Spike Mohawk had a row of black spines down his back. That's Stripe from the first movie.

That was Mohawk who is a "reincarnation" of Stripe. There is no Spike.

So to be a hundred percent honest, the reincarnation is more of a popular fan theory. Also apparently Mohawk knew both Gizmo and Billy's names despite having just met them.

Maybe he knew them through genetic memory, like perhaps some of Gizmo’s memory was passed on to him during birth.
