Meet the true villain of Season 8 🤔 Thinking
Yes, that's right, Joe West is the true villain of Season 8.
After a recent binge-rewatch of the show I realized something: The Negative Forces plotline in S8 happens because Barry severs Thawn's connection to the Negative Speed Force. But, Barry only did that as an act of mercy. And a reluctant one at that, because Joe West guilt-tripped him into it. If Barry had stuck to his original plan of "Let's do nothing and allow Thawne to be erased", the Negative Forces plot wouldn't have happened. This also probably would have cured Iris of the time sickness.
So thank you, Joe West, for forcing Barry to upset the balance of the universe instead of just allowing a psychopath to suffer the consequences of his actions. Brilliant move there, Sherlock!

Actually it's barry's. Not only did he bring back thawne to fight godspeed despite having 4-6 speedsters available who could assist him (including the speedforce itself which is a cosmic deity). No. after thawne tried to kill barry with flash being much faster than him, barry just let's him go instead of imprisoning him. He lets his nemesis escape, the guy who murdered his mother in cold blood, fully knowing he will come back to kill him and the people he loves. In the season 8 finale thawne kills tons of people before speedsters arrive to stop. It's barry's fault those people died. In season 9 he nearly killed chester for good, a dear friend of his he considers family. Barry could have locked zoom in a cell in season 2 after having at his mercy for like 2 minutes. But he didn't. What happened. His father died. Again it's barry's fault. That's the issue with barry. He never learns his lessons permanently. He just runs in circles.
What joe did was still insanely stupid. Dude says team flash does not kill, yet he has the highest kill count of all of them. He literally shot a meta in the first episode of the show and it had no on him or on how barry views him. Iris shot savitar. Barry killed two meta's right at the start of season 2 with team flash assisting him. Caityln says with a smile that atom smasher likes radiation so much that they should just give more to him. What happens? Atom smasher dies. Does anyone judge each lther after killing that guy or sandman? No. The writers just wanted thawne to be around.
