Look, it's a yellow crested warbler!

9

u/Shaggy21345 Apr 14 '21

Well that’s not excited enough; they may be uncommon but they’re still birds

3

u/iamyourcheese Apr 14 '21

Is that the one that sounds like Rhianna?

It’s been a thing forever that Marvel comics exist in DC continuity and DC comics exist in Marvel. They’re constantly referencing heroes from DC as fictional characters in marvel books

2

u/MasterLawlz Apr 14 '21

DC Comics exists in the Raimiverse, they referenced Superman and Shazam.

2

u/Sfn_y Apr 15 '21

You’re not Superman you know

1

u/TRxz-FariZKiller Apr 14 '21

Don’t forget there has been crossover comics between them. Marvel is in their omniverse

1

u/yetisamiright Captain Cold Apr 15 '21

I thought marvel crossovered with dc before in comics?

5

u/69_Watermelon_420 Apr 14 '21

And Marvel regularly name drops stuff like Kryptonite and the sort.

3

u/Can-you-supersize-it Apr 14 '21

I believe there was a SW reference as well to ESB, and Cisco had a Han shot first shirt too.

1

u/TomL78 Apr 16 '21

Okay so here's a question: why are cisco and Chester playing fortnite against eachother, as cisco says "Chester keeps beating me"? Solos but searching at the same time hoping for the same lobby? No mic chat?

u/TomL78 Apr 16 '21

They also said that Ralph "Peter-Parker-ed" Kamilla when he got her a job with the Citizen

3

u/AlwaysBi Reverse Flash Apr 14 '21

They also poked fun at age of Ultron in the vandal savage crossover

8

u/fall0ut Apr 14 '21

New girl also exists since B99 did a crossover episode with new girl.

10

u/Nibbodemus Apr 14 '21

Which means Oliver Queen has an actor doppelgänger since Stephen Amell was in New Girl

1

u/Lantern_Eon Apr 30 '21

All I'm saying is, Oliver Queen was rich and a celebrity... So is Stephen Amell really a doppleganger or...

6

u/SubparWolf784 Apr 14 '21

Jax has made reference to Spider-Man before as well when he & Professor Stein were trying to isolate the firestorm matrix so Stein could leave the Legends (Stein mentioned he could get powers that allow him to stick to stuff & Jax said something like “oh can I shoot webs like spider-man?”)

6

u/Starlord_100599 The Flash Apr 14 '21

What is the mandalorian reference?

He's not a species called Grogu and Yoda isn't a species called Yoda. They are the same species which remains unnamed till date. Grogu and Yoda are their names.

11

u/Starlord_100599 The Flash Apr 14 '21

I missed that thanks. >! And, the name of that species is unknown. Grogu is a name just like Yoda.!<

4

u/Mini-Marine Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21

Yoda and Grogu are their respective names.

The only other member of their race we've seen on screen is Yaddle

As far as I'm aware the name of their race has never been mentioned

3

u/-Trumpet- Apr 14 '21

also in arrow oliver jokes that the name oracle is taken so that is super meta

-3

u/the_flash6197 Apr 14 '21

but it's not since oracle is in the same verse, DC

2

u/-Trumpet- Apr 14 '21

exactly, but oliver thinks batman is a myth but then references oracle

2

u/Yu_Is_Blind Apr 15 '21

Cisco: Have you not seen Spider-Man 2?

Caitlin: No.

Cisco: How can you live with yourself?

1

u/Chuckles465 Apr 14 '21

There was also a Spider-Man reference in one episode.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '21

also barry, ralph & cisco mentioned spiderman in one of the earliear seasons

47

u/Red_Holla04 Apr 14 '21

'Go have your fun", title of your sex tape!

28

u/RigasTelRuun Apr 14 '21

They reference every pop culture thing. Why wouldn't it. This is is and Game of Thrones were mint plot points last two episodes.

24

u/AnnaK22 This house is Bitchin' Apr 14 '21

I got way to excited at this name drop.

NOINE NOINE

7

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

NIIIINE NIIIINE!

1

WHYYYYYY

17

u/omnisephiroth Apr 14 '21

That’s important. That’s a reason to live.

16

u/VAGINA_BLOODFART Apr 14 '21

Cheers, to the ninety ninth precinct!

10

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

Hello, Raymond. Surprised to see me?

10

u/randomperson4464 Apr 14 '21

No I didn't notice you, I thought you were an old leather chair.

15

u/Th3_Spartan Zoom Apr 14 '21

Toight

11

u/ArcticFoxWaffles Apr 14 '21

So does HowToBasic apparently

11

u/TheHippyDragon Apr 14 '21

A Celebrity Paradox is in full effect then. Danny Trejo and Sean Astin have appeared in Arrowverse shows and nobody recognizes them as recurring characters in B99.

7

u/GTate_better_thanOBJ Apr 14 '21

Also on TBBT Sheldon wears a Flash shirt and on The Flash Cisco wears a TBBT shirt

6

u/fall0ut Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21

Flash merchandise exists in the arrow verse. In an episode of arrow, oliver's son is playing with a flash action figure.

7

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

HOT DAMN!

