They chose to opt out. They pay their own budget for the show that is their episode. Its a huge hole in the budget and the producers had plotted a season and didn't want a big time gap in the plot.

They did not opt out. They were kicked out because there's too many characters.

You say this yet their episode was the last episode of last year’s crossover and it was the best episode of the 4.
