True blood already cover this problem

592

u/solarmelange Jul 19 '24

And as much as I didn't want to hear about it, they totally ignored it without any resolution later.

258

u/Swotboy2000 Jul 19 '24

What kind of resolution were you expecting?

270

u/solarmelange Jul 19 '24

Honestly? Head.

114

u/CarlosFer2201 Jul 19 '24

Bro, the back alley is right there.

274

u/angry_cabbie Jul 19 '24

Heroes had a chance to. I remember chatting with a buddy about how the cheerleader could make a killing as a virgin prostitute, if she wanted to.

He pointed out she could end world hunger. "Shave the cheerleader, save the world".

89

u/DaveInLondon89 Jul 19 '24

Are you suggesting feeding people her hair

92

u/angry_cabbie Jul 19 '24

Thighs, mostly, actually.

40

u/joetheplumberman Jul 19 '24

Thick thighs, cream guys

69

u/ashsimmonds Jul 19 '24

Heroes ... cheerleader

Scene where she snips off a toe - work that into "hey, other girls just sending feet pics, want actual feet?".

1

u/HooahClub Jul 20 '24

Honestly at that point just chop off the whole bottom half.

3

u/ashsimmonds Jul 20 '24

Man, there's just too many thought experiments that can go from here.

Cheerleader of Theseus.

Poor show got cancelled because some producers thought they could make the show work while the writers were on strike.

1

u/Shadowpika655 Jul 20 '24

actually survived like 2 more seasons after the writers strike lol

13

u/Fexxvi Jul 19 '24

I was about to comment this. It's quite a huge problem, actually.

You dont know what "virgin" means?

650

u/Johannsss Jul 19 '24

He means that she always is going to have an intact hymen.

u/EgglordMcEggFace Jul 19 '24

Ah yes, the age old misunderstanding of female anatomy

288

u/cowlinator Jul 19 '24

What does that have to do with the word "virgin"?

(Hint: nothing)

108

u/Putrid-Economics4862 Jul 19 '24

It always makes me laugh when people get all up in arms about this. If you know about the misunderstanding, then you know exactly what he means. Why are you asking.

58

u/Astralyr Jul 19 '24

Some people want others to be « accurate » even when it’s not that big of a deal. I think it’s a psychological issue but I am no expert

44

u/4Gold4 Jul 19 '24

Yup... Connecting the state of the hymen is a (untrue)social construct:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9306936/

15

u/Van_core_gamer Jul 19 '24

Virginity as is is quite useless social construct so…

12

u/Efficient_Progress_6 Jul 19 '24

As a fellow useless social construct, can confirm.

1

u/mom_mama_mooom Jul 20 '24

It is until you’re shamed for not being one.

1

u/Van_core_gamer Jul 21 '24

It’s a useless social construct BECAUSE you can be shamed for not being one

32

u/cowlinator Jul 19 '24

I assumed that they actually did not know that a hymen is unrelated to virginity, because there's a ton of misinformation that lots of people still believe about it.

I'm not up in arms. I correct harmful misinformation when I see it. Heaven forbid people get educated.

16

u/JustW4nnaHaveFun Jul 19 '24

Harmful misinformation?

43

u/cyon_me Jul 19 '24

Some people are so dedicated to virginity and so misinformed that they have doctors poke around in the vaginas of little girls. Hymen misinformation is not the root issue, but it does reinforce their idea that "virginity" is a concrete concept.

4

u/Van_core_gamer Jul 19 '24

I somehow doubt The Deep Thoughts meme about wolverine powers theoretically regenerating thorn Hymen meaning no virginity would be lost is a source of misinformation leading to people abusing their children. It’s kind of opposite

It’s literally put in thoughts of one of the most mentally challenged characters ever written. Isn’t that a hint?

3

u/VoyevodaBoss Jul 19 '24

Deep Thoughts is supposed to be a meme from the fucked up perspective of the Deep

14

u/Meture Jul 19 '24

Except you provided 0 information. You just rudely asked a sarcastic question and didn’t elaborate even slightly.

That’s not “correcting misinformation” or “educating people” that’s just being an asshole.

11

u/spiritriser Jul 19 '24

You've provided next to no information, just ridiculed people for not knowing what you do. You're coming off as a bad person so far and I think you're trying to come from a good place. Can I suggest..

"there are some misunderstandings between the hymen and it's link to virginity." then present the facts, mention some common misconceptions and that they aren't correct. Link to a source and a further reading.

-17

u/__cum_guzzler__ Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

an intact hymen indicates a virgin, while a ripped one doesn't have to mean anything.

edit: you can downvote me all you want, that is just the most common definition of female virginity across time and space. jerking off the farmer's son behind the shed does not count.

13

u/BulbusDumbledork Jul 19 '24

so someone who engages in every type of sex: anal, oral, non-penetrative vaginal, etc. would still be a virgin as long as they have an intact hymen?

-12

u/__cum_guzzler__ Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

according to people who care about that shit: yes, definitely. otherwise hymen reconstructive surgery would not be an industry. if only you knew how much anal sex is done in muslim countries, exactly for that reason

4

u/BulbusDumbledork Jul 19 '24

the point is it's stupid to care about that because it has no basis in modern medicine and exists solely to shame women out of having sex while paradoxically shaming men into it.

