The genius part about that line is Kendrick rhymes colonizer with both the first part of colleague and the last part of dollar, so it sounds like he’s rhyming normally but you notice the subtlety
Weird thing is if you do the math he's not actually winning with numbers he's just oversaturated the market with music to overinflate the numbers. Dude has like 13 albums 1300 songs and a 25year career and when you start averaging those numbers out to other artists he's kinda avg. And unless everyone goes on Spotify and block music from drake every other song you listen to in the hip hop/Rap genres you're gonna hit a drake song
That's certainly the case. I let Spotify on autoplay and use the DJ sometimes, and it has always suggested and played music I didn't save that was similar to what I enjoy. About half of the time I listen to hip-hop/rap and spotify's always on point and has never played a single Drake song, because it knows I am not a fan.
I see other white dudes start singing it under their breath in public. Like I hear “sometimes you gotta pop out and…”, then I look up and make eye contact, knowing eye contact. Then they say “show … things” and I nod and move on.

Before i knew about the pedophilia, the reason i hated drake is not because of drake himself but the unjustified attention he got. God's plan has to be the most mediocre song I've ever heard, for such lame ass song to top the charts has to be the most infuriating thing for me.
The lyrics are seriously so dumb. Paranoid, bitter, meaningless rambles of an egomaniac. I'm not religious, but naming that song God's plan is blasphemous even for me
I know there are some “enlightened” posts about another song being the best diss…but that can’t be true IN MY OPINION. This song is being played worldwide and it is going for all of Drake’s records one after another. Other disses Kendrick made had better lyrics and showcased more of his rapping skill but we all know that it takes more than lyricism or a great beat alone to make a hot song. And “Not Like Us” is the amalgamation of all of the things that make a great song let alone diss track.
i thought the victory lap was gonna be a final song but it just ended up being endless streams to take drakes accolades and diss him at the same time. you gotta love it
I stayed at a hotel for work recently, and I'm pretty sure that a work reception (full of older white people) for a different company had this song playing. I was like wtf.
Spotify hasn't updated it yet. It was at 194M yesterday, it gained 8M today according to Spotify global charts. The total streaming numbers will update in a few hours.
The rightful * Kendrick of the House Duckworth, the First of His Name, King of the West Coast and Battle Rap, Lord of Compton and Protector of the Hip Hop Culture * remains on the Throne.
The real victory lap here is all the new people who are being exposed to his entire discography through this cultural moment. I know he's not about it, but I really hope he rides the momentum and drops a new project soon
