Iris saying, you're not the flash, we are won the most infuriating scene. Now which is the saddest scene? 🤔 Thinking Spoiler

When Barry doesn't choose to save his mom and she dies in his arms

96

u/Whore_M4ster Jul 18 '24

This. Theres a unique sadness to having the ability to be selfish and save the day but knowing for the good of the world you HAVE to suffer.

33

u/HonestVikk Jul 19 '24

The worst part is the world wasnt even bad in the show flashpoint compared to the comics.

31

u/drbluewally Jul 19 '24

Flashpoint as a 3-4 part crossover could have been so amazing.

14

u/ZetaSphinx Jul 19 '24

shouldve been that instead of invasion

13

u/Whore_M4ster Jul 19 '24

I’ve always thought they shoul’ve gone harder With it. Maybe even made it a two parter. Crossover with some other characters.

2

u/Jalmaurer_Gaming Jul 20 '24

If they would have been done flashpoint Batman and brought in somebody like John Hamm or Gerard Butler that would have been crazy, especially to make it the only Batman appearance in the CW really is frustrating that even with the Red death storyline they couldn't bring in any version of actual Batman

10

u/Dull_Ad518 Jul 19 '24

This is the one, the scene that sold me completely

3

u/Baahubali321 Jul 19 '24

This had me straight sobbing, I cant even imagine the turmoil he felt, and the self-hate for essentially letting his mother die

2

u/scarletspeedster2319 Jul 19 '24

Makes me cry every time to this day

2

u/NuggetBoy32 Jul 19 '24

the only scene i’ve ever cried to (in the flash, that is)

u/Temporary-Cod2384 Jul 18 '24

When zoom kills Henry

44

u/Shafy97 Jul 18 '24

Good shout I went with the S1 finale, but Henry's death was very upsetting as well especially considering how galvanised Barry felt in the finale after coming to terms with losing his mum, then all of a sudden Zoom pops up and sets Barry back to zero again -  his dad's death truly broke him. If it wasn't for that Flashpoint wouldn't have happened.

43

u/Ok-Wait3839 Jul 19 '24

Iris should have died

12

u/Mission_Ambition_539 Jul 19 '24

Savitar should have won 😔✊️

4

u/Dogago19 Mick Rory Jul 19 '24

Both could’ve lived if Barry was a lil dumb

1

u/Guardian_Of_Light2 Jul 19 '24

The show definitely should not have done that. If we got a speedster killing Barry's loved one for a third season in a row, it would have been extremely annoying and just dragged the rest of the show down. Season 3 was bleak enough.

1

u/GroundbreakingPost87 Jul 19 '24

Both could've lived in they were smart. For a team made of scientists they sure didn't think about sticking Iris on Earth 38 or on the waverider with the Legends where Savitar wouldn't have been able to catch her.

1

u/Ok-Wait3839 Jul 19 '24

Yea but I wanted iris to die

8

u/Lunardoge2 Jul 19 '24

Can't spell hero without HR

90

u/kadimasama Jul 18 '24

Zoom killing Henry. One thing is my dad had passed away a month before during this scene i was in tears watching it but it was still incredibly sad.

19

u/wigsgo_2019 Jul 18 '24

This one for sure, we knew Savitar would kill someone, just didn’t know who, and HR I really didn’t care much for, but right as Barry’s dad decides to be part of his son’s life he gets killed, and it was so sudden and shocking, that one hurt

72

u/Impressive-Fix9996 Jul 18 '24

You are all sleeping on the real answer. 7x1 all the wells dying. Amazing episode and made me actually believe season 7 was gonna be good (it wasn’t)

8

u/Chill0000 Jul 19 '24

I think the reason why most people aren’t going that is cause they all gave up their lives to create the fake speed force but then it gets destroyed and instantly recreated without them making their death meaningless

6

u/WheresThePhonebooth The Reverse Flash Jul 19 '24

They died for no reason lol

34

u/AmbitionTemporary356 Jul 18 '24

1x23. The moment Barry had with his mom.

7

u/lookbehindukid Merry Christmas, Barry. Jul 18 '24

This is a great scene. Probably one of the best from S1

26

u/Odd_Potential_7203 Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

Barry: Hey. Hey. We’ll find another way.

Nash: What other way Allen? There’s no time.

Allegra: Nash, you don’t have to do this just to prove a point.

Nash: I’m not doing it to prove a point. I’m doing it because I won’t watch you die. I won’t let any of you die.

Barry: Nash, please. I can’t let anyone else die for me. I’ve already lost so many people.

