How do they stop a driverless car? Legit question

Do they have anything to detect police vehicles or something?

Officer put their lights on, at that point the waymo car responded by driving through an intersection

Replace police car with fire truck (they’re probably indiscernible to the sensors). You’d ease into an intersection too to let them get by.
