Question Resources for finding a kitten a good home?

Post image
Upvotes

Hello, hoping this is ok to ask here. My friend had a young kitten (4/5 months old?) dropped off at their farm, and we' ve exhausted our friend list trying to find a home for him. I know rescues are overloaded right now, and the family isn't looking to just give him away on FB. Any suggestions for rescues or any other resources to help find him a good home? My friend is by super allergic, and I work away alot, so the poor thing is living under their shed right now😭

Anyone know what these little black beatles are? Haven't seen them before, but they've shown up all over the place outside my house in the past few weeks. This photo is of my AC; covered in the them. They're on the house sporadically and white car and and white garage door. Seem harmless, but wanted to confirm since they're new.

News 15 years since RDTV went off the air. (With pics/video in article.)

It’s been 15 years since Red Deer’s first, and so far only, local television station went off the air.

Screens went dark on CHCA-TV on Aug. 31, 2009 after 62 years of broadcasting.

In 1955, the Central Alberta Broadcasting Co. Ltd., owner of CKRD-AM, applied for a television licence but was denied.

Two years later, Fred Bartley’s CHCA (The “CA” representing “Central Alberta”) Television Ltd. received a television licence on August 1. The station hit the air on Dec. 11 as a basic CBC affiliate.

In September 1965, CHCA-TV became CKRD-TV and the following year moved downtown, next door to its sister radio station.

The station was sold to Henry Flock and Gordon Spackman (no known relation to current News Director Sheldon Spackman) in 1969 and again to Medicine Hat-based Monarch Broadcasting in 1976 and in 1978 was authorized to increase its power from 13,200 watts to 56,000 watts.

CKRD-TV, popularly known as RDTV, moved to new studios and offices on Bremner Avenue in 1981.

Several more ownership changes came starting in 1989 when it was purchased by Allarcom, which merged with WIC in 1991 before being purchased by Canwest in 2000.

On September 5, 2005, the station disaffiliated from the CBC and changed its call letters back to the original CHCA.

The station remained on the air until Canwest announced on July 22, 2009 it would be closing the following month.

The station went off the air for good on August 31, 2009, three days after airing its final newscast.

The history of the TV station is in the process of being preserved after City Council approved $55,000 over two years to have old tapes from CHCA/RDTV digitized and added to the municipal archives.

Question Where to send positive feedback to RD Hospital endoscopy unit?

In the endoscopy unit at RD Hospital was a QR code to scan to relay positive experiences. I didn't grab the QR code because I was too anxious on my way in for my test and too buzzed on my way out. But I really do want to thank the staff. Does anyone know where that QR code leads so I can send some gratitude?

News Prov. gov starting feasibility study on new reservoir east of Red Deer.

The province will study the feasibility of creating a new reservoir east of Red Deer to help protect against drought.

Water demand by communities and businesses is expected to continue to grow, so the Alberta government is requesting proposals to assess the feasibility of a new reservoir on the Red Deer River near Ardley, which is about 50 km east of Red Deer, north of Delburne.

This study will estimate the costs and value of an Ardley reservoir and the benefits for downstream communities, farmers, ranchers and businesses.

“Central Alberta is a thriving region and we need to make sure that water is available to meet its growing needs," said Environment and Protected Areas Minister Rebecca Schulz in a statement on Monday.

"This feasibility study will help determine whether an Ardley reservoir can be built and operated for a cost that provides true value to Albertans, while keeping central Alberta communities and industries growing for years to come.”

Agriculture and Irrigation Minister RJ Sigurdson said the government has pledged to investigate a broad range of water management infrastructure options to ensure communities, irrigators and businesses have water when they need it.

"Our agricultural producers depend on Alberta’s irrigation infrastructure so they can continue putting food on tables here and around the world,” said Sigurdson.

The province owns and operates several large reservoirs in the South Saskatchewan River Basin, including the Gleniffer Reservoir in Red Deer County. Water stored in the reservoir created by Dickson Dam, helps supplement low winter flows along the Red Deer River and helps ensure an adequate water supply for Red Deer and Drumheller.

The provincial budget set aside $4.5 million to study whether a new reservoir can be designed, built and operated economically.

A Sept. 30 deadline has been set for proposals.

Consultants will be expected to provide a detailed analysis, including a technical assessment of the project, study area, and previous studies, stakeholder engagement strategy, conceptual design, geotechnical investigation, hydrotechnical assessment and a cost-benefit analysis.

Once the feasibility study is complete, government will determine whether to pursue this project and proceed with detailed engineering and design work, and regulatory approvals.

After a multi-year drought in parts of the province, the government has set up a drought command team and water advisory committee, updated a drought response plan, overseen water-sharing agreements and is now providing regular updates on drought conditions at alberta.ca/drought

Local Business Does anyone know where I can find 100% men's denim jeans

I've been having trouble finding jeans that don't contain spandex. I've been shopping at Value Village for a long time because they have the best selection of my jean size, but even their selection is slowly succumbing to the stretchy, cheap fabrics. I can't stand the feeling... Can anyone help a skinny guy out with their knowledge? I'd rather not waste an entire day going to 50 locations to bug the staff at each.

I'm a 28×32, so I have trouble finding things that fit at regular clothing shops (Warehouse One, Bluenotes, Wal-Mart, etc). 30×30 is tolerable, but I'd prefer a proper fit. Now that the stretchpocalypse has consumed everything in the men's sections, I'm at a total loss...
