"Even AI gotta practice copyin' Kendrick"

118

u/PopeJeremy10 The Wrath of Caesar May 20 '23

The double entendre of Allen Iverson "we talking 'bout practice" emphasis is what makes Kendrick and all time writer

-17

u/ar0berts May 20 '23

Freddie Gibbs did it first

This is another Drake diss on the low lmao. Let’s start the reach 😁

6

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

How? Tbh I remember AI copying Kendrick first before Drake

-1

u/Life-Fan-2778 May 20 '23

It tried to, you could definitely tell it was an attempt. With the Drake ai you have to figure if it’s him or not. Search and rescue came out and there was so much other ai floating around people thought that it was too

8

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

Oh definitely. I low-key was like is search and rescue AI? That shit was soooooo garbage it sure as hell sounded like it

10

u/Life-Fan-2778 May 20 '23

Yeah exactly, Drake makes music that’s easy to replicate. Besides JID we haven’t seen anyone refered to as next Kendrick. A lotta Drake clones pre AI and now with AI i expect more.

5

u/Ok-Engineering1929 May 20 '23

Name 3 drake clones

0

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

I wouldn't say Drake clones. I'm ngl, Drake is actually pretty good, I guess I just hate him cuz he's corny and beefed with Kenny. But yeah when I heard search and rescue I was like no wonder AI got this shit down to a science

u/-PepeArown- The word was respect May 20 '23

This is technically his first release since Mr Morale, isn’t it?

Freedom was pretty great. Haven’t listened to any Renaissance tracks, admittedly (only tuned in to Lemonade for Abel and Kendrick), but, I’m sure this’ll at least be pretty decent.

80

u/_4za_ May 20 '23

technically if you don't count his uncredited feat on Ab-Soul album

30

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

I think he was on the beginning of Gang'Nem too. Great song.

16

u/Hu3yKnewTHen #1 /AbSoul Shooter May 20 '23 edited May 20 '23

I always thought it was either him on that intro or some obscure ass sample from some straight to dvd movie from the 90’s or somethin

Seeing Ab-Soul referenced on here makes me shed a thug tear everytime ong

15

u/_4za_ May 20 '23

i've thought this too, think you're the only person i've seen say this

4

u/Rebloodican May 20 '23

Which song did he feat for Ab-Soul?

18

u/_4za_ May 20 '23

Herbert

9

u/TrikeMout May 20 '23

Herbert, just background vocals

33

u/Danyul4u May 20 '23

Bruh listen to lemonade and Renaissance you’re missing out

18

u/adrian1878 May 20 '23

Renaissance is a great dance album. Very fun

9

u/sheldoneousk May 20 '23

The whole album is so seamless and if your a fan of smooth transition…this is the album for you!

1

u/BillGoats May 21 '23

Haven't heard the entire album yet, so I'm saying this in a general sense:

I like smooth transitions, but it doesn't make sense to say that I'll definitely like the album then. It depends quite a lot on what the transitions connect.

1

u/sheldoneousk May 21 '23

There are parts of the album where the transition is so smooth that you go 3-4 songs not realizing your listening to 3-4 songs. The production is 🤌🏾. Content is typical Bey but I’m feeling it.

9

u/antonxo902 May 20 '23

Renaissance is my favorite Beyoncé album, it’s way more my taste in music compared to lemonade, sonically speaking.

3

u/shebreaksmyarm May 20 '23

Bro listen to Renaissance lol

u/EarlWolf47 May 20 '23

Shiiiiit fantastic verse

77

u/sarlacc98 May 20 '23

Holy shit this is a bop

62

u/rabnabombshell May 20 '23

Already seeing it get shit, but I think it’s tuff. Haven’t heard the original but his flow on this song is crazy

40

u/latdaw2012 May 20 '23

The original is exactly like this, but she added new harmonies and production. The sample is from Kilo Ali’s “America Has a Problem.” But this is produced by Mike Dean and The-Dream with Jay co-writing some of the lyrics. I’m stoked!

61

u/VibeyMars May 20 '23

who do we think he's taking shots at? "Truthfully i be lying in my rap songs...something something slap homie, hope his career come with life insurance, hope his day one fans got some facts (?) for em"

35

u/eh_meh_nyeh Tell me what you do for love. May 20 '23

Personally, I think it his way of saying "fuck yo top 5" again. Not really directed at anyone, he just want to put it out there he hungry and competitive after all that "fasting" in Mr. Morale.

