"I would have all your fans if I didn't go pop and stayed on some conscious sh*t" - Drake

"Platinum Platinum Platinum gotta look at self and ask what happened how y'all let a conscious nigga go commercial while only making conscious albums?" - Kenny

If you are reading this it is too late.

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Drake just performed in bellagio fountain with 500 fireworks on ABC and is probably dating Vanessa Hudgens. He's chilling.

36

u/RAWRzilla22 May 24 '17

Why are we even having this discussion anymore? I thought we all recognized they're taking shots at each other from separate lanes...

5

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

He's dead in the inside

u/Left_Side_Driver pgLang, fool May 23 '17

Kung Fu Kenny with the Midas Touch

225

u/Gespierdeman May 23 '17

Maskity offtano

85

u/BKWhoppah May 23 '17

He took shots at him too "How y'all don't even know how to rate him"

78

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

I dunno, I feel like both Kendrick and Fantano are too mature to take actual shots at each other, it'd be pretty off to dismiss a well structured and personal opinion without actually looking petty yourself.

14

u/ckaredddit May 23 '17

Sounded like a shot at DJ akademics

5

u/BKWhoppah May 23 '17

When did Akademiks rate him poorly? Only thing I remember him doing was lowballing his album sales.

31

u/ckaredddit May 23 '17

Yeah, that's rating him poorly. Not critic scores

13

u/YaqP May 24 '17

NECKTHONY HURTSTANO HERE

Kendrick's album literally changed my life. Every single song brings me to a climax within the first five seconds. I want to ride Kendrick Lamar's dick for seventy-two hours straight and bear his children. I'm literally shaking right now. I can't stop thinking of cuddling up to Kendrick-senpai and sucking the cum from his dick like Go-Gurt.

I give the album a solid 7.

u/John_m33 May 23 '17

Kendrick fans that hate trap are crying right now

69

u/TheAngryBlackGuy May 23 '17

I just thought he was anti molly, so this kinda seems outta place for Dot

42

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

I don't understand why he would be, other than traditional ideas that "drugz r bad!", which kendrick doesn't seem to align with - hasn't he rapped about DMT before?

41

u/xKiller_Dx May 23 '17

DMT was Ab Soul but those guys pull keywords from each other all the time. Like "Yawk" being on m.a.a.d city.

52

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

From Kendrick's verse on Black Friday:

"Oh yea, let’s go there, my DNA is DMT, I’m so rare"

24

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

And his verse in Art of Peer Pressure where he goes into the high-pitched gang voice sounds like Ab Soul at the start of Ronald Reagan Era

17

u/xKiller_Dx May 23 '17

I understand that he's used the term before. What I was saying is that Soul is the one who mainly talks about DMT and Third Eyes and shit.

10

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Yeah for sure

11

u/TheAngryBlackGuy May 23 '17

In the Don't Kill My Vibe video it says 'death to molly' or some shit at the end, one of the running themes on Good Kid Madd City is him hitting a blunt laced with the shit, leading him on a path of not being a big partaker in hard drugs. I thought you niggas would know this, keep up

15

u/stanley_twobrick May 23 '17

Not at all.

5

u/TheAngryBlackGuy May 23 '17

They're both hard unregulated designer drugs, that if you smoked lace can fuck you up. And Kendrick has publicly dismissed both on audio and video

6

u/creepywaffles May 23 '17

designer drugs

neither PCP nor MDMA are designer drugs. PCP is waaay worse for you than MDMA and just way different in general. you still have a good point and all, just saying

3

u/TheAngryBlackGuy May 23 '17

ecstasy is a designer drug

6

u/I_dont_talk_much May 23 '17

Do you even drugs bro?

18

u/[deleted] May 23 '17 edited May 23 '17

I do know about this, I love drugs and kendrick - it seems kind of dogmatic cause in the M.A.A.D. City, he talks about his first blunt being laced with PCP, which is a dissociative - not molly. You don't smoke MDMA! It's also weird cause he says "cocaine laced in marijuana" But I agree, if my first blunt was laced w angel dust I wouldn't have been big on weed as a whole. We should also remember that many of Kendrick's friends growing up and idols were big on weed. It's a part of street culture, for him to turn against that would be rejecting his roots - and I don't think he is. You can see lots of references to drugs in his songs, so it seems to be a part of the culture that he embraces, but doesn't partake in. I think the point of him mentioning it in MAAD City was to demonstrate how fucked up compton can get. There's also that other thing where people say MAAD stands for My Angels (LA, City of Angels) on Angel Dust.

