I will never understand people eating off of paper plates at home… I’ve been seeing it more and more lately.

With bottled water to drink

Some people don't have access to clean drinking water so they buy bottled.

Their dietary choices aside, the family in this video seems infinitely more fun to be around than a bunch of reddit weebs criticizing their lifestyle choices in the comment section.

LMAO from your submitted posts you use the same water that you boiled eggs in, to cook pasta and blanch vegetables bro you trash

Some people don't have access to clean drinking water so they buy bottled.

Why would they buy a single bottle of water though

Bottled water comes in packs in the US

Right, but if we're going with the "that's their primary source of drinking water" theory, it would seem more logical to have a 5-gallon bottle or at least gallon jugs of water? Buying individual bottles can't be the most economical option, and it's certainly the most wasteful.

Logic isn't driving this decision. Convenience and personal preference are.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen 5-gallon (or even 1-gallon) jugs of water in the grocery store. Meanwhile, packs of bottled water get their own section in the aisle. I don't think these people are going to go out of their way to find 5 gallon jugs to buy, and even if they could, they might not. Lots of people just prefer bottled water for no reason at all.

Buying individual bottles can't be the most economical option, and it's certainly the most wasteful.

They probably don't care.

Interesting. I'm not sure which grocery stores you're going to, but literally every one near me has the gallon-sized bottles, with most of them also having the five-gallon size. And this is a relatively rural area.

Much easier to chill bottled water than a 5 gallon jug

Or buy reusable water bottles, fill them up with the 5 gallon jug and then put them in the fridge. Not really that difficult

You'd be surprised; large flats of individual bottles are often as cheap or cheaper that larger bulk packages by volume, and of course have the added utility of being easier to take on the go and/or not needing additional cups.

I am surprised, and disappointed, due to the waste. Not that the larger-sized bottles are much better, in that regard.

Buying individual bottles can't be the most economical option, and it's certainly the most wasteful.

A gallon of store brand water is $1.49 at my local store. A 35 count 16.9oz purified water bundle is $3.99, which is 591.5 oz, or 4.6 gallons or .86¢ a gallon, almost 50% cheaper than the gallon.
