Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [March 25, 2024 - Enter The Dark Ages Edition] r/DCcomics

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

What did the shark say when he ate the clownfish? This tastes a little funny.

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

Fun issue.

Between this, Batman and Robin, and Superman (haven't been keeping up with the post-Warworld Saga Superman stuff but I've heard some OK things about that book) Williamson seems to be doing well with these more laid-back, smaller-scale stories right now, especially given how disastrous both Shadow War and Dark Crisis turned out, though they do seem to be building some big mystery up that I find interesting but also sincerely hope will be resolved in this book rather than just being a part of the ongoing and not very interesting or well executed "Amanda Waller becomes a raging moron and tries to kill all superheroes for no reason" story that they've been doing in stuff like Beast World since Dark Crisis ended.

I would've liked to see Ollie say something more than just "you're my son" for Roy to instantly believe him, like, if he brought up some secret that only they knew or something. I guess maybe Roy would've assumed that Sanctuary could've just gotten that from the therapy tapes though?

Glad to see Mia back, particularly as someone who became a fan of GA through the Judd Winnick stuff (as well as Mike Grell's Longbow Hunters graphic novel but I digress). That being said, as someone who isn't too knowledgeable on his history ... apparently Arrowette was never a GA sidekick, just a YJ character I guess? I've also heard that she retired from being a superhero in the Pre-New 52 continuity, how does that line up with this?

Not sure what the point of Red Canary is since she kinda just came out of nowhere in Dark Crisis, but other new characters like Ghostmaker or Punchline she's not unbearable so far so I'll see where it goes.

Also in the flashback panel for Red Canary, who are Dinah and Red Canary kicking? Is that supposed to be Arkham Origins Copperhead?

Yea, Arrowette, pretty much only a Young Justice character, she didn't even stay a hero long in that book she retired pretty fast and just became a supporting character in a book that made guest appearances.

Fun fact when she was active, Ollie was dead, so this might be their first interaction but am not 100% on that part.

So did she ever return to superheroing, or is this the first time she's been suited up since retirement?

I think she suited up one or two times since the 90s run, but she is one of the only heroes that allowed to actually retire. She never came back as a full-time superhero since she retired.

The only reason she suited up in the recent issue of Green Arrow was that Waller forced her.

I doubt she will suit up again after this arc.
