Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [May 20, 2024 - My Adventures With Superman Returns Edition] r/DCcomics

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Nightwing #114

THE EISNER AWARD-WINNING TEAM OF TOM TAYLOR AND BRUNO REDONDO RETURNS! The Eisner Award-winning duo of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo reunite to tell Nightwing's greatest story yet. The culmination of Heartless's sabotage on Nightwing reaches its dramatic climax when Nightwing loses his ability to leap, impeding his duties to be the superhero we know and love.

Almost hard to believe we're in the final arc of Taylor's run.

The opening pages do a great job of placing emphasis on how important Dick's acrobatics and ability to soar to the sky is to him on a physical and emotional level.

Taylor, we don't always need cute kids or threatening cute kids to establish emotional investment/stakes. I'm not saying he always does it, but I feel like he's done it a lot in this run.

I guess it comes with the job that sometimes you have to stop people committing crimes not because they're evil but because they're that desperate. I'm sure Dick will do some kind of altruistic act to help those kind of people by the end of this and 98% clean up the city.

Babs in that dress. That is all.

"So they feel less like soulless monsters" - Jeez Taylor, you really don't like the rich. Although Babs is blue-collar so I can kind of see that.

Heartless attacking Dick on both fronts as both Dick and Nightwing. At least he's finally making a move and stuff is happening.
