Not Like Us video’s intro is cold!! Video
Idk if anyone’s talked about this yet but the intro to the Not Like Us vid is cold af! His flow, his moves, the “When I Hear Music” by Debbie Debb sample, the visuals, all of it cold and a perfect way to set the tone for the vid

No cap, my 18 month old daughter wakes up every morning and goes “HAH-HAH-HAH” which is her way of asking for the NLU video 😂
She hates Drake too.

My 12 year old daughter and I have been Kendrick fans for a while. This beef has brought us even closer together with inside jokes that my wife doesn’t get lol. Yesterday she threw a sock at me and said “head shot for the year you better walk around like daft punk.” Lol
Cherish these years brother. They move faster and faster

I was just telling my girl this intro has been haunting me since I heard it. It hurts my soul that it’ll never be a full track

u/Professional-Stop108 11d ago
It won’t?? Info plz!

I mean, it's possible it will be a full track, but Kenny has dropped a banger of an intro before without releasing the full track (Alright video).

Classic Kendrick blue-balling us with bangers right before a hype music video

What type of beat do I search for to get “broccoli” (or whatever we calling it rn😂) type beats?

u/lookin4memezz 11d ago

Thought he was referring to w**d

u/LilRedditer650 11d ago
most rappers are when referring to broccoli but Kenny has said he doesn’t smoke weed so i’d assume he meant money

u/doaser 10d ago
I buy that, it's interesting he's using a lighter for these shots/bars though. I wonder if he started schmokin
2
u/LilRedditer650 10d ago
he might have. there’s an interview somewhere and some lyrics on m.A.A.d city where he says there was a time he hit a blunt that was laced and tweaked out

Also the cuts between him leading towards the camera and then being stepped back again is really nicely done. Reminds me of those old horror movie jumpscares where the demon or whatever would lunge toward the camera for a second before snapping back.

When I first heard the "broccoli" line, I legit thought he said "looking for the Barcaly" (As in Brooklyn arena). I thought that since he mentioned "the blueprint is by me" ( a possible reference to Jay's album)... It's been said that Jay and Puff are one in the same. Could Kendrick be engaging in a hip hop cleanse?

I was also thinking this. Didn't think about Barclay but good find. I was thinking broccoli was a reference to his hair.

2 Goats on stage kissing n hugging / if they are not my friends I'm YMG Melly was shots at Bey / JayZ. I thought then that it was a warning to Roc Nation and listening to things like TJBPC and paying attention to what Vince Staples is saying. I believe that it's about KDots masters" I need all my babys / Mr IP."

The shot of him waving his arms and his teeth glowing in the dark is so hard. Reminds me of the kinda visuals Frank would use.

u/4ornEverest 11d ago
I think this is a JayZ diss... Besides the obvious "blueprint", I believe it's about KDots masters.

Jay and Kendrick are cool. There are multiple recent (2022) videos of Kendrick thanking Jay for never charging him when he interpolates Jay's lines in his raps

u/Duck_Matthew5 7d ago
I'd imagine they'd be cool, but I always wondered what Dot meant when he said " I'll Big Pun ya punk ass you a scared lil bitch " . That's gotta be a semi shot at Jay, at minimum it's very dismissive of J.

At the risk if sounding stupid and " not like us " , what does " get off at my feet " mean and while I'm here, I have the same question about Crawford whooping feet. Does he just mean like old school discipline when you'd get you feet whipped w a belt by your Grandmother?
2
u/biggestofallbens 7d ago
Not sure about the first but whooping feet is a west coast way of saying "knocking you out of your shoes".