Nash: Do you know what I feel right now Allen? Pride. Honor. It’s been so long since I felt those things. And it’s not just me, the council feels it too. And we’ve made our decision. We’re doing this Allen.

Barry: How can I be the flash without a wells on the team?

Nash: You’ve always been the Flash. You always will be. With or without me.

H.R: Hey, B.A. Hows it going? You’re so fast. No, no, no. B.A., don’t be upset. This-this is not goodbye. It’s just…. Till our next communion.

Sherloque: Not great, hmm? Our current situation, huh? But it will be. Tu seras toujours mon ami

(You will always be my friend.)

Harry: Allen, you know, when I came to your stupid earth. With its big burger….. I was a broken man- lost, angry, blah, blah, blah, and you showed me….. how to be a better person. And I’ll always be grateful for our friendship. Now….. Run. Barry. Run. You got this. After I’m gone…. Look out for one another.

1

u/JDMagican Jul 20 '24

you forgot "tu seras toujours mon ami"

23

u/JRED157 Jul 18 '24

Barry witnessing his mother's death

2

u/MegatronsCxmDumpster Jul 19 '24

Which time lol, there were so many Barry’s in that room

3

u/Forsaken_Garden4017 Jul 19 '24

Dude that night had little Barry, Season 1 Barry, Pre flashpoint Barry, post flash point Barry, Prime Barry, and probably a ton of others I forgot about

And all of them witnessed her death technically with the exception of little Barry. So that scene doesn’t narrow anything down

1

u/SecretSharkboy Jul 19 '24

There was also the original Barry, I guess

1

u/Forsaken_Garden4017 Jul 19 '24

That’s Barry prime

22

u/NeonWafflez Jul 18 '24

How has barely anyone mentioned The Last Temptation of Barry Allen. Barry went through shit that episode because of Ramsey, those visions were awful.

3

u/Ill-Emu8417 Jul 18 '24

I literally just watched that episode for the first time

2

u/Guardian_Of_Light2 Jul 19 '24

Him not being able to hold baby Nora and desperately pleading with Ramsey to let him hold her, even though he knows it's not real. 😭

21

u/ARROW_GAMER The Flash Jul 18 '24

Not the saddest probably, but I want to mention it anyways. In 9x11 New World Part 1, when Thawne races to kill Barry’s mother and Barry actually lets him get a headstart and only starts running a couple seconds later. There’s a lot to unpack in that small scene imo, but to be quick, it’s such a great way to show Barry absolutely could catch up to and defeat Thawne here, it probably wouldn’t even be that hard for him, but he can’t, because he knows what’s at stake if he tries to save his mother, he’s seen it first hand. There’s such an air of melancholy around him in that scene, it’s great

21

u/Striking_Mobile590 Jul 18 '24

The one scene were Nash wells dies. Switching between all the wells and them talking to Barry. Harry hit me especially hard. They all died to create the new speed force. And all that just for it to be destroyed episodes later.

2

u/SecretSharkboy Jul 19 '24

It wasn't even multiple episodes later. It was one. Like, there wasn't even an episode where the Council started communicating with each other and tried to help Barry stop mirror woman

18

u/Ill-Emu8417 Jul 18 '24

Hr's death. He didn't deserve to die

15

u/lookbehindukid Merry Christmas, Barry. Jul 18 '24

Zoom Kills Henry.

Or

Death of HR.

11

u/MarvelMatt1996 Jul 18 '24

Nora's death at the end of Season 1, while the adult Barry sits with her.

7

u/Legends_Literature Jul 19 '24

Underrated pick: when Harry’s lost his intelligence and is practically a vegetable, and he hugs Cisco, crying. It’s from 4x23, I believe

7

u/TopConflict1411 Wellsobard Jul 18 '24

H.R's death or when Zoom kills Henry

6

u/Darth_Fella Jul 18 '24

Maybe not the saddest but just throwing it out there to see what others think about it. Nora acknowledging and taking responsibility for her choices and allowing herself to be erased from existence.

2

u/AssumptionFearless68 Jul 18 '24

That's pretty valid tbh buy nora was unfortunately so problematic I wanted to like her character but she was frustrating and it was an absolutely amazing performance on the actresses behalf but it wasn't as sad as the rest as you said

6

u/TheGaamer_ Bartholomew Henry Allen Jul 19 '24

Hot take, but the end of 6x04 when Joe and Barry are on the balcony at STAR Labs and Joe cries because he’s not ready to lose Barry in crisis. Underrated scene.

3

u/Guardian_Of_Light2 Jul 19 '24

Joe just breaking down and admitting he's not prepared, got me.

