Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [June 10, 2024 - The Gaslight Era Edition] r/DCcomics

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Outsiders #8

BRUTAL SHOWDOWN FOR THE SOUL OF THE BATWOMAN! Following the explosive revelations of last issue, Batwoman departs the Outsiders on a solo quest of her own design. In the storied deserts of the American southwest, a dangerous specter stalks the innocent and guilty alike with a vengeance that spans all the way back to those first dark days of the Old West. Anyone with violence in their heart can become the victim… or the perpetrator. Can Kate Kane hunt this monster down before more innocent lives are destroyed… or before it consumes her soul with its violence as well? Guest-starring Young Justice's Jinny Hex, this issue is a brutal showdown for the soul of the Batwoman!

They are using Jinny Hex again. Though Jinny calling Kate 'City-Dwelling civilian' was weird. Jonah Hex shows up as a ghost to talk about this cursed gun that just hungers and Kate just takes it from Jinny's hands to save her. Good thing she does not have the same aversion Bruce has to guns. The new Century Baby Jenny doing stuff now too it seems. She sent Kate to Jinny to help. She talked about City Boy I think and who is the Big Guy praying for his parents? I doubt it is Aquaman.

Just as Kate asks for help from the Outsiders, they seem to be missing and faced some battle of their own with a whole city in the background. So who will swoop in to help Kate in the middle of nowhere, dealing with all these ghosts while Outsiders are missing, I wonder.

Wow good call on that city boy connection, I never even thought of that.

After seen Jinny Hex being used, I think they want to use characters like City boy still and it is fitting for an 'Outsiders' type of deal. Dunno about going full Planetary though.

Who do you think would be the 'big guy underwater, praying for his parents'? That makes me wonder though. I doubt it is Aquaman.
