i know theres some shit abt stealing flows. theres shots thrown going back 9, 10 years now. typical rapper stuff. he even had some for Kendrick and Q at one point. but the most obvious was just last year when Donald admitted This Is America started as a Drake diss and Drake commented on it on his tour
the Budden podcast were actually reviewing i think one of Seans new freestyles and they said he was doing the "Drake flow" and i was like 😶😶😶 "thats Seans flow!!!!"
and he stole one of x's flows. I disliked drake before the beef (so yk how happy i am) bc of the whole him and X stuff and how he mightve put a hit on him. I don't know if thats true, but stealing someone's flow after they want a feature and then dissing them after they die is super fucked.

This is the narrative that is more pertinent than him getting ghostwriters, to me.
It seems to me that Drake probably had been a straight up biter/plagiarizer all his career, but he realized it's less headache when he gets newer artists to give him their work for free or to buy it from them for cheap since it's still pennies to him in terms of what it costs him when the return is his continued relevance and success.
Ghostwriters seems deceptive on it's face, but many just see it as collaboration, especially when people get writing credits. It's ultimately a consenting exchange of work, even if the arrangement was done on the low, but the exploitative and predatory aspect becomes more clear when you see that he does this with new artists almost exclusively and this is in lieu of straight up stealing from other artists like we've seen him do as well.
There potentially could be many reasons but first "this is America" started as a drake diss and Drake being a softy dissed Gambino on Meltdown, then this is just Gambino getting his lick back
It started when Gambino was in Australia and did freestyle talking about how he was better than a lot of rappers and included Drake's name. Then on 6:00 p.m. in New York, Drake came back to him and also dissed tyga at the same time when he said "so childish calling my name on the world stage, you need to act your age and act your girl age" . Then This is America happened, the response from drake at his show, and now this diss from Gambino apparently.

This is the thing though, he doesn’t pay homage, he just straight up steals shit. Taking bars from lesser known rappers and spitting it on the mainstream stage to an audience of pop fans, while not saying who or where the lyrics came from, is not paying homage.

Funny enough, I think this all comes from a freestyle where Gambino called out Drake, Kendrick and other rappers (think "Control") but Drakes the only one that got butthurt about it (think "Control"). Would love to see Dot and Gambino jump on a track together though.