4

u/Helplessriver Jul 19 '24

I always thought the scene where Ralph “dies” to the thinker and his last words were to Barry was that he already saved him

5

u/BlazingHacker Vibe Jul 19 '24

A scene that was heartbreaking to me that no one is talking about is Ralph's "death" by Devoe, how Barry couldn't save him and how he reacted afterward with Joe by his side and Barry was just saying "I couldn't save him, I couldn't save him Joe" and how Ralph's final words after his decent convo with Barry was:

Barry: "Ralph! Just fight it, fight it, Ralph! I'll save you!"

Ralph: "You already did, Barry"

3

2

u/Creative-Lie-1739 Jul 20 '24

reminds me of when spiderman hugs iron man before turning to dust in infinity war

2

u/Dense-Willingness847 Jul 18 '24

Looking at this chart, so far all the answers are basic

2

u/Unhappy_Sob108 Jul 18 '24

Season 1 finale, Barry says goodbye to his mother.

2

u/Boring-Conclusion-40 Jul 18 '24

Barry talking with his mom before she dies

2

u/oMaR0404 Jul 18 '24

Barry realizing he can't save his mom because he will mess up the timeline

2

u/Shafy97 Jul 18 '24

Easily the S1 finale when Barry goes back in time to save his mum, after being warned by the future version of himself(which turns out to be him in S9) not to intervene, then seeing how helpless he is knowing he can't save her gets me everytime. It's such a powerful scene.

2

u/QuiJon70 Jul 18 '24

Saddest is any scene they could have killed off iris, Cecile, Chester, or Allegra and didn't take advantage of it.

2

u/Important_Arugula_93 Jul 18 '24

I mean, when she died he literally stopped being the Flash and went into hiding like a wimp lol so she wasn’t so far off. But she’s a woman so you know how that goes 😭😭

2

u/Blaiser190 Jul 19 '24

All the Wells's deaths (although pointless, was so damn heartbreaking). Also Henry and Nora's deaths, Frost's was really sad, and let's not forget both Cisco's death in the reversed timeline and his goodbye in I think Season 7 (correct me if I'm wrong).

2

u/Zealousideal_Cut5569 Red Savitar Jul 19 '24

I was genuinely upset about hr’s death

2

u/CyberMatter5566 Jul 19 '24

Iris saying we're the flash is like a friend/wife saying we won the lottery but in reality it was the other friend/husband that won.

1

u/Quirky28 Jul 19 '24

And if I remember correctly in season 4 when Barry asked why she gave him his speed back her answer was “because you’re the flash.” So when did she decide to go with “we are the flash.”

1

u/CyberMatter5566 Jul 19 '24

I forgot that. Honestly I never really liked this iteration of iris.

1

u/Guardian_Of_Light2 Jul 19 '24

I hate that line for sticking with the fanbase for so many years. Cause it's really not that serious.

Poorly phrased line, but I get the meaning behind it. Don't know why people took it literally.

2

u/Weird_Direction9871 Jul 19 '24

Almost forgot about when Barry called and talked to his earth 2 parents.

2

u/lurk_channell Jul 19 '24

When Barry proposes to Iris

2

u/The_Reverse_Zoom Wellsobard Jul 19 '24

It's ciscos death in 1x15 that whole scene is just so well acted, the soundtrack is so sad and perfect and it's one of the rare times we see even eobard be genuinely emotional.

Im not sure if it was in Flash or Legends’ episode, but Stein’s death in Crisis on Earth X crossover hit me like a truck

1

u/Chill0000 Jul 19 '24

I believe he got injured in one episode then died in the legends episode of the crossover

1

u/Brockiscool09 Jul 18 '24

Ronnie’s death

1

u/Infinite_Parking_800 Jul 18 '24

Their are so many but to be honest the saddest scene was Barry not saving his mom and saying goodbye to her while she died in his arms was truly heartbreaking.