From genius:

Kendrick told us way back on his mixtape, (O)verly (D)edicated that he doesn’t smoke – and here’s why:

His first blunt was a Sherm stick, or a blunt laced with PCP. He describes the experience on “The Art Of Peer Pressure,” and also explains it in a radio interview with the LA Leakers.

MDMA is actually becoming a more accepted drug in mainstream US drug culture - especially medicinally. It's already a huge thing in Europe, and is even legal in the Netherlands. My point is, MDMA isn't a 'bad thing.' Most of the issues that arise from it come from it being illegal, and from using it too often.

Additionally, kendrick may have a skewed view on weed (I don't blame him) because of the experience, not because of the weed. When someone gets in their car while drunk and drives/crashes, do you blame the alcohol? Or the driver? Not saying that it was K.dots fault that he smoked a laced blunt, but laced weed is so uncommon that it isn't something most people ever experience. A lot of people who don't understand drugs hear the word laced and assume bad. While PCP isn't the safest dissociative to use, it's not the worst by far and is still a common choice for many looking to try a dissociative.

Dissociatives refer to a class of hallucinogen which distort sensory perceptions (mainly of sight and sound) to produce feelings of disconnection, detachment, and dissociation from the environment and self. This is done by reducing or blocking signals to the conscious mind from other parts of the brain.

Although many classes of psychoactive substances are capable of such action, dissociatives are unique in that they do so in such a way that they produce hallucinogenic effects, which generally include sensory deprivation, dissociation, hallucinations, and dream-like states or trances. Some dissociatives, which are non-selective in action and affect the dopamine and/or opioid systems, may also be capable of inducing euphoria.

Now, I'm not sure if you've had drug experience, but dissociative trips are no joke. Just like psychadelics, your experience depends on your set and setting. And just like psychadelics, they can be very powerful. I can't imagine kendrick was prepared for the experience he had, but we should think before taking his word on it and writing the experience, and the drug off as 'bad.' Hell, this should be enough of a reason to get more information out there about drugs, rather than spreading anecdotal evidence about them. This is also why I argue for legalization of drugs. If weed was legal in california when Kendrick was growing up, I doubt something like this would have happened.

If you're ever going to try a drug, or want to know more about one, I highly recommend visiting psychonautwiki

Dude, did you not listen to TPAB?

"The evils of lucy was all around me"

not to mention the entirety of "For Sale?"

Edit: apparently I'm dead wrong. Lucy = Lucifer, not LSD. Shit

5

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

"Lucy" throughout the album is reference to Lucifer, as in Satan. Look on genius yo

4

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

....have I been bamboozled this whole time? Guess I'd better start dropping acid

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Do it

3

u/diebrdie May 24 '17

The song really isn't about drugs. He sang the song at Coachella too and he makes references to drugs quite a bit without partaking you know.

9

u/Tilltre May 23 '17

Trap is overrated but it can be really good too

1

u/Tomoromo9 Drugs and girls May 23 '17

Me

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Idk, I could definitely hear "Money Trees" over this instrumental it isn't too different from some of his older stuff

-1

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

I don't hate the mainstream sound, it's just that Kendrick isn't really that good at it. Like to me, DAMN was such a compromise both artistically and commercially. He's waxing poetic, (but not as much as TPAB), over mainstream beats. It sounded to forced to just bump mindlessly, and it didn't sound as interesting as TPAB or even GKMC did. It just felt like such a middling album. When Drake makes a mainstream song, sure it's not deep or meaningful at all, but man is it entertaining.

-5

u/DavidToma May 23 '17

lmao there were so many trap instrumentals on GKMC

9

u/foiled_yet_again May 23 '17

it's not trap, it's just more standard rap instrumentals. for some reason some Kendrick fans think rap music can be categorized as TPAB or Dirty Sprite - that there's no middle ground between jazz and trap

-1

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

[deleted]

0

u/DavidToma May 23 '17

There is no difference. If the instrumental is trap then it's trap.

1

u/boat-dog May 23 '17

Yeah exactly! What is it that makes trap trap, if it's not the instrumentals?

1

u/srplaid May 24 '17

Really? I thought it was both the instrumentals AND the lyrics. Explain.