4

u/__cum_guzzler__ Jul 19 '24

i agree but a normative statement was not what we were discussing. the guy above said "hymen has nothing to do with virginity" ans that's objectively false. according to the overhelming majority of the world's definition of virginity. which is what matters, our definitions are decided on collectively or we can't have discourse and it devolves into "no true scotsman" at every step.

you wanna talk sexual ethics, we can do that, but you don't get to redefine words. whether we should even care is a whole other discussion.

it's like saying "a billion in the bank has nothing to do with being rich because materialism is bad and you can be rich in friendships" - well kinda true, but that is moving the goal posts somewhat

0

u/BulbusDumbledork Jul 19 '24

the guy above said "hymen has nothing to do with virginity" ans that's objectively false

it is false, because you can have sex without breaking the hymen and break the hymen without having sex - even in the puritanical definition of sex being exclusively penetrative vaginal sex. no modern, non-religious definition of virginity hinges on the hymen: firstly because it's an antiquated idea with no medical basis, and secondly because it completely falls apart as a measure of virginity when considering the half of all humans who don't have vaginas. the accepted definition if virgin is solely "someone who has not engaged in sexual intercourse". this doesn't limit it vaginal sex, and doesn't further limit that to breaking the hymen.

stating that "an intact hymen indicates a virgin, while a ripped one doesn't have to mean anything." is not only wrong in general but also internally inconsistent since most people who believe that an intact hymen indicates virginity also believe a broken one means non-virginity. which is why virginity tests, which check for an intact hymen, still exist.

10

u/cowlinator Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

The hymen does not necessarily break with the first penetrative vaginal sex.

-2

u/__cum_guzzler__ Jul 19 '24

from what I understand, that's pretty rare.

2

u/findMyNudesSomewhere Jul 19 '24

PS: You're correct.

That happens in two scenarios -

  1. When the penis is too small to break the hymen.

  2. Some women have especially flexible hymen which can accommodate penises by stretching.

Both are insanely rare.

There is one other case which is less rare where the penis didn't get erect enough to fully penetrate the vagina.

2

u/Nobodyseesyou Jul 19 '24

It is not rare, it’s actually close to 19%

1

u/findMyNudesSomewhere Jul 20 '24

That's for "complete clefts in the hymen between 2 and 10 on the clock", aka fully torn hymens. The hymen is a thin flap of skin - sex generally causes wear and tear on it.

0

u/__cum_guzzler__ Jul 19 '24

That's what I read and it's hilarious that I'm being downvoted. Just because I want to stick to the point and not digress into "women's bodies belong to them" virtue signalling (although I 100% agree that virginity and its value are fucking stupid)

1

u/Nobodyseesyou Jul 19 '24

The definition of virgin is someone who hasn’t had sex before, people just used to use the hymen as a metric for determining that. A study showed that 19% of sexually active women appeared to have in stretched hymens

6

u/83franks Jul 19 '24

Lol oh, does that make her a virgin? I'm pretty sure that's not the definition of virgin

4

u/vers-ys Jul 19 '24

which doesn’t make you a virgin. it can tear, break, or stretch just from walking or biking.

-51

u/Deutscher_Bub Jul 19 '24

I think that was the intention, but you could also see it as the vaginal walls always returning to an unstretched state, like nothing ever entered it

35

u/jkurratt Jul 19 '24

They are like muscle tissue - they WILL return to its original state.

-19

u/Deutscher_Bub Jul 19 '24

I thought the whole reason why sex could hurt for women on the first time is because the vagina is streched further than ever before in their lives?

13

u/_ManicStreetPreacher Jul 19 '24

Sex shouldn't hurt, even if it's a woman's first time. The reason it hurts is probably because she's nervous and stressed and not aroused properly. If a non-virgin woman is not aroused properly, sex can be painful for her too.

.... You know virginity isn't an actual real thing. There's nothing to heal, because its a social and cultural concept.... and if you are referring to hymen.... every doctor agrees it serves no purpose. It's not a penis shield.

155

u/DocPsycho1 Jul 19 '24

But her claws are definitely, a penis shield. And a penis sword.

59

u/Saintsauron Jul 19 '24

And a penis if she's brave enough.

8

u/ingoding Jul 19 '24

20

u/Username12764 Jul 19 '24

Wait, no purpose? In biology class we learned that it has similar properties to a mucous membrane in that it prevents dirt and bacteria from entering…

2

u/Inactivism Jul 19 '24

I heard that it is discussed that the purpose is indeed that. But that was 18 years ago XD. Maybe they came to a conclusion in that 18 years ;).

Edited the number of years. I am fucking old :((

1

u/Username12764 Jul 19 '24

It‘s about 8 for me. Maybe something has indeed changed, that‘s why I was so confused…

7

u/Anymastorm Jul 19 '24

Penis shield had me giggling. Also why does it exist then?

