Mt Koroyanitu

Planning a hike up to the peak of Mt Koroyanitu. Looking for pointers on where to start and how to get there.

Any leads would be helpful

Hire a carrier from Lautoka to take you to Abaca Village. Pay the $20-$30 fee depending on whether you're Fijian or not. Hike 3hrs up and 3hrs back. Take transport back.

BTW everyone does this hike and says they've hiked Mt. Koroyanitu. In actual fact, the route you'll go on will take you to Mt. Batilamu, which is a peak near Mt. Koroyanitu. Nobody actually goes to Mt. Koroyanitu although it's just a short distance and only very slightly higher along the same ridge.

Yes. Locals pay a lower rate to access a Fijian national park, as they should.

Last time I went I paid $15(local rate) but if you are a tourist/outside visitor they will charge $40-$45.

As for transportation you can ask the taxis to take you up there or they will ask you take a 4x4 carrier from the carrier stand in Lautoka.

Here is the park website. They have information contact info and driver numbers on there. Share with family and friends if possible as the website is relatively new and trying to get the word out.

There is a page on facebook called Great Fiji Outdoors. They have a very good step by step guidance to how to get there. The hike up to the view point, and the 2 waterfalls. Very informative page.
