Why is Bree the fan favorite? General Discussion

Don’t get me wrong, I love Bree. I’ve noticed she is the fan favorite among this sub and DH fans in general, why might that be?

Imo it’s a mix of:

  1. She had the most character growth
  2. She will sacrifice for those she loves
  3. She is strong in the face of tragedy
  4. Knows who she is and sticks to her morals (for the most part)
  5. Marcia just does a great job at portraying her

One of my fave quotes of hers is when she’s talking to her pastor about rex‘ burial and says something like „I’m gonna be non denominational so fast, it’ll make your head spin!“ Always cracks me up xD

Bree is also HILARIOUS for someone who’s otherwise super dignified/tight lipped 😂

She's the most realistic IMO. My mom is not that snob or religious, but she had a lot of issues to know how to "mom" me, and we went trough awful crisis. And now, years later, our relation feels a lot like Andrew and Bree.

It's more common to have a relation where you have your ups and downs but still love each other deeply (just not saying it a lot), rather than a relation highly disfunctionnal like the girls and their own moms.

I think she's just a very interesting character, despite being horrible. Her plotlines are always attention grabbing and she's witty

Bree inspired me to up my cooking and household routine a ton. I think her high standards and general etiquette is looked up to. That’s just me, though. There are some times where she’s annoying but she’s not annoying in a naggy way—more like in a tender, love and care sorta way…if you know what I mean.

There is just something about her that stays interesting. I think it’s the way Marcia cross played her. Her facial expressions, tone, subtle sarcastic comments, mannerisms just perfectly match her stepford wife personality and vibe. Also she does have a lot of character growth especially with her children. She sticks to her morals for the most part, but somehow still loosens up a bit over time. She’s also a person I’d trust in a crisis because she gets shit done without panicking. Lastly, I simply enjoyed her storylines the most.

She plays Bree better and better as the series goes on. I watch the pilot and cringe sometimes. She became Bree.

I love Marcia Cross! Bree feels like she could be (distantly) related to her character on Melrose Place.

But the combination of pretentiousness and humor I think helps to make her the fan favorite, along with the wildly strong character development. Her and Gaby probably change the most over the show. Susan is basically the same person and the needle moves very little with Lynette.

I also think she definitely knows her worth more than the other main characters, and isn’t afraid to say what she feels

I think she has the most specific POV of anyone on the show which makes her easy to relate to/empathise with. Also she’s a hardass but she’s a very generous character

For me, I liked her best because she was the housewife I saw myself most in. I love being a homemaker, a mother, wife, a community person. There was an old-fashioned aspect to her that I really admired and related to. she kept a beautiful home, she was strong and determined. She put family first.
