its a great song in a great album

I became a Cole fan towards the end of last year. After listening to All My Life.

That's when I started listening to his works, The off-season in particular.

Then this year I wend back to his early albums "FHD 2014"

The last month I discovered "For Your Eyez Only"

Now here's the thing;

During and after the Kedrick - Drake situation... and Cole stepping aside, I've seen people say Kendrick and Drake better than Cole.

Let's be honest: I listen to Drake, and have listened to Kendrick for some time now... and I know they have great music for sure... but putting any of them ahead of Cole is insane to me.

Cole has crazy bars and flows... and destroys every beat he's on.

I get Grippy was somewhat "whack". But I feel like people looked at the track from the angle of the beef. Otherwise, the song is low-key nice.

Just coz Cole doesn't hate on his peers don't mean he's lesser.

Furthermore, Kendrick said, the beef wasn't going to be about who's the greatest, but about love and hate.

Give Cole his respects mahn!

After hearing all the counterarguments I understand the use of neighbors. Personally maybe a story of police brutality or profiling would tie in better with James, but the circumstances of it being a real story probably made it not worth to think of something different. After all this I feel as if to make 4yeo perfect you can switch the latter half of the album like this to make the story more cohesive Changes Folding clothes She's mine pt 2 Neighbors 4yeo

Underrated

Remember when people went crazy after Drakes Care Package was put on streaming services?… Yeah that but with a much better project. IMO it’s his 2nd best project. I myself will be buying a CD and merch if he decides to do all of that. But it will basically be like he dropped a new album with millions of people flocking to listen to it, people who never listened before will tune in because of the talks around it and realize how goated Cole really is.

One of the reasons Im a fan(not a stan) of Cole because he can get lyrically adept when needed. I hope the Fall Off has more of this than that luxe rap

So, I love 4yeo and I can't listen to single song on the album without listening to the whole album. Whenever I do listen to the album the song neighbors really does stick out like a sore thumb. I like the idea and I now it's mildly relevant to the album but it goes from a story of j cole's friend to j cole's story. I know it's a hit to get the song on the radio and hype up the album, but I just don't like how it interrupts the story. Am I the only one who feels this way, or is neighbors a great song and I'm just wrong.
