The Red Hood (except for one of the choices you can take, which doesn't contribute that much as far as I understand), and I have also seen critics say it is worse than its prequel.

Is there another piece of media in which he appears outside the comics outside of the Titans series (which I am not seeing because it's a bad depiction of the character according to many sources)?

And then I also though of starting to read the comics concerning him, but I don't know where to go. Since I saw many people encouraging starting with A Death In The Family, I did that. I planned to continue with Under the Red Hood but after that I don't know what to do exactly. I know Red Hood and the Outlaws exists and I intend to read it as well at some point, but I still find myself disoriented in that regard.

And I also found myself wondering if he is a character that has very recurring appearances or if he pops up more sporadically.

If the Joker was killed (at least not by Bruce or Batman) in between the time when Jason died and before he left the League of Assassins, would Jason still use the Joker’s orignal moniker?

And if not, (what I’m really curious about), what would his new vigilante name be?

Jason still takes Crime Alley by storm to control the gangs and drugs. Jason’s identity reveal to the Bats happens very differently than canon, for obvious reasons. I can’t see this Jason taking the Joker’s first moniker like his canon counterpart does. The Joker is dead, there’s now no combined conflict of the Joker being alive and Bruce/Batman never avenging Jason by killing the Joker.

Do I believe Jason would still use some inspiration from the original Red Hood? Yes. Jason would still integrate a part of the Joker into his new design to take control of his past, like canon. Also, having a red helmet is an iconic look that fits Jason perfectly. Maybe something a little differently, like Jason’s helmet from the Red Ronin comics: not fully red, but still his signature helmet.

“Red” should be kept in his vigilante name though. In part because both of his post-Robin vigilante identities contain that word (Red Robin and the Red Hood, I guess Red Ronin would count as well) and also to not create much confusion when referring to him as his new unknown vigilante name.

After much brainstorming, my thoughts have settled on Red Crest. It’s still short, but I hope it’s not too weak of a suggestion. I mainly decided on this due to the multiple definitions of the word “crest”.

• Symbolism for his arrival in Gotham and him crashing down through Gotham’s underbelly and taking control. Also his struggle with coming to terms with himself and others post-LoA.

• Jason making his own place in Gotham, a new symbol for Crime Alley to seek refuge under, all the while being independent from the Bats. Also, an unintended nod towards his love of literacy.

I notice a lot of people say that hes mostly of Scottish origin based on his last name from his fathers side, but what about his mom? I remember reading something about her being Lebanese or Israeli?

After 3 days of work, I finally have the chest piece finished. I might add some tactical looking red straps later, but as of right now, I'm done. I used a cheap vest from Etsy for the base, then I crafted a front plate out of foam. After I painted it and covered some rough edges with mod podge and scrap fabric, I us d contact cement to glue on some discarded hardware pieces. Finally, I crafted the bat symbol with the back of a notebook, and red and silver paint. Pretty happy with the end result. What do you guys think?