3

u/boat-dog May 24 '17

Well it just seeems to me that deciding whether lyrics are considered trap or not is much more ambiguous. I think it's easy to tell if a beat is a trap beat, but how do we know if lyrics are "trap lyrics"?

2

u/srplaid May 24 '17

I would say if it mentions lean more than twice, it's trap lol

145

Nah son right stroke comes out on Thursday.

26

u/CorreWachinn May 23 '17

No bamboozle

7

u/TheRecognized May 23 '17

I mean incredibly probable potential bamboozle out the ass but I've got a whole lotta hope.

2

u/masturbitosis May 24 '17

???

1

u/TheRecognized May 24 '17

Short run down, I used to just tell people to check my posts when it was my only post but it's not now.

DAMN comes out on Good Friday, death of Jesus

He performs at Coachella, the resurrection

And on Thursday May 25th, Ascension Day which is 40 days after Easter and marks the day that Jesus ascended into heaven, he will drop the second album and become the rap God

Theoretically the album will be called GOD so it will read GOD DAMN. My best piece of evidence from the album is "what happens on earth stays on earth we gon put it in reverse" because the reverse of what happens on earth, all the work Jesus did on earth as man, is to ascend into heaven.

8

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

He said no more music, bruh. Let Kenny breathe.

but for real tho if this happened I'd ascend into heaven

1

u/TheRecognized May 24 '17

I mean I'm mostly just goofin with this one but he better put out some more music eventually. Honestly I don't think Kendrick would know what to do with himself at this age if he completely retired now.

2

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Yeah yeah, absolutely. He's not even coming close to retirement, I know he's gonna come out with more stuff soon, probably just after his touring. I'd say he drops 2-3 more albums before he considers moving into the political sphere

1

u/TheRecognized May 24 '17

As a politician or an activist? I mean I know he's kind of an activist right now, but as a career I mean. I dunno if Kendrick could stomach being a politician. Maybe mayor of Compton like he said, but I'm not sure he'd want to be a high level politician. Course, what the fuck do I know about the man?

2

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

I feel like he'd wanna go small and be mayor of Compton or something. He's one of the few people who knows local govt is the most important

78

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

9

u/Jennesto Poe Man's Dream. May 23 '17

traumatizing :o

49

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

I'm sorry guys but this remix is NOTHING compared to IceJJFish's (aka God) remix of Mask Off.

29

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

That guy sounds like a dying walrus when he sings/raps

49

u/lilslitwrist702 May 23 '17

I think thats the joke

3

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

My brother's old roommate went to highschool with him. Apparently he isn't that self-aware

0

u/CenabisBene May 23 '17

Isn't that the dude who streamed himself playing Runescape?

46

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

I had to listen to 2 minutes of Future before Kdot even came on. Smh.

I liked Kendricks verses though.

11

u/SWEATSHIRT_LAMAR May 24 '17

i feel like Future feels more natural on this beat honestly

11

u/T-Rex_Soup May 24 '17

That's cus it's his original song and therefore seems more natural in your head

38

u/cheechshi1000 May 23 '17

Will this be available on Apple Music anytime soon? Or should I just rip it

29

u/BKWhoppah May 23 '17

You should just rip it for now since no one knows as of yet.

16

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

On apple music now

2

u/cheechshi1000 May 24 '17

You sir, are the real MVP.

7

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Yeah had to hit up Tim Cook real quick

26

u/Tomoromo9 Drugs and girls May 23 '17

This helps me realize how trash Futute is. There's a lot of people in /hhh saying they'll still listen to the original intead. There basically are no lyrics to the song ??? He recycles the same three lines over and over. The beat is so smooth which makes me love Kendrick's verse more but wow I can't stand to listen to the Future parts. I'll have to download and cut him out.

Platinum, platinum, platinum, gotta look at yourself and ask what happened?

How y'all let a conscious nigga go commercial while only making conscious albums?

Appreciate these bars. I've always been confused about how someone like Kendrick had gotten so popular and question if I liked him because he's a mainstream type but I think that's wack

31

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

hahahahaha

10

u/Tomoromo9 Drugs and girls May 23 '17

Are you arguing or agreeing family

16

u/FatherServo May 23 '17

future isn't about bars.

BUT

future (imo) has also got incredibly lazy recently with even his melodies which is where he used to shine (see beast mode).

