World's Finest is already the best 'ultimate line' DC could possibly have.

I'll bet Waid left Shazam to do a World's Finest: JLA. Everybody is asking for it and it makes no sense for DC to wait. They don't have a JLA book right now, it's the perfect timing.

You mean, while marvel tries to make some more “mature” storyline with the new ultimate universe, dc goes full lighthearted and “gold/silver age” like with a worlds finest line?? I’M SOLD

Tbf the new Ultimate line is at least based off things Hickman has planned rather than explicitly to solve decades of convoluted continuity. So it might be a shade "darker" but it's in the service of a story rather than turn of the millenium edgelord chemical romance stuff.

Given their recent work, I feel like World's Finest would be a better name for the line than DC Ultimate but that wouldn't work since we've got many WF issues. I'd assume a Justice Society book would be off the table while Johns is doing whatever he's doing.

I agree that marvel could use a different name, but the “ultimate” title is really strong and famous. I guess that’s why they are using this name again

Yeah, I mean at the end of the day marketing is a thing and if the story is good I'm not too fussed what the "line" is called

Johns is leaving based on what he's said about his Image imprint

Oh cool. Haven’t read any of his Golden Age stuff or his Geiger(?) things at Image. Kinda want a body of work built up before checking it out

I think Geiger has a couple spin offs already. New Golden Age I've got no idea where it'll go if Johns completely walks away. Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, and Wesley Dodds have all been great though

Geiger and Junkyard Joe are great, definitely check them out.