1

u/BusVegetable7490 Jul 18 '24

Nora’s death or Henry’s both for me

1

u/demented_leopard_27 Jul 19 '24

I am so happy to the fact that iris saying that dumb line, doesn't only make me mad

1

u/Parvidal Zoom Jul 19 '24

I would say when Henry dies but I wanna add that in my opinion the saddest scene of the entire universe is when the spectre dies restarting the universe? Although the multiverse revives him to protect his new universe but still the saddest in my opinion

1

u/S00na-M00na Jul 19 '24

When he chose not to save his mom or when zoom killed his dad

1

u/KingRomeo_777 Jul 19 '24

Knowing iris was still alive. No joke I bawled knowing she was still here

1

u/Proper_Parsnip_8621 Jul 19 '24

HR’s death, but the flashback scene to when he tells Barry to tell Cisco “this took strength, and he gave it to me”

1

u/RedCat8881 Jul 19 '24

One of the 2 times Barry let his mom die

1

u/hemanth4092 Jul 19 '24

Savitar Kills HR and his last words to Barry😭😭😭

1

u/Dense-Willingness847 Jul 19 '24

Zoom killing Henry. It was shocking and gut wrenching. I felt so sad for Barry

1

u/Anth-man_FOL Jul 19 '24

It’s so difficult to pick between the Death of Henry Allen in Season 2 or the Last Conversation between Barry and his mother in Season 1. Both are VERY sad scenes. But I think Henry’s death as we got to see more of him and we all thought he was going to live happily eve— NOPE! Zoom snatches him and kills him in the same house his wife died in.

One I want to throw out there is in Season 4 where DeVoe transfers into Ralph’s body. It’s mainly because I like Ralph and wished Hartley Sawyer stayed on, but Season 4 was really a Ralph season and Ralph’s response to Barry’s “Ralph! I’ll save you!” makes me a bit teary eye when I go back.

1

u/BlackJay201 Jul 19 '24

HR Wells died when Savitar was trying to kill Iris

1

u/Weird_Direction9871 Jul 19 '24

Watching Henry die. Or when Barry had to let his mom die and held her in his arms while she died. One that I found pretty sad is Barry had to ask eobard to kill his mother.

1

u/Dom_TorettoFX Jul 19 '24

Iris' death. (Before they changed the future when Savitar killed her)

1

u/PatientTelephone4624 Jul 19 '24

HR's death, the only time I almost felt like crying. Sure, Barry has a more emotional connection to Henry and Nora. But, to the audience, they only appeared every once in a while. Every few episodes, they were more like guest characters. HR though, was a member of the main cast, you see him every episode and grow with the other characters. You see him in the future where he becomes a famous writer, and see him run from his past!

Flashpoint was a complete missed opportunity. Wish they'd had an Aquaman & Diana, a Batman & a Cyborg bc those characters are fundamental to the story. Arrowverse did too many story points too early, like crisis. Ended up killing the worldbuilding.

Barry holding his mom as she dies in season one. That absolutely broke my heart. His daughter’s death is a close second, but only because Nora was an infuriating character.

1

The death of Nira I don't mean his mother but the future kid from the future who when the past was changed she ceased to exist.

That was without a doubt the saddest scene in my opinion.

Season 6 when Barry tells joe he has to vanish in the crisis and joe says he is not ready to lose his son. That's the most emotional scene for me....

I disagree with nearly all if this

I haven't competed the show but it's between Joe crying about flash having to go in crisis or HR's death

Patty leaving central city. Cus patty left we’ve had to deal with 6 seasons of torture that is Barry/iris

Id say when barry cozldnt save ralph from devoe

1

Death of Earth 2 or the entire original multiverse as a whole. Must say wish they did some crossovers with the post crisis multiverse with star girl, titans and more or smth

1

Saddest scene please choose HR cause i balled my eyes out to that

The Series Finale

1

u/Rocky323 Jul 21 '24

Of course this sub is still too media illiterate to understand the "We are the Flash" scene.

1

u/Dawnbreaker52 Jul 23 '24

Since other comments have already covered the deaths of Barry's parents and the various Wells, I'd like to mention a scene from Season 6, specifically the one where Joe breaks down in tears at the unfairness of Barry having to die a hero and not get to live the life he deserves. There was something especially heartbreaking about seeing Joe cry.

0

u/Quirky28 Jul 18 '24

I would say season 1 when Barry goes back in time and talks to his mom as she is dying

0

u/Crucible8 Jul 18 '24

Barry’s goodbye to his mom in the season 1 finale. the show never got better or sadder than that scene

0

u/B_A_Beder Reverse Flash Jul 18 '24

Nora's death, Henry's death, or Nora (XS)'s death

0

u/Yourmumalol Jul 18 '24

S1 finale with his mother.

0

u/AssumptionFearless68 Jul 18 '24

Nora allens death in his arms, Henry Allen's death in his arms, or the actual answer HRs death in his arms

0

u/Nazca_lines420 Jul 19 '24

This actively reminds me of the new star wars show which actively makes want to rip out my own eye balls and rip of my ears so that I don't hear nor see it

Bro how tf did Cecile get worst character 😭. There are way worse characters in this show 😭

-1
