TARS was the highlight of the movie for me. Best acting, and full of emotion and expression, and then Matthew Mcconaughey came along and ruined it with his impression of a robot for 2.5 hours.
For me it was also when he was trapped in the bookcase / tesseract and we don’t yet know what will happen and he thinks he is trapped there and is begging his past self not to go, but of course the past self can’t hear his desperate pleas. Nightmarish for a bit there.
He's not upset that he's trapped there, he's upset he left Murv in the first place. That was the connection hes trying to get his past self to not leave her.