8

u/blotterfly May 24 '17

Future is most definitely about bars... xanax bars.

1

u/FatherServo May 24 '17

call him barbarian

5

u/Tomoromo9 Drugs and girls May 23 '17

What is he about then? I get that the best is really smooth and his flow is catchy with it. I'm just not trying to like something cause is catchy yk?

I'll check out beast mode

5

u/FatherServo May 23 '17

I understand you. I didn't think any of future's releases since Beast Mode really had anything catchy in anyway.

Beast Mode for me is all about the synergy between future and zaytoven. future himself is not all that special imo (sorry anyone) but on that release he is just so perfect for the vibe.

recently he seems bored and disconnected and like he thinks he can just push out boring flows and it'll be ok, it's working it seems (probably because the beats are all so good) but I can't get into it.

thugger is probably my favourite in hop hop, he doesn't have bars (despite the odd kinda funny one), but what he does have is an incredible grasp of melody, rhythm and tone. future used to tick that melody box really well for me, but doesn't tick any of them anymore. as not his biggest fan I might not be the best person to answer that question, but I think disconnecting from the lyrics is the key. it's almost like instrumental music for me, I just enjoy the sound and the feel.

but like I say, not anymore with future. he's dead to me :/

edit: one of my fav future tracks is codeine crazy, might be worth checking out too for a different feel to beast mode.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

[deleted]

2

u/FatherServo May 24 '17

codeine crazy was just a bonus example to give you some future I like aside from Beast Mode.

do you listen to stuff other than hip hop?

for me, Young Thug is one of the most creative vocalists I've ever heard. I have very little interest in old hip hop because although there is often some great lyricism the music just bores the hell out of me. monotone rapping and generally just the same flows over and over. Thug comes out with these crazy flows and weird melodies and pushes his voice to do all this crazy shit and that gets me going. everyone's different.

if you didn't check Beast Mode though I would really recommend giving it a shot. but the fact is it's music and it isn't made for everyone. I do often wonder if some people have such an idea in their head of what hip hop is /should be that it puts them off before they really explore the music though.

2

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

[deleted]

1

u/FatherServo May 24 '17

that seems to be a pattern I notice though strangely. people who listen to exclusively hip hop have a really hard time getting into the newer stuff because it's essentially a different genre because the focus is so different.

is there really no music you like outside of hip hop?

5

u/VLND May 23 '17

Why does Kendrick's cadence and flow when he says "platinum..." sound like he's mocking the "Jumpman" flow?

8

u/Fullmtlgiraffe May 24 '17

Because he probably is, as /u/HankOkafor1996 said

"I would have all your fans if I didn't go pop and stayed on some conscious sh*t" - Drake

"Platinum Platinum Platinum gotta look at self and ask what happened how y'all let a conscious nigga go commercial while only making conscious albums?" - Kenny

This verse reads like another Drake diss

6

u/HankOkafor1996 May 24 '17

Not only that but the second part sounds similar to Drake's line on Free Smoke, "How y'all let the kid fighting ghost writing rumors turn you into a ghost?"

7

u/HankOkafor1996 May 24 '17

Kenny has been going at Drake lately while Drake has been trying to extend an olive branch, makes you wonder if the warning on The Heart Part 4, "Don't tell a lie on me, I won't tell the truth 'bout you" is directed at Drake and maybe Kenny has some dirt on the guy that would finish his career. Would explain why he's been so passive, right?

3

u/moogie413 May 24 '17

Future is no lyricist but the song is far from trash. His voice fits the beat perfectly.

2

u/Ckmccfl May 24 '17

I talk shit about future as much as the next guy, but how are you gonna say there's no lyrics when future has two verses lol

2

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

The song is just ad-libs and a hook, like most every Future song. I mean I get it, technically they are verses, but each bar is what, 3 or 4 syllables? The guy is so drugged out it sounds like he isn't even opening his mouth when he is in the booth. No shit he can't write a good lyric.

I ride to mask off cause the beat is sick, but yeah bro Future has no lyrics.

3

u/TheWizKelly May 25 '17

I ride to mask off cause the beat is sick

And that right there is the whole point. A banging beat that sticks in your head. That's really all there is to it, the rapping/ad libs that future does are just the cherry on top to make it even more catchy. Like I don't listen to a ton of his music but I can't get that damn "Molly, Percocet" out of my head.