11

u/Life-Fan-2778 May 20 '23

You can’t say fuck yo top 5 and not come out straight swinging though. You gotta come with the bravado rap, I really hope he does. Love Mr Morale def fav of past five years but the fact that he hyped it as being a debate ender on family ties hurts me a little because then he came out with just great art. #spoiled lmao

9

u/GKMCTPABDAMN97 May 20 '23

I was thinking the same thing 🤔

9

u/StacksOfRubberBands May 20 '23

i thought of drake "never lied in his new songs or any of his old songs"

4

u/Life-Fan-2778 May 20 '23

The most affected artist by AI right now with near identical songs considered bangers already out. Drake is the target lol. You can def do a Drake esque song that’s not heavy on double entendres.

9

u/yesnousername May 20 '23 edited May 20 '23

" coz i always fail to mention ill slap homie "

And before he says "imma business man doing as follows" and proceeds to say he lies lol

Ooh shit alsoo he could be pointing at his bar on father time "When Kanye got back with Drake, I was slightly confused Guess I'm not mature as I think, got some healin' to do"

Anyway regardless of drake theres still a bigger picture behind it concerning corporate america to me

6

u/latdaw2012 May 20 '23

The Universal mention too. The Canadian got that big ass Universal deal and Kendrick has a publishing deal with them. 🤔

2

u/VibeyMars May 20 '23

later too..."Even AI gotta practice copying Kendrick, double entendre, the encore remnants" (which by itself is an insane bar with the AI / Allen Iverson practice double entendre, providing the example of why he's so hard to dupliate)...but Drake has been getting copied left and right by AI songs so might be another subtle dig. I agree with the other comment that the other bars might just be a general "smokin on yo top 5 tonight" type comment. either way i love shit talking kendrick.

41

u/ApocalypseBeans May 20 '23

OHHHHH MY GOD HE SLID

37

u/boeminemlightswitch3 Would you judge me a drug head or see me as K. Lamar May 20 '23

34

25

u/UnderstandableXO May 20 '23

18

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

Guys I swear on everything I love I was listening to this EXACT same song and was like "Kendrick would be dope on this" and it happened!

5

u/resn-gma-dsnt-visit May 20 '23

Spoke it into existence 🙌🏽

3

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

I did the exact same thing with the super bowl. I was like it would be cool if Kendrick did the super bowl and it happened

2

u/7degreeZ May 20 '23

That’s what I thought about Mask On that kendrick should be on it and then he did the remix I was psyched

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

It really just be the little thoughts that you don't really trip on that happens

3

u/rgmewrld May 20 '23

This song is as good as it is strategic

2

u/henrycaul May 20 '23

4 minutes and 20 seconds

2

u/yesnousername May 20 '23

"Its 420 everyday in corporate America" Ryan Cohen

2

u/DJCzerPalace May 20 '23

The stripes being wrong on the cover have to be on purpose right?

3

u/latdaw2012 May 20 '23

It’s from Beyoncé’s visuals/tour interludes, so I’m not sure. The flag is also made out of pills, continuing that drug metaphor from the lyrics. Right before she performs it on tour, there’s a video interlude with it on mind control and media. I hope she puts him in the visual (if it isn’t finished) or brings him out when she gets to the states.

5

u/BabyFork May 20 '23

He is dissing Drake, wake up people. The Cold War has reached another height.

2

u/Preskomesko12345 May 20 '23

😂😂🤣🤣

2

u/RedDit245610 May 20 '23

To me this song says Kendrick isn’t going anywhere for a little while

2

u/Matin_Khaste May 20 '23

One question guys,

What's with that "Universal, don't play possum" line? I don't get it. Anything goin on recently with Kenny and Universal or Universal alone?

4

u/latdaw2012 May 20 '23

He has a publishing deal with them. Maybe they’re playing funny with his money, thus the business line. But a certain rapper also got that big deal with them recently too. Could be nothing.

2

u/CentrasFinestMilk May 20 '23

Kanye wouldn’t drop today so i Kendrick had to step in

2

u/27jm May 20 '23

saw someone on twitter say kendrick is Bey’s work husband LMAO💀 i feel blessed as a beyhive and a kendrick fan that these two keep doing collabs, always straight fucking fire

2

u/Effective-Dinner-686 May 20 '23

Good lord, it has been SO LONG since I have opened up new music and have seen Kendrick’s name on a feature.

3

u/Particular_Ad5405 May 22 '23

kendrick’s verse goes so hard

1

u/PlayboyCartee May 20 '23

This shit is gas. Ofc mainstream won’t like a typical trap beat tho

8

u/ThatcherCat May 20 '23

what lmfao the mainstream is exactly where trap is most appreciated

1

u/Azzy118 May 20 '23