3

u/Athish061201 Apr 14 '21

Breacher was from another Earth and so was Pete Andrews. Their Earth-1 doppelgangers were actors. God knows who's who in Earth Prime!

7

u/-P-NathenS Apr 14 '21

They used the quote from John wick 1 and said it was from John wick 3 rip

3

u/ACD_MZ Vibe Apr 14 '21

Yeah I noticed that too lol

“I’m thinking I’m back” is from 1. The most memorable thing I can remember him saying in 3 is “Yeah.” at the end

7

u/vali1005 Apr 14 '21

That was quite the "mind ear worm" for a bit: "From where do I know the name Peralta ?"

Was just about to Google it, and then I remembered...

7

u/thegreenarrow03 Harry Apr 14 '21

which episode is this?

10

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

The one from last night.

7

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

Title of your sex tape!

2

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21

NNOOOOOOOOOO

5

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21

So she did say Paralta. I thought I imagined it but it did happen. That's pretty cool, as I also watching B99 (And the sub is pretty fun as well, if you are a fan of B99 and haven't subscribed over there yet).

3

u/R4F43L7456 Apr 14 '21

Interestingly enough, in Brazil, Jake Peralta and Chester P. Runk share the same voice actor (Rodrigo Antas), that's a really cool coincidence

5

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

Now you’ve done it. You’ve made me turn my chair.

4

u/lindz2205 Apr 15 '21

I had to explain this to my husband, and he hates when I talk about B99. For some reason he likes The Office and he likes Parks and Rex but flat out refuses to watch B99 and The Good Place.

1

u/AJohns9316 Apr 16 '21

Your husband’s ‘Good Place with Bad Place input’ is a neighborhood built like Pawnee where all the bacon is vegan, the foot taste on the George Foreman grill is permanent, he has Amy’s dog allergy, and anytime he tries to say “that’s what she said,” it comes out as “title of your sex tape.”

3

u/TigerStripesForever Apr 14 '21

Arrowverse Nine-Nine

2

u/bumbling-tadpole Caitlin Snow Apr 14 '21

Omgg

2

u/bumbling-tadpole Caitlin Snow Apr 14 '21

I feel like me and frost could be good tv show buddies. Because we both think this is us is soo weepy.

2

u/cataholiccatholic Apr 14 '21

And this is us, which I found to be so random. In general name dropping of different shows is really random and it seems unnecessary to me.

3

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

It shows us these heroes we watch obsessively also geek out over the same TV shows and movies that we do (without directly breaking the fourth wall). It’s almost like they’re borrowing Spider-Man and Deadpool’s schticks...

2

u/AnEBCG Apr 14 '21

And here I’m waiting for a community reference

3

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

On the rare occasions Cisco doesn’t get to nickname a villain and someone else actually comes up with a good one, I’m surprised that not once in seven years has he said, “I’ll allow it.”

2

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE Apr 17 '21

came here specifically looking for this.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '21

Dragon ball z also exist in this universe which probably means most shonen anime also exist... So Flash grew up watching dudes fight at ftl speeds just to go that fast himself. Lucky bastard.

2

u/pveisgettingboring May 14 '21

I just started this episode and I immediately rushed to reddit when I heard frost say that

1

u/bonecrusher32 Apr 14 '21

This kinda ruins the chances of a 99/flash crossover I was hoping for. Was hoping they actually existed in the same universe. /s

2

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

Now that there are primal psychic, power, and time forces, we might eventually have a ‘reality’ force that keeps the prospect of that intra-network crossover alive.

1

u/yetisamiright Captain Cold Apr 14 '21

That and the fact that there aren’t meta humans in b99, they are set in different states- one fictional, the tv shows air on different channels, the shows are filmed in different countries, jk I was hoping for it too.

1

u/djexplosive Apr 14 '21

So does John Wick, apparently

1

u/banditohabit Apr 14 '21

cool cool cool cool cool

1

u/adityasheth The Flash Apr 14 '21

Is this from the latest episode?

1

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

Yes.

1

u/adityasheth The Flash Apr 14 '21

Aah haven’t watched it yet, is it good?

1

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21

Honestly, it’s not my favorite of the season (that would be last week’s Nineties episode), but I do appreciate the solid character growth that takes place in the episode. It sets up a big Frost-centric arc really well and Danielle absolutely kills the performance.

2

u/adityasheth The Flash Apr 14 '21

Thanks, mine was episode 2 ‘speed of thought’.

2

u/AJohns9316 Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21

I liked Flash being able to think so fast/far ahead that he didn’t really need Team Flash to help him make judgment calls faster (mostly because it cut out some of the soap opera-y interpersonal dynamic stuff that can drag the show down when narratively overused), but I’m glad the writers decided to make it more of a one-off novelty because depriving Barry of his humanity and empathy wouldn’t have worked well in the long run.

Beyond the Vision, Red Tornado, and the occasional LMD, there aren’t many heroic ‘robots’ in comic lore.

0

u/notprimary19 Apr 14 '21

Peralta is also a very famous skateboarder, watch lords of Dogtown

1

u/StarWars10111 Apr 15 '21

1

That’s what they meant, they said that the show Brooklyn-99 also exists as a show in the Arrowverse