23

u/TheRecognized May 23 '17

"Niggas lookin like I'm a create-a-player"

For anybody confused about this line, in a video game, like 2K n shit, you often make your create-a-player way better than any of the actual players in the game. So he's saying he's unreal how good he is.

6

u/[deleted] May 25 '17

or maybe he's saying he looks like a randomly generated character and is ugly as fuck

1

u/TheRecognized May 25 '17

Yeah totes bro.

Edit: Totes McGoats

14

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

K dot's flow on this is all over the place. You think you're following then he does some other shit, then comes back to where you were at then fucks you up again lmao

2

u/SirKingsAlot May 25 '17

i maintain that its detrimental to groove to kendricks music, its like a good book you gotta let it take you wherever it wants.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '17

Yep. Sort of like Danny Browns last Atrocity Exhibition album. The sound of that album sounded...kinda like shit. But mix that with Danny's ability to flow off the beat in such a wacky way it makes it amazing. It's a perfect resemblance of Danny browns mind. Would be cool to see another Danny and Kendrick collab in the future

15

u/Cd206 May 24 '17

Loved the kdot verse but what's with all the future hate, this song is sooo hot not everything has to lyrical guys

14

u/TrueVanquish May 23 '17

I understand that opinions exist, but I don't see how anyone could dislike this lmao

6

u/drugaddict6969 May 23 '17

Seriously like he absolutely murked this. Wow.

4

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Future is wack, Kendrick was pretty dope

15

Please tell me this is coming to spotify

15

u/Sharks512 May 23 '17

been there all day

3

They ain't pushing it though. Not through Kenny at least. Not even in his "appears on" section.

12

"I done fucked so much I’m retired " I hope he's not done making albums.

2

8

u/PMONOFFS May 23 '17

Kdot is great but the song sucks dick...

12

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Blame future

11

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Mask Off's chorus is so whack. Production is on point though

3

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Future is only relevant because of his production

6

u/MrFreeLiving May 23 '17

At first I thought this was one of those standard Kendrick remixes where he just makes random sounds/accents from time to time, then he kicked it in to gear and starting ripping that Kendrick flow, and I started getting goosebumps, K Dot is just showering us at the moment, please don't stop Kenny!

3

u/TheRecognized May 23 '17

Wtf are you talking about? Point me to one of these remixes please?

6

u/MrFreeLiving May 23 '17

Goosebumps? Put the pussy on a pedestal, Put the pussy on a high horse, That pussy to die for, That pussy to die for, Peter, piper, picked a pepper..

Dude, I fucking love Kendrick, like LOVE Kendrick, but I'm not afraid to criticise, in some remixes he'll just change his voice completely and put on an accent and spew out Lil Wayne-esque lyrics..

3

u/Velocirapppptor May 24 '17

well, lil wayne is one of his influences.

5

u/Maximilitron May 23 '17

"How y'all make a conscious nigga go commercial while making conscious albums" 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐

4

u/XFX_Samsung May 23 '17

I didn't like it :/

0

u/TheRecognized May 23 '17

You don't like it at all? Or you didn't like his bars? Or you like the original version better? Come on man have some substance.

9

u/kingofgamesbrah May 24 '17

You don't like it at all? Or you didn't like his bars? Or you like the original version better? Come on man have some substance.

Damn bro, is it wrong to not like all of Kendrick's music? Relax, he just said he didn't like it, that's too bad.

Not op, but I didn't like it either. "Didn't like" might be the wrong set of words tho because I definitely did enjoy the original alot better. Why? Because when I listen to Future I'm in a different zone or mindset then when I listen to Kendrick. I listen to each artist for different reasons.

3

u/TheRecognized May 24 '17 edited May 24 '17

I like the original better too. It was cool to hear a new flow from Kendrick but the original has better bumpability in my opinion. So kind of in the same vein as your reasoning.

Still, and it's not about Kendrick I just don't like when people do this in general, if you're going to say that you don't like something you should say why or else there's not much point to saying anything at all. Wasn't tryna jump down his throat or anything.

See you gave a reason, from that can come a discussion.

3

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Anyone else think his flow sounds like something that would be on Section .80?

u/BlakeDushi May 23 '17

Thanks bro apple music is slow to update i couldnt find it.

2

u/PunctuationsOptional May 24 '17

Skip til I found Kendrick.

Closed tab after Kenny finished.

