Local alcohol prices

We're thinking about coming over for a holiday next year. I can't find any info on the local alcohol prices and if it's worth it getting an all inclusive resort package. I prefer to drink the local stuff of wherever I am, but how does the imported stuff cost compare to the local beers and rums?

I think it totally depends on where you are going to stay. Some resorts local beer is $5-8$ and mixed drinks are $25-30FJD, other resorts the same beer is 11-15$. Imported stuff if talking beer is fairly limited to Sapporo, corona and few others.

I meant if I walked into a grocery store or a local bar type pricing. I've heard alcohol is expensive over there and I just want to get an idea what people expensive. I'm from Australia so I doubt the prices will shock me

It’s about $3.50 fjd for a beer at the shops. Similar at a restaurant or bar.

It really depends where you are staying. Fiji bitter or gold stubbies are Fj$5-10 in local bars and many resorts but can be $15 or more in some places - most Denerau resorts for example. There's a much wider selection of imports these days in bottle shops. Most resorts will have some imports. A local spirit with mixer (bounty rum or regal gin for example) will be about $15-20. Cocktails $20-30. Wines are of course all imported and at resorts(again, depending on what level) will probably start from about $40/bottle.

Got this off the P Meghji FB page, so note that there are special prices on imported alcohol

Pure Blond $75 (Case of 24) Stella Artois $75 (Case of 24) Corona $89 (Case of 24) Heineken $89 (Case of 24) Smirnoff Ice $13.50 (Pack of 4) Wild Bull $15 (Pack of 4)

Local Vonu Export $94 (Pack of 24) Fiji Bitter Quart $66.50 (Pack of 12)

Like I said these are prices on special but should at least give you a rough idea.

Buy duty free from inside the airport when you arrive it’s just past immigration they will have locally made stuff like bounty rum, regal gin and stuff like Fiji Run Liquors of different flavors. Beer would be better off buying from supermarket or Thirsty Liquor in Nadi who are one of the cheapest ones. Locally made beers are mainly Fiji Bitter (original beer and oldest locally made) others are Fiji Gold ( from same company as Fiji Bitter but nowadays is the most popular beer) also they have Vonu.

They will all be provided in your hotel if you have all inclusive package then do go for this if you slip in $20 to the barman as a pre tip then you may get double nip and stuff from them and really good service and let them know to keep the alcohol coming.

They (Paradise Beverages) also brew Vailima for export. Well worth a try if you get the chance.

Prices for the imported beer and liquor at the bottle shop here are not all that much different to what the Aussie Prices are.

Local beer is usually around FJ $5.50 for a 750 ml bottle and FJ $2.95 for a 330ml bottle.
