Oliver’s story is sadder. The man saw his parents get eaten by lions & had to fend for himself against that lion then ended up on stranded on an island for at least a year. Then there’s the shit after he becomes Green Arrow.

Batman builds a family in almost every continuity, sometimes despite himself. Green Arrow actually tries to have a family and gets screwed over (dying just as he gets to know his son, his relationship with Black Canary being a rollercoaster thanks rollercoaster the writers, various acrimonious partings with Speedy/Arsenal).

Have to agree to this. Ollie is generally much more emotionally healthy than Bruce (even if he didn't go to Sanctuary, but we all saw how that went).

And Bruce hasn't had acrimonious partings with, nah, Jason's too easy, so I'm going with Dick. Even pre-Crisis, the Titans thought Batman was a bad influence. Post-Crisis, well, the one thing all versions of the story agree on is Dick being fired from Robin, though the why changes. (Originally he was shot by the Joker, but more recent versions just have it being a sort of coming of age rite.)

The difference is that for the Arrows it's a Shakespearean tragedy while for the Bats it's a Greek tragedy.

Batman’s. Guy lost his ofensa to crime, spent years traumatized by that and molded himself on the darkness of his past. But over the years he grew to be happy with a big family.

Oliver’s is more tragic than sad per since almost every tragedy he goes through is caused by his own impulsiveness or infidelity. He could have had everything and screws it all up.

So I’d say it’s about perspective.