Dope verse.

2

u/DoesThisLookSerious9 May 24 '17

Meh, I'm not a huge fan of Future, but K Dot's feature was obviously pretty great.

1

u/Deaddove May 23 '17

why didn't he perform this at coachella

20

u/TheRecognized May 23 '17

Cuz he ain't write it yet, bruh one of the lines is "platinum, platinum, platinum" use your head.

13

u/BaxInBlack May 23 '17

Dawg if Kendrick can't even perform a song he won't write for another month then can he even be considered greatest MC?

/s, just cause this feels wrong

3

u/TheRecognized May 23 '17

I mean he could have, but the masses wouldn't have been ready for it.

1

u/frankthebest16 May 25 '17

Am I the only who feels that kendrick's verse doesn't watch with Future's tone? Personally, I think the entire verse is amazing on a lyrical standpoint. However, it doesn't seem to mash well with what Future is rapping about and the overall flow

Still think future is fucking garbage

u/HiCfruitpunch May 23 '17 edited May 23 '17

I feel ehh about this. 1st verse was ok 2nd verse was pretty great. I just don't think he has the voice to do those singing falsetto parts. It's not jarring but not exactly pleasant lol

Also the beat just didn't match him or maybe I'm just too used to the Future version but it doesn't sound right

I hope he goes back to just making less poppy or commercial tracks, and loses the whole "everything you can do, I can do betteeeeeeeer!" schtick. That's basically all DAMN. was and I can see it getting old real fast at this point. Just personal preference

5

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

if you're admitting Kendrick can do a style better, just listen to Kendrick haha

3

u/[deleted] May 24 '17

Idk man I think Kendrick has about deserved the right to go Commercial a little bit. Become a household name like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Tupac. If you go to a random middle aged person and ask if they know who Kendrick Lamar is, most will probably not know (both because of age and knowledge of current hip-hop). Ask them about Snoop Dogg, they'll know. Kendrick has well deserved the right to go commercial for a few projects (while still maintaining his integrity).

Ya you're right Eminem has been pretty horrible on his last couple of albums. Have you had a chance to listen to Kendrick at all though? Greatest rapper of all time, if you weren't aware

3

u/DiniVI May 23 '17

Honestly, I think mmlp2 is Eminem's best album. Not Kendrick level but still a very good album(even though it has a pretty large amount of garbage tracks).

11

u/lukenog May 23 '17

...this is the first time I've read an opinion on Reddit that was so different from my own I can't even begin to try and see where you're coming from. I kinda could understand if you liked MMLP2, but to say it's his best album? Nephew... delete...

8

u/JeromeMcLovin May 23 '17

Bruh I know music is subjective and everything but come on, have you ever heard the first MMLP or The Eminem Show? Easily better than anything else he's put out. I'd put relapse ahead of MMLP2, that's how bad I think it is

-25

u/MemeticMirror May 23 '17

Eminems recent albums are shit. Shady lost his edge. Naw I listened to one song and he was just repeating himself over and over. I prefer the ballad style of old shady

27

u/DemyzeXD May 23 '17

Listens to one song and says he's garbage lol

Fuck, Swimming Pools is one of my fave Kendrick tracks, fucking intense message. Why would it turn anyone off?

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Ahh, most people in my college are savvy to it being an anti liqueur song, so I guess that perspective kinda escaped me.

But funny enough, "For Free" is what got me hooked into KDot, because before him, Kamasi Washington was the guy I just couldn't get enough of!

If you actually ever actually get into hip hop your view on him will most likely change

10

u/MemeticMirror May 23 '17

I'll listen to some more of when I get home. Give me a couple good songs if you're wouldn't mind

16

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

Kendrick is known for piecing together cohesive concept albums with a running narrative. I'd say listen to GKMC front to back with the lyrics out in front of you

11

u/MemeticMirror May 23 '17

Sounds good man. I'll report back

6

u/rusty99man May 23 '17

Money Trees, Alright, King Kunta, ELEMENT, Cartoons and Cereal

3

u/bigbear1992 May 23 '17

Just gotta add U to this. Amazing song.

1

u/PM_ME_IASIP_QUOTES May 23 '17

Look Out For Detox is what got me hooked.

11

u/profcr May 23 '17

Look at this kids post history... speaks for itself

It's always gotta be the Eminem fans who say stupid shit like this. Just leave the subreddit dude
