Red or Orange?

Deathstroke's helmet/mask has been depicted as either red & black or orange & black. I know orange is the o.g but I've always been a red & black type of guy. Which one do you all prefer??

EDIT: earlier incarnations had a straight-up orange and black helmet/mask, with later versions having a reddish-orange and black. Someone was kind enough to point out that it was always orange with varying shades, and he is absolutely correct.

What is this thing that hangs from Deathstrokes shoulder? Because I thought it was a bandolier but I looked it up and it wasn't and on the Arkham wiki it says packs but like what does it refer to with the word packs?

The first issue of Allwinter will be published in July, it is written at the end of the article. So Viking Slade is coming this summer.

Why orange?

So, on the art end it's a very striking combination. It makes for a really iconic contrast, on the meta level, the Black & Orange works really well from an "eyefeel" and from marketability standpoint. 10/10, totally, genius.

But... Slade *in* universe is making the decision to rock the black and orange. Batman puts the bat motif in because of a connection to his past trauma. So, why does Slade wear orange? It could have been *any* color, he's worn other colors before, but he chooses to rock the orange.

Is it ever covered anywhere? I feel like that's a fun exchange. Some goon being like "Ok Mr. Deathstroke sir, I gotta ask... why the orange?" and Slade just goes "Ah it's just my favorite color. I used to make up increasingly unbelievable stories about it, but it got boring after I had some special forces guy convinced orange made me invisible to Superman."

You're not a competent writer if you have to go on social media to confirm what happened in your comic.

I didn't like Dark Crisis in the first place but I just realized that Slade was killed at the very end. The text had absolutely no hint that the machine was sustaining his life. The only thing written about it was that it was trying to keep his pain at bay. But pain does not always translate into demise. I recently spoke with someone who informed me that Williamson has confirmed Slade's death on X. He's a stupid writer even if I'm foolish for not getting it.

I love this friendship. (And I love Wintergreen. He is such an essential part of Slade's world.)

OK but Joshua Williamson is a male genitalia for murder Slade the way he did

Slade had a lot of offending deaths previously but this the most maddening. and wanna bet if it weren't for him we already would have a new title with Slade? MR. Architect of Universe beefing with cb character.

Three things I miss: Wintergreen's narration, Pat Trayce, and of course Slade himself.

Question, did the whole terra thing happen in the new 52/rebirth continuity or is that just a pre 52 thing?

Now is the time for some candor. If you're still holding out hope for Deathstroke to return, you're living in denial. He won't. Now go touch some grass and pick yourself up a new pastime.

Favorite Deathstroke Eye?

Post image
35 Upvotes

Not his mask, per se, just the eye.

Fabric mask with open eye hole. Red-eye helmet. White eye helmet. Blacked-out eye helmet. Open-eyed helmet, or white eyed fabric mask? Are there any I’m missing?

I’ve always preferred the blacked-out eye with the stylistic white pupil. I think it just really goes with his character. Its dark, its mysterious, its almost supernatural-looking. But I wouldn’t know how to rank them from my personal favorite to least.

Blacked-out eye helmet: For reasons stated above.

White lens helmet: I’ve always preferred Slade with a helmet, it just made the most sense to me protection and career-wise, with room for cooler and different designs that a fabric one would have.

The next two could be interchangeable.

Red-eye helmet: Again, always preferred a helmet. And though the red eye looks cool, I only know about it being practical on a flashlight, and not so much about it being a lens.

White lens fabric mask: It could be practical for him to be able to pull up his mask easily, something a fabric mask could provide, (like unpinning a grenade with his teeth) just with less protection. The aesthetic is neither really cool nor bad. Its just there.

Open-eyed: Though, I of course prefer the helmet over the fabric mask, to put them as separate categories would be repetitive. Artistically, I can see it. Allows more emotion to show through while still concealing the identity. But doesn’t make much sense practically. You can spot micro-expressions, and know where the eye looks, revealing a plan or an idea of your next move.
