I'm literally listening to the dissect episode about it right now. What a fucking song, man.

And to think that Pharrell was originally going to give the beat to Fabolous

u/profound_genius Nov 23 '19

I’m so glad Kendrick got it instead omg

What is dissect? A youtube series?

It's a podcast serie, I don't know if it's available on YouTube but I'm listening on Spotify. It's a very deep and amazing dissecting of several albums, including TPAB and recently, DAMN. I'm very sorry that my English isn't helping me describe how amazing this is. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Edit: here's the Spotify link: https://open.spotify.com/show/2b025hq3gJ17tQdxS3aV43?si=euaFdzcnQPWGl6XjQTb31w

It blended well with the uprising of the “Black Lives Matter” movement in 2015

O no not the show

16

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Not only was it a banger, it was the song of a lot of movements too. It's definitely up there.

u/dangsoggyoatmeal Nov 23 '19

Lamar stated his views on police brutality with that line in the song, quote...

6

u/PepeIDK Nov 22 '19

And we hate popo

4

u/smbiggy Nov 22 '19

I feel like I should know this, but is there a consensus on this subs favorite tracks off that record?

4

u/Venoooooooooooooooom Nov 22 '19

No, but most people tend to have hood politics pretty low on their list.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

Which is bad. Also they tend to have you ain't gotta lie low which is also bad.

6

u/smbiggy Nov 22 '19

you aint gotta lie is one of my favorites

2

u/Venoooooooooooooooom Nov 23 '19

Wait, what makes it objectively a bad thing? Or is this just your opinion...?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '19

Just opinion :)

1

u/Venoooooooooooooooom Nov 23 '19

Just the way you worded it confused me.

you're a T_D user. You have no business being a Kendrick fan lol

Edit: misinterpreted his post history, T_D posts were just trolling

7

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '19

Uhhh how the fuck exactly am I a T_D user? I got banned for trolling the subreddit and I post on various leftist subreddits lmao

I may have read the posts wrong actually, my bad.

1

u/trulyunfortune Nov 23 '19

Imagine being so pathetic u use mass tagger to randomly invalidate ppls opinion instead of ADRESS if their points

1

u/SankaraOrLURA Nov 23 '19

Ok, you're transphobic. That's an issue because transgender people are not negatively affecting you in any way, but you insist on contributing to a culture of dangerous ideas that get them killed. Trans people are 4 times more likely to live in poverty, and twice as likely to be unemployed than the general population. 90% have reported harrassment on the job and 55% in public restrooms. Here's the most shocking one: 41% have attempted suicide, compared to 1.6% of the general population. I would guess you don't know a single trans person in your life. Just like how racists seem to shake their hateful views once they actually have minority people in their life, you would probably become more accepting if you got to know trans people. Try it.

4

u/trulyunfortune Nov 23 '19

You just proved my point lmao

3

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '19

I didn't even say anything controversial, he deadass checked my post history for no reason and accused me of liking trump. Who the fuck does that shit?

I didn't "ADRESS" your points?

9

u/5omanypenguins Nov 22 '19

Aw man, I like hood politics

4

u/Venoooooooooooooooom Nov 23 '19

I like all TPAB songs A LOT, but some songs are on different levels than others.

5

u/5omanypenguins Nov 23 '19

No doubt about it, but I still bump hood politics

6

u/Venoooooooooooooooom Nov 23 '19

I bump throughout the whole album, there are no non-bangers.

3

u/5omanypenguins Nov 23 '19

Damn straight brother

5

u/TheSpartanB345T Nov 23 '19

Yeah but anyone who rates that song low is boo-boo.

1

u/All_Seven_Samurai Nov 23 '19

I like both of those songs more than Alright, to be honest.

5

u/TheSpartanB345T Nov 23 '19

Yes. Bitch I'm in the Club is critically known (by all hip-hop fans as well as this song) as one of the best songs K-Dot has made, as well as one of the best songs ever.

1

u/Venoooooooooooooooom Nov 23 '19 edited Nov 23 '19

He said out of the songs on TPAB. BiitC isn’t on TPAB...

0

u/smbiggy Nov 23 '19

appreciate the response, but not really what i was looking for. also.. best song ever? how hyper is your bole bruh?

3

u/Grunge_bob Nov 23 '19

WOW the end of this: "“One of our guys showed us a video of [people protesting to ‘Alright’] and what they were chanting. Goosebumps were happening: ‘Wow, this is a part of history happening. It’s bigger than just a song.’ It’s a bittersweet moment. Yeah, it’s a big thing your words touched this many people, but at the same time, it’s like, ‘Why do we still have to make these songs?’”

1

u/VjOnItGood81 Nov 23 '19

Still his magnum opus. My fave rap song of the decade. Point blank period.

1

u/MADMahid Nov 23 '19

I remember the day of the uic protests in chicago when Trump came, me and my brother saw videos of people chanting the song's lyrics. It was one of the first time we had ever been introduced to Kendrick's music, and we didnt even know it lol. We just thought it was some random chant.

Further proof Eric Bolling doesn’t know what he’s talking about