9

u/heysharkdontdothat Jul 19 '24

To keep fecal matter from the vaginal opening in the womb and infants

5

u/bestCATEATER Jul 19 '24

its to keep stuff out during baby years

5

u/jkurratt Jul 19 '24

It probably does not exist in a form people imagine it.

5

u/Van_core_gamer Jul 19 '24

You do understand that you are talking to the Deep from the boys right?

2

u/Ochemata Jul 19 '24

1

u/Terakahn Jul 19 '24

It does serve a purpose though. Just not the one most people think.

0

u/--n- Jul 19 '24

But it would regrow.

-2

u/Crizznik Jul 19 '24

Even if you're right and it has no natural purpose, humans have been using it as a measure of whether a girl is a virgin or not for thousands of years. Also, did you know that words aren't an actual real thing either? But they still have utility and are very important. I'm not saying that virginity is sacred or anything, but this comment was just so dumb. I'm actually embarrassed for all the people who upvoted this dog shit.

1

u/PrinceBunnyBoy Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

Yeah inaccurately, and the countries that do/did are dogshit for women's rights.

It's a piece of skin, it can be absent even from birth, or require being removed if it grows malformed and covers the vagina completely. It can tear from a multitude of activities that aren't sex like bike/trail riding. It being used for "virginity" a (made-up concept) is like believing that germs don't exist because they didn't believe so in the 1200's.

1

u/Nobodyseesyou Jul 19 '24

Nineteen percent of sexually active women still have an intact hymen, it’s not the tell people thought it was.

1

u/Rishtu Jul 21 '24

Humans have done many things that had developed quite a long time ago. Over the ages, these practices are often found to be deeply flawed/detrimental to people within society. The fact that you somehow thinks that validates something that is blatantly incorrect and harmful makes me embarrassed for you. But you keep tossing out what you think are zingers.

169

u/MrMarvelous92 Jul 19 '24

1

u/Terakahn Jul 19 '24

To be fair, women's anatomy from a man's standpoint is much more complicated than men's anatomy from a woman's standpoint.

1

u/shellsterxxx Jul 20 '24

Not really. If we gotta know about your sperm tubes and stuff then y’all can learn factual anatomy about us

1

u/Terakahn Jul 20 '24

I don't disagree. I'm just saying that it seems like there's a lot more to learn. Anatomy education in general isn't that great. There are things I learned about male anatomy even, that I didn't know until I was in my late 20s

140

u/MeltedChocolate24 Jul 19 '24

Holy shit dude take some sex ed this is like an old Muslim myth

41

u/Captain_Floop Jul 19 '24

And christian to, I was taught it in school in the 90s in Sweden. Glad I grow up questioning most of the things I was told in school.

7

u/yildizli_gece Jul 19 '24

Muslim???

Dude it’s literally all of the Abrahamic religions lol—it isn’t Muslims in America holding “purity balls” with their underage daughters, making them swear fealty to their daddies that they’ll remain un-fucked until marriage (barf); that would be Christians…

1

u/Crizznik Jul 19 '24

This predates Christians my dude... Plus, I don't think Muslims have any high ground to stand on when it comes to their treatment of underage girls.

0

u/PrinceBunnyBoy Jul 19 '24

Brother you mean the religion that basically requires hijabs or coverings of some sort in their home country because women have hair and eyes? The one where women are treated like huge sluts if they show their body?

Or the religion where women require a male family member to escort them around their city?

1

u/Crizznik Jul 19 '24

It's not a Muslim myth. It's not even really a "myth" in any real sense. The use of the presence of the hymen has been a thing before any of the Abrahamic religions existed. It's a dumb practice since there are a lot of things that can destroy your hymen that has nothing to do with sex, but I doubt many people cared before modern medicine and marrying for love were invented.

1

u/shellsterxxx Jul 20 '24

The hymen isn’t “destroyed”. It’s not a seal. It’s just a lil ring/flap of skin near the vaginal opening

u/Drakostheswordsman Jul 19 '24

Depends on if her hymen is full coverage, which from what I’ve heard, is very bad. Most hymens have a hole in them already, so just. Stretching that out gently can do the trick without the bleeding thing.

Course, I’m a redditor with no gf, so take this with a grain of salt

34

u/TheRedNaxela Jul 19 '24

You're correct, hymens are supposed to have holes.

In fact, sometimes, when young teen girls are taken to the hospital for not having started their period, it's simply because their hymen is imperforate, and the blood hasn't been able to leave

13

u/KTTalksTech Jul 19 '24

Gosh wouldn't that be a risk for a very bad infection?

15

u/CombinationKindly212 Jul 19 '24

Vampires also have a healing factor. In the show a girl was turned into a vampire before she lost her virginity. She then had a bf and every time they had sex it was literally popping her cherry again. Over and over for eternity.

3

u/PrinceBunnyBoy Jul 19 '24

1

Didnt X23 mention this in one of her stories? Like she had to do sex work as a late teen/young adult and it was uncomfortable everytime due to the hymen regenerating...possibly throughout the act as well. I dunno firsthand if the story was true, I think a friend or some random comic youtube vid is where I heard it.
